King of the Monsters

Is this anybody elses' most anticipated movie of the decade? I mean, there's been a lot of great flicks from the start of this decade and even within the year 2019 coming out, but nothing has me absolutely pumped like this movie.

How could Godzilla possibly be the king? He's a lizard. Who ever heard of a lizard king?

Jim Morrison would like to have a chat with you

Seriously, none of you guys? Personally Godzilla (2014) was easily in my top 5 flicks this decade. I actually teared up watching the trailers for King of the Monsters, because as much as I liked that Godzilla movie, King of the Monsters seems like the first time the original Toho Godzilla is getting the full budget, Hollywood treatment. And to see Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah all looking this amazing... it's a childhood dream come true.

I'll never forget seeing Godzilla 2000 in theaters with my father and from that point on, just being utterly fascinated by Godzilla.

cant wait for king kong vs godzila vs random monsters 14

Have none of you guys ever watched any of these movies in theaters? I mean, I'll usually watch Avengers or something like that first week or two in theaters, and it's always fun because of how excited the audience will be, cheering and joking around during the movie.

I remember watching Godzilla 2014 in theaters was so damn fun. Sure, it took a long time to get to the part where Godzilla actually started fighting, but when it got started the audience was audibly gasping and cheering as the fight went on. When he did that awesome tail whip, people in the audience were shouting and cheering like "Yeah!" and "Holy shit". And during that final coup de gras where he spat hellfire down the Muto's throat, the audience literally began applauding and cheering like crazy. Movie literally had a standing ovation by the end and everyone walking out kept talking about how much more awesome the movie was than they initially expected.

I don't know if us Godzilla fans are just somewhat niche or what. I don't feel the same level of excitement for these super hero flicks or whatever flavour of the month movies come out. But Godzilla has always been different. From since a child, Godzilla always had this holiness about him, like he was this divine arbiter of the Earth itself. The way Legendary managed to make him truly look organic like he came out of the Earth just seemed like having my childhood dream of what I saw in Godzilla fully realized, like something you'd see in fanart or cgi renders but never properly pulled off in film until then. I know I'll probably start crying in the movie theater watching this one, and I'm determined to see it in IMAX 3D with the best seats as possible because even with Avengers, Lion King, Pikachu and a bunch of other flicks coming out, this is the only one I'm really emotionally attached to.

we've pretty much seen all of the action scenes in the various trailers already

bait

/m/ has a supposed leak on Godzilla vs Kong.
Godzilla wins

I hate people like you. You've seen maybe 6 minutes of a 2 hour plus film and say "It's not worth it to buy a ticket". Look, again if you don't care to see the movie that's fine, and yes there are cases where they'll actually show all the fights in a movie trailer, because there's barely any fighting in the movie. But they've literally only shown the point where Ghidorah and Godzilla face each other, and nothing else. Nothing of Godzilla fighting Mothra or Rodan, or those two fighting each other, no actual fight between Ghidorah and Godzilla. The movie is clearly being marketed on the basis of the actual fight being what the audience is incentivized into buying a ticket for. Think of it like a boxing match. So no, you haven't seen all the action scenes.

I don't even really care if you don't want to see this movie or whatever. But no, my honest to god fanboyism and anticipation of a childhood idol finally being fully realized in a way he never has before is not me "baiting" anything. You guys can make infinite threads about this Joker movie or Endgame as much as you want, I'll probably be first to buy the best IMAX tickets available for this movie and I'll pre-order the 4k bluray on Amazon. If I'm being completely honest I'll be that one guy screaming like an over excited dipshit in the movie theater while some married guy with his kids next to me is like "Dude, shut the hell up". But I won't care, this is something I've been waiting my entire life for. I almost definitely will cry just from happiness watching this movie, and I don't care how retarded everyone else thinks I am or if my girlfriends dumps me over this movie.

Low effort bait

Godzilla 2014 sucked. New one looks good though

Your mother not aborting you was a low effort bait.

Then falls into a chasm in the ground and seemingly dies.

>You've seen maybe 6 minutes of a 2 hour plus film

ye 6 minutes of action and 120 minutes of boring human drama nobody gives a shit about

You dare question the sovereignty of the royal lizard tyrant kings of old?

Nope

That's a bird, though.

Wrong. Dinosaurs were endothermic reptiles. Tyrannosaurus Rex specifically was a bird hipped dino, aka a theropod. Theropods being the ancient ancestors of birds before they became actual birds.

Can you imagine what kind of storms that whipped across the supercontinent back then? The climate as a whole was fucking supercharged, and produced some of the largest monstrosities that ever roamed the earth; but imagine the weather that they endured (and then stopped enduring).

I love Mothra!!!FACT!!!

I used to watch capeshit but the King Kong and Godzilla film replaces the itch. It has fat but not enough to take away from the experience. CGI is done well and it always looks good. I expect more of the same from this film.

it won't be as good as Shin Godzilla so I don't care about it

won't be as good as shin

Why would u name it king of the monsters over king of monster ?

based

I've never seen Shin Godzilla and I hated Final Wars but loved GODzilla 98; what will I think about it?

Jaeger where?
Where did they go when they are needed most?

They're in the ground son, Apocalypse already canceled.

The trailer would have been great if the CGI didn't get interrupted every 4 seconds by low IQ amerimutt interventions.

My theatre was the exact same. But everyone in it seemed like an already established G fan. Shirts, hoodies, one dude was wearing a godzilla snuggie or some shit. Theatre erupted when Godzilla's tail first began glowing blue. Very good time and I'll never forget it.

According to the set visit, information that many people didn't notice, we may get extended versions of these films including Takarada's cameo in 2014 Godzilla. I don't know when but I'm sure we'll get it eventually.

I wonder how they will portray her on the movie. Kong set a precedent for kaijus living on isolated islands as protectors of their inhabitants, so it would be nice for the to show Mothra as one like her original japanese version and joining the battle to protect her little island.

Shin Godzilla has a lot of political jokes about the Japanese government so maybe you will like it if you liked how Godzilla 98 took their salt of Siske and Ebert

How far can you get with a kaiju CU?

I guess she will be an ally. Iirc she was nicknamed the queen of monsters, so after an initial clash or something they will be on the same side.
