why did he decide to become such a whiner at the end of his life?
Lets say its not real. Lets say the crazy weather we’ve been having is a fluke.
What’s the harm in not polluting the ocean, getting off fossil fuels(which will run out), creating high speed rail instead of sitting in a cramped southwest airlines plane, and cleaning up the planet anyways?
Besides being a shill for corporations. I dont see a way to be against it
If Trump proposed the Green New Deal, instead of a latina, /pol/ would be signing up for clean up crews right now
because no one whining about "climate change" give a single shit about those issues?
the climate strike kids are driving with their parents suv to the demonstration and not to the closest river or forest to clean it up, plant hedges and build habitats for wild bees and birds
It's retarded though. If it was a smart infrastructure plan, everyone could get behind it.
>dude we should destroy the planet to troll the libtards epic style
Yeah, I do give a shit about cancerous fumes, you fucking retard, and so do most people.
that's a strawman epic style!
Good job avoiding the question.
>Besides being a shill for corporations. I dont see a way to be against it
You will never see more desperate groveling than that of a poor conservative for a massive megacorporation.
mo you dont. maybe enough to press like on facebook.
if you need an answer to that question you are a retard
>which will run out
LOL imagine actually thinking this
so lets just go full nuclear. But oddly the global warming crowd don't like this.
i do wonder what the energy footprint of the average Netflix executive is compared to the average American.
Imagine actually caring about future generations
na rather put up windmills (owned and built by companies owned by green politicians) that shredder birds and insects epic style
the politicians claiming to do exactly that dont even have children, you dumbass
imagine being such a contrarian faggot that you deny the importance of preserving our natural habitat
As someone who works in the nuclear field it's really retarded how much moral panic there is over nuclear facilities. I wonder if the really extreme people who want all nuclear reactors shut down have ever considered that medical processes like x-rays require irradiation
see here
we just don't want niggers, sandniggers, or slavniggers to have them
>everyone should do what I say because I am smart and special and always right
socialists dont care about that. they want to unify the world in misery and absolut poverty
There is literally nothing we can do about climate change at this point. Might as well accept the fact that the planet will turn into Venus but 2500.
That's fair. But because of the moral panic over them there's less than 5 reactors in the country operating at a level that can provide medical materials. As it stands we have to import supplies from other countries too rather than just making it all domestically
Because nobody’s plan is to clean up the ocean, improve infrastructure etc. Politcians are creating fucking retarded climate plans like the Paris Accord, which by their own admission will do next to nothing and cost trillions. In my own country my PM just introduced a carbon tax and gas immediately shot up to over 1.50$ a liter.
People mock the “why bother doing anything because China/India/US do x” argument but China creates like 25x my countries total. If we had 0 emissions they’d make up for it in not even a month, I don’t get it.
aoc please
Good job bootlicker.
I can't remember where I read it, but I read someones personal account of when they visited fukishima years after the event and everyone was still told to stay away. This western guy asked the japanese person why they were still doing stuff and telling people to keep away, when there are even natural parts of this world(he brought up some part of colorado) that have natural radiation levels higher than what they currently have around fukishima? The japanese guy basically just said to make the public feel better. They knew it wasn't doing anything to help, it was basically just a PR campaign.
>someone speaking out against socialism is a bootlicker
are you literally mental handicapped?
>nuclear field it's really retarded how much moral panic
after fukishima nuclear power is dead. Its sort of like if they had banned airplanes because so many early designs proved to be unsafe.
So do conservatives just not care about the environment? How do you see that as anything but being on the wrong side of things?
Why do they dick suck trump so much? Don't they realize hes an idiot? Or are they still pretending to like him to piss off libs?
the birds meme is so atrocious. Isn't something like 67 birds are killed a day from windmills while thousands die a day from crashing into reflective glass buildings?
>They knew it wasn't doing anything to help, it was basically just a PR campaign.
You would be amazed how often this is the case. It actually blew my mind when I started working in this field. And ultimately that just results in little research that could make reactors even safter/more efficient. When I wrote my master's thesis one of the areas I was studying had only one paper with one data point. It's insane
its only dead in western countries where state propaganda has created huge panic so politicians can funnel large quantities of tax payer money into "green energy" to enrich themselves.
Nuke user here. The government still funnels a ton of money into keeping reactors going (especially the two owned by the military). They just don't really talk about it. If anyone here is in college and wants to make bank, go into nuclear research
140,000 to 328,000 birds (mostly big ones) are getting killed for a meme every year. and you can bet your ass the actual number is way higher but not reported
It's pretty obvious after watching Blue Planet, Planet Earth and Our Planet that wildlife exists in a narrow and precarious state of homeostasis.
We're basically killing wildlife diversity and you can't really disagree. The evidence is everywhere.
But let's be clear, politicians have come with up NOTHING close to a solution, and what it will ultimately come down to is technological advancement and urbanization.
We basically need to retreat to cities and suburbs and leave nature alone in rural territories without polluting water sources, like the ocean and rivers.
Also, people that litter should be shot. It's peak laziness and the human race would be better without them.
Isn't that why they banned blimps? Only because a very small minority burst into flames? I'm pretty sure modern airplanes are 100000x dangerous compared to zeppelins but it's okay because it's kerosene instead of hydrogen!
How come so called conservatives want to conserve everything but the planet we live on. Environmentalism used fo be a right wing cause not left wing. You do all realize Hitler was animal rights activist and vegeterian?
House cats unironically kill billions of birds every year
3,000,000,000 birds are killed every year from house cats (not including strays) so why don't we round up cats and genocide them all then? My cat has already killed 10-15 this year standing.
I really hate this guys voice
This. caring about blood but not soil is the ultimate hypocrisy.
neo cons are the same sell outs like neo libs. what revelation. meanwhile actual right wing groups do regularly garbage collections at rivers and forests.
yes. see that is something people considered with saving the planet could change. no rather hold a sign and expect the gubamint to save us all
95% of the plastic in the oceans comes from China, India, and Africa.
>When I wrote my master's thesis one of the areas I was studying had only one paper with one data point
How do you write a paper about one data point? Isn't that just like an observation
Also staying on the nuclear topic, wasn't there some guy who gave lectures around the world that would eat a small clump of radioactive material to show people it doesn't automatically kill you or something? lel
based
>Africa
Yes, because those starving niggers in the Central African Republic with a population of 4.59 million really love coca cola.
The west doesn't dump its trash directly into rivers anymore you shitskin.
>dude the planet is going to be destroyed
>let's ask power-hungry liars what we should do about that
Good point, instead we dump our trash in man-made lakes that pollute the soil around it and release methane in the air. We're so much better.
where does that happen?
Conservatives probably still care just as much about the environment as they did in 1990, it's just that environmentalists have turned into insane commie retards. So obviously they don't support that cause anymore. Even one of the founders of Green Peace has denounced the group as a fucking sham of an organization at this point.
>How do you write a paper about one data point? Isn't that just like an observation
That part was just an observation towards the end where I was talking about the need to do more failure tests on spent reflectors. It's just really shocking because essentially they don't have a great idea of when certain parts will fail so they replace them well before the one failure they've had occurred after 9 years (which had a different geometry than the current design). And the parts are pure beryllium so they're essentially wasting millions of dollars replacing them earlier than necessary
because he is watching it all dying you fucking retard
Glad you finally came around user, you were beginning to embarrass yourself
You expect people to believe your fairy tales but can't even defend one point before going on another tangent. There are places in China where you can't even see the sun because of the smog. Go talk to them about pollution you impotent coward.
>He doesn't "believe" in the fucking scientific method
Ok retard
what crazy weather are you referring to?
They just dump it into the Great Lakes that most of America drinks from.
I actually have a ma from a top10 uni and read a lot of the papers concerning climate change. we can discuss science all day, faggit
Wait, are you saying racial equity ISN'T related to environmentalism?
>What’s the harm in not polluting the ocean, getting off fossil fuels(which will run out), creating high speed rail
Billions if not trillions of dollars are stolen by corrupt politicians and we get absolutely nothing out of it. See: the high speed rail project in California that got PAID FOR and then CANCELLED. They used imminent domain to buy properties along the route before they cancelled the project and kept the desirable land.
why are leftis comics always so cringe and retarded?
Proof required. Why would you use this as an argument for your side when you want more government in control of the environment?
this but unironically
>tfw you live in Chicago and you have 20% of the words fresh water
>no earthquakes, fires, tornadoes, tsunamis, volcanoes or threatening natural disaster
>only niggers
What uni? Provide a picture of your degree with your name blacked out. You cant spell and have issues of anger. I doubt you’re telling the truth
They have a totalitarian outlook on life so they have no sense of self-deprecation.
>>tfw you live in Chicago
and the mayor is a black lesbian communist.
That money is being stolen right now for fake caravans, golf trips, and chain migration families in the White House.
At least this would help US citizens
we all are waiting for you awesome take down by scientific method. get to it.
google.com
Indiana, the home state of the current Vice President allows it.
Keep on one subject. This is why nobody believes you people anymore.
See? Just a liar claiming to be something they arent. Good ol propganda projection
the runaway temperature theory is nonsense for bearded nihilists too pussy to put the gun in their own mouth. the greenhouse effect decelerates- the more c02 you put into the atmosphere the less effect it has.
dont try to avoid here.
You brought up imminent domain. Which is what will happen with the fence.
Wasting your stolen tax dollars for something that can be dug under.
Now you’re changing the subject like all Trumptards because you have no solid ground to stand on besides “lol corruption”
Sometimes I wonder if people can get any more retarded and you just proved that they can, thank you.
Your Russian is showing in your broken English, comrade. Waiting on your “top 10 uni” degree. Americans dont call college uni, you fraud
1.3 ounces of mercury per year or roughly one shot glass worth. How much mercury does China release into the water each year?
found the bearded nihilist
how many billions have already been spent on climate change scams and what exactly have they done to help the planet with that money? fuck all that i've seen, besides making scumbags like al gore rich and funding more scientists to shill climate change
>stolen tax dollars
That's big talk from someone that doesn't work for a living. I guess maybe our tax dollars should go to just literally nothing.
The US doesnt govern China. Now you’re using whataboutism. Thats what the UN and climate deals are for, that your President backs out of.
Flint Michigan, go ahead and tell me they drink clean water from the lakes.
>muh scientific method
>ok lets talk about it
>avoid avoid avoid
topkek. btw there are top10 unis outside the us
does it get better after the second episode? The first one was good but full of CGI and the second is boring
Projection from a neet who wont post his claimed degree. The absolute state of Republicans. Lying on the internet about what they have, and then assuming things for other people.
Banning straws and plastic bags barely makes a dent. Want results, genocide china and india. Theyre responsible for the vast majority of all it.
Happy merchants talking down to blue collar laymen that they need to eat bugs and stop driving is a waste of time.
Found the Pseud who thinks he knows anything while posting on a Taiwanese basket-weaving forum about the environment.
You brought up scientific method and your prestigious degree. Now you’re changing the subject because you wont prove your lie.
>You brought up scientific method
no I did not
I never said to ban those things? Now you’re making shit up. The corporations are responsible for the pollution, not your shitty straw for your jizz drink
We're one world one people, remember? If you want the entire world to move here we can govern the entire world for the sake of stopping climate change. If climate change was absolute deadly for us why wouldn't we go to war with China right now considering they pollute vastly more than we do?
>Flint Michigan, go ahead and tell me they drink clean water from the lakes.
Are you an absolute fucking gullible retard? The reason the water in Flint was poison was because all of their pipes were breaking down because felonious nigger Democrats got elected to run their cities for decades. They didn't treat the water probably, the water got into the pipes, and the entire system decayed. You're conflating completely separate issues in an extremely dishonest way.
the greenhouse effect is decelerating, stupid kid.
>Mr. University research paper cant tell the different anons hes talking to
Kek
>who wont post his claimed degree.
I never claimed to have a degree you schizo retard. I notice you're trying to doge the issue and you're basically admitting you don't work for a living. People like you deserve not to have a vote because you don't contribute anything.
probably the record low violent tornadoes the US had last year. I will not stand for this type of extreme weather! I demand more violent tornadoes!
Well think about it. The earth had a certain amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere with several natural contributors like volcanos and forest fires. This balance worked well for eons, aside from the occasional asteroid or super volcano.
But then the human industrial revolution happens, where humans start digging up hundreds of billions of tons of stored carbon from the earth and burning that, releasing even more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
That additional activity absolutely warms the atmosphere.
Marine Environmental Science major here, I can tell you all first hand that
>yes, climate change exists
>no, it’s not really our fault, it was always going to happen
>that being said we do help destroy the oceans in a lot of other ways
>all in all the amount of money it would take to “terraform” the environment back to what is ideal for us is in the 60-600 TRILLION range
so as of now climate change is not my biggest concern because it’s simply unmanageable, I’d really rather focus on plastic in the oceans. I highly encourage you to all watch the documentary Plastic Ocean, I think it’s on Netflix and other streaming sites. And if your main inclination for not believing climate change/pollution in oceans/any environmental issue is because not caring about the environment is “owning the libs!!!”, congrats on helping (((them))) destroy our beautiful planet
Flint switched to polluted water so a car factory could use the lake water, under a Republican governor’s okay, so he could get his stock up. The polluted water ruined the pipes and now everything has to be replaced.
Nice try changing the factual story
A climate with many deadly tornadoes changing to a climate with no deadly tornadoes is still "climate change" and therefore bad.
What are you basing this on?
Nice reddit spacing!
You yelling “you dont work!” Doesnt mean i dont have a job retard. Go back to /pol/ where that shit works
Obviously it's the "easiest" source right now. Sure, we can synthesise our fuel and/or get the power from another sources, but this form has been here for decades and it "only" requires to "dig in the right place". And its there, and you can take it. So that's why the corps don't want you to think its here forever. It's not. We could make it, but this is easier and that's why it's making money.
>Implying that means global temperature growth is also decelerating.
Sometimes I wonder if retards like you even know what you're talking about sometimes or if you just want to seem smart to people who don't even care if you are. Oh and by the way unlike you I'll actually provide sources for my claims.
skepticalscience.com
fixing the ocean is the one thing the greens want to do that I can get behind, that makes any kind of economic sense.
yeah yeah, the temperature is going up we get it kid. nice link faggit.
warm summer
>muh global warming
cold winter
>muh entirely natural causes for such """"oddities"""" plus its winter so lol yeah winter is cold haha
So what you're saying is government fucked people over so we need to invest billions of dollars in government projects and agencies so the government can save us from itself.
Thanks for proving how retarded you are, nice discussion.
What do you do for a living?
i agree that we need to look after the planet better
i agree that the climate is changing, although it is due to greater cycles that take place over thousands of years
"climate change" (ie give us bags of money to do nothing) is a scam
What crazy weather?
Hurricanes have been on a decline; the planet has been far warmer pre industrial toned - the Romans had vineyards in England; it’s been much colder post industrial - 1930s.
Having said that I agree there’s no argument for NOT polluting the place but I draw the line at global taxation
>scepticalsciene
>I compile out of abstracts cherrypicked papers (without reading them) a nice narrative full of fallacies in the hope dumbasses dont realise it
every time someone posts this bullshit
>Instead of actually offering a meaningful refutation of the data I'll just cry cherrypicking and not even read the sources cited!
I hope you don't actually believe the shit you peddle.
Is this satire? So the 15 or whatever it was years with no major hurricane strikes to the US, was not global warming, but the last few under trump are caused by global warming. But the record low levels of major tornadoes are also global warming. below normal winter temps and above normal snow in the middle of the country causing flooding is also sign of global warming.
just read the paper. easy
How does one measure the global temperature and compare it to 1850?
Not him, but if you came to Yea Forums knowing anything about climate science and expected anyone here to be able to argue with you then you were the retard buddy, nobody in here knows dick about anything.
ice cores.
You're using outdated terms. Global warming is a trend that can be proven true or false. The correct, unprovable term is climate change because time the climate changes is now cause for concern.
Because humans have been accurately recording weather data for much longer than 1850?
There are ice cores around the equator to compare historical temperatures?
You might want to look into that site a bit closer, son
>Climate change thread
>not a single NOAA link in site
Cringe.
oceanservice.noaa.gov
Was was the normal global temperature for the Earth in 1750?
Their solution to all of those problems is to raise taxes. They don't have the slightest clue what to do about the worlds problems and even if they did the still don't want to lift a finger to do anything about it themselves. They just want to lash out at big govt/big corp and make themselves feel good because they stood up to the man.
I see that you were joking now, but it honestly is hard to tell with these "the sky is falling" idiots.
thats the problem, isnt it
sea levels change all the time
Flint Michigans water is polluted because the people that run the city are black and don't know how to maintain systems.
Instead of taking what's on the site at face value why don't you instead look at the data and review the sources that the site compiled and take an objective view of the data. I'm not saying that the site is infallible, but the data that they cite in their article is worth a reading. But you don't actually care enough about the topic being discussed to do that so don't waste my time with retarded replies unless you actually have something to refute it. Though I'll take the free (you)'s
Why can't we just make new buildings further inland as the sea rises?
>global normal temperature
>18th century
Yikes
Good question, why don't you fucking google it?
>There are still this many global warming deniers
Holy shit, is Yea Forums unironically filled with flat earthers or something?
>Instead of taking what's on the site at face value why don't you instead look at the data and review the sources that the site compiled and take an objective view of the data.
did you? if you did you wouldnt post it
Pretty sure climate deals also don't govern china.
You said humans have been accurately recording global weather data for "much longer" than 1850. The thermometer was first invented around 1720 I guess so 30 years is plenty of time for thermometer technology to spread around the globe.
i'll give them sea level but not tornadoes or wildfires or any of that other meme shit they try to scare people with. as far as i know sea level has been rising at a slow rate literally forever though.
>Might as well accept the fact that the planet will turn into Venus but 2020. ftfy.
They said we only have 12 years to go before its all over, 10 years ago, now we only have 2 years left minus the 2 years we lost because Trump oh shit today is the last day before we can play Fallout irl.
Sure, but you really gonna like it when all the millions of east coasters and fl*ridians move to your town? Not to mention if the east coast floods, that becomes the biggest pollution factor to the ocean (but it might be cool to scuba there in a couple centuries)
I actually did review the sources and can compile them into a list of links for your leisure if you'd like. However I can't force you to actually read them. How would you like me to prove that I did read them? Seems a little hard to do seeing as you didn't.
hows that job search going
it's not whether global warming is happening. it's whether it's a major problem that your country has to unilaterally tank the economy to deal with. turns out when things are pretty good after 30 years of people telling you civilization will end in 10 years you stop caring what they say
North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Washington, Florida, Arizona, and Utah are among the most rapidly growing states.
I have done, user. Many times. Which is why, instead of blindly accepting gospel truth from one source instead of reading around the subjects, you might learn something.
What makes you think this? Sure coasts change, but that’s natural erosion and sand deposition, and meme cities like venice are sinking because they didn’t build on stable ground
If they get their masters they might be able to get an unpaid internship.
Do you deny the dust bowl?
I can agree that the globe has been warming, and CO2 emissions are part of the cause of it, but I don't for a second believe that it will have a major catastrophic impact on the planet. These scientists have not been able to improve on their estimates of climate sensitivity to CO2 in the last 40 years. Even with the help of super computers.
>rather put up windmills
Go fuck yourself and your windmills, there's nothing worse than seeing a group of those disgusting poles ruining a perfectly fine scenery.
Climate change is absolutely real and has changed multiple times throughout history. Humans have little effect on it.
ok you read them. good for you. still the sly wordings to push a narrative, the unproven implications and baseless assumptions still escaped you.
Okay, if you actually did then give me data that refutes what I just offered you instead of just saying "heh yeah kid I'm so enlightened I know things you can't even comprehend!" enlighten me! That's the point of fucking discussion, give me the data that refutes my point of view. Fuck did you never learn how to argue? Did you even graduate highschool?
I’m still a junior, but I don’t give a shit about my major. I’m just in college to get my unlimited 3rd mates license so I can go out on a tanker and make some money with the boys
I'm sure you'll still be saying that when you're chest deep in water in your living room wearing a fucking snorkel you brainlet.
Serious question: what happened to global cooling?
Exactly now you finally get it, give the govt your money like a good goy they know how to spend it better than you.
The oceans and coasts were here long before humans were.
Global cooling is directly related to global warming user
have no worries, friend. even if all ice were to melt I would still be save and comfy
a major contributor to the dust bowl was the homestead act. the land had no business being farmed to the extent the government incentivized.
The point is more that the sources are always model predictions than raw data. Models are not indicative of anything than the presupposed opinions of those that make them. Look at how many engineers and statisticians sit on the skeptic side of the fence - they know that with complex systems running models more than twice results in utter garbage unless tweaked to hell and back. And let’s not get started on the data sets that even the MET office had to admit needed reviewing when there were temperature readings in there that were 6 year of temperature in the 60s centigrade or something ridiculous.
and it's almost like they weren't always at the levels necessary for society in it's current form to function.
i cant believe you guys deny man made climate change
it doesnt take much to just read scientific papers
So your only argument is that some data sets are unreliable? You don't have anything to bring to the table yourself? That seems awfully convenient for you.
And what about the scientific papers that say its a load of bullshit?
What do you mean by this? Genuinely curious
Computers weren't always at the levels necessary for society to function in its current form. That doesn't mean we have to stop computers where's they're at right now.
please link to the one
>oh noes we're running out if fossil fuels!
Let's say the oceans raise by two feet. How will that end human life?
The same land that is being farmed with no problem now? And has been for decades? Face it. It was hot as fuck in the 1930s. Extremely hot, and nothing live we've ever seen in our lifetimes. Even during the recent global warming scare.
my favorite part about climate change is when they tell kids that they and the planet will die in 10 years, which kills any drive or ambition the kids have because why give a shit when you're all doomed
Jesus he was too retarded to link the correct post.
we dont even know how it is/was created. my theory is that it is made by bacteria living in the crust and we will never run out
Often outnumbered, more often disproven. I encourage both sides to look up a scientific paper that support their argument, and read some of the critical reviews on it. If it hasn’t been peer-reviewed, it’s probably a bad paper
Now you’re just being silly. There’s no single data to refute. The IPCC are the body that are the go to for the predictions commonly used for the doomsday scenarios and there’s no shortage of papers/talks etc. picking them apart. One of their recent ones worked on the basis that technological advancement would remain static and discounted cloud cover almost entirely: one of the largest factors in local and global climate and impossible to model. I’m not pretending to be “enlightened” or any such thing. I read around the subject at length and there’s arguments for all wherever you care to look. What facts we do have are thus: every prediction from an inconvenient truth onwards has been spectacularly wrong
Except for the part where there's evidence that the processes needed to develop a substantial amount of fossil fuel take hundreds of thousands of years.
>more often disproven
Yeah I know the global warming papers are often disproven.
I'm sorry. I'm not perfect like you.
>We're basically killing wildlife diversity
Link?
maybe. time will tell
Too bad most papers are absolute crap anyway. Normies put too much stock in the authority of these PhD niggers.
I don't really have much faith in scientific papers these days. This most recent story is bad, but I believe something similar to it has been going on for a long time.
All I said was you might want to read around the subject a bit, user. I’m old enough now to have heard every scaremongering prediction so far be proven demonstrably false because this pesky planet just refuses to play ball. You can continue getting angry on the internet all you want, she’s going to continue doing what she wants with negligible influence by us, and will continue to do so long after we’ve gone either by her hand or our own.
It won’t, it’s just gonna simply displace a lot of people, which may not effect you directly, but it effects enough people for it to become a serious issue
What the fuck is wrong with you? What do you mean maybe? There is no fucking maybe. If fossil fuels were actually being generated at a substantial rate we'd be able to detect it by now. It obviously doesn't just "magically appear" by "magical bacteria" as you claim. What is time supposed to tell?
I never said I was perfect, however I'm not dumb enough to compare sea levels to fucking computers. Seeing as we don't actually need computers to have a functioning society. We did for thousands of years without computers.
wtf do you nigger know about bacteria and other shit miles down in the earths crust. exactly: nothing. so shut the fuck up
Dude do you even know what the fuck you're saying at this point? We have a pretty fucking good idea of what happens beneath the Earth's surface.
>pic
what's that? britain?
We don't need the current coastlines to have a functioning society.
>peer review
>climate science
Now I KNOW you don’t work in the university system. Publications are the professional equivalent of (you)s in academia.
There was an Aussie fella who worked on the reefs who was blacklisted because he wouldn’t toe the party line and he argued that they should introduce a 5% cut of all university funding to go to researchers who set out to discredit all the papers produced. A financial incentive to scrutinise the data and the methodology would result in much more credible results. I thought that was a great idea, logical and effective, so, naturally, it will never catch on.
no we dont. there are a handful of holes drilled that go deeper than a couple of kms. how the fuck do you know what is going on down there.
Wow what a remarkable rebuttal, except for society to function the way it does currently we kind of need coastal population centers to exist and not have millions upon millions of people dead or displaced.
You don't need to drill a hole to know what happens below the earth's crust you absolute fucking brainlet.
If the coasts moved we would still have coastal population centers. How would water rising 1/8th of an inch every year kill millions of people?
You do realize after the coast changes, new coastal population centers will appear right?
Everyone rips on Chicago, but just fucking wait until they come begging to suck our dick just for a sip of the Calumet watershed.
you do realise extremophiles live down there? how do you intend do study them if you cant reach them? jesus are you retarded
you might just be the dumbest nigger on a website filled with braindead retards. congratulations.
>funding more scientists to shill climate change
You're a fool if you think people are "shilling" for climate change. It's a real phenomena, and no matter how much people say it snowing during winter means climate change isn't real doesn't mean it's not happening.
Why does every single solution involve paying people money?
>
>disproven
GTFO with that crap. The only things disproven are the AGW based global circulation models. They can't predict shit.
>hurr durr lets spend trillions based on the predictions of a FLAWED SIMULATOR
What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about paying people, did I?
You should never, ever by proud of your retardness
I hope you aren't serious.
Let me break this down for you. 1/8 of an inch of sea level rise annually may not sound like a lot, but over 30 to 50 years it's enough to erode natural barriers that allow coastal cities to exist. And while people can move, we can't move infrastructure. I really hope you're just memeing at this point.
People have been saying this shit for decades. No one is being flooded out. The Maldives are still around. Manhattan is still around. These faggots are basically the left equivalent of neocons saying everything is about 9/11.
>believing this shit
You probably also think the world is going to end in 12 years.
You said people weren't shilling for climate change causes. Why does every single solution involve us paying someone else money?
luckily there are iq400 big brainer with 0 arguments like yourself
here's one
bbc.com
That's just something I found off google.
My understanding is mostly based off everything I've read and seen the past 5 years. Monarch butterflies disappearing. I was born in the early 90s, and when I was a kid bugs would routinely splatter on the windshield, that rarely happens now. Bugs are the lowest trophic level and problems show up there first.
Increasing levels of C02 acidifies the ocean and threatens phytoplankton which produce most of the oxygen on the planet.
Plus there's obvious evidence of over fishing.
Why are people investing in coastal cities if they're going to be gone in the near future?
Over 100 years that equates to 12.5 inches, or one foot.
Tidal variations far exceed that, and it's unlikely any existing coastal infrastructure would be destroyed or people forced to move.
That's Florida you moron.
Hell, the abnormally cold winters in the North American Midwest have been theorized to be due to the warming of the Arctic Circle leading to breakdowns in the Jet Stream and allowing polar air to seep down to the lower latitudes (climate.gov
Because you're too fucking stupid to understand the problem and wouldn't accept money to fix it anyways. We have to pay someone else because you drink bleach like it's fucking orange juice.
>bbc
You're assuming a steady rate of increase over the next 100 years, which is incorrect. The rate is increasing rapidly with each passing year. In 100 years it's perfectly possible for there to be as much as a 3-5 foot increase in global sea levels.
Chicago is the best big city in the US. Third biggest in the US. And why the fuck would you want to live in NYC or LA. The cost is insane unless you're in the 1%.
Big culture for way cheaper
>Because you're too fucking stupid to understand the problem
I'm just a fucking idiot. I need to shut up and give you my money for my own good. Gee, I wonder why nobody is believing in climate change.
user, you can have proponents of climate change arguing with each OTHER over the same data sets. There’s not even consensus within the consensus. But ok, I’ll just say the same thing to you as I say to everyone else who is so sure of the future: we’ll see.
Why would you want to live in Chicago? The chance of getting murdered by an uppity negro is like 60+%.
>my bugs on the windshield!
It is preposterous to suggest that a warmer, high CO2 atmosphere would reduce rather than increase biodiversity. You can spot the person who knows jack shit about Earth's history and about biology by this claim.
Life fucking loves warmth and fucking loves CO2. How much biodiversity do you think was on the planet when those fossil fuels were living animals and the planet was a tropical one?
Because humans are terrible and looking ahead into the future and prefer to live in the present, as indicated very obviously by the cumulative opinions held by many people here especially. You can't expect millions of people to halt their lives for something that may not be a problem for them in their lifetime. But poses a really real threat to their children and perhaps their children.
The planet hasn’t been greener in recent memory, my man.
Florida
So you need to run their lives for their own good.
>You're assuming a steady rate of increase over the next 100 years, which is incorrect. The rate is increasing rapidly with each passing year.
It literally is not. Stop claiming things you've never looked up or verified.
>In 100 years it's perfectly possible for there to be as much as a 3-5 foot increase in global sea levels.
In 100 years it's "perfectly possible" for the sun to explode and wipe out the Earth. Far more likely our sun will be fine. Also far more likely that sea level rise won't even equal 1 foot.
CLIMATES GONNA CHANGE ANYWAY, YOU CANT REVERSE IT
ICE AGES AND WARMING PERIODS THROUGHOUT THE GEOLOGICAL RECORD, JUST NOBODY WAS AROUND TO BITCH BACK THEN
RIDE THE HBOMB
I'm not saying we need to run anyone's lives. But admit that there is a problem and look at feasbile economic solutions to either gird coastal population centers or mitigate human contributions to global emissions.
Is it hard being retarded?

I eagerly await your rebuttal. The rate of sea level rise is increasing with each passing year we've known this for decades. What many doomsayers have been wrong about is the projected rate of increase.
so thats your reason why we shouldnt look after the planet: because the activists apparently drive suv's

Carbon emissions are directly threatening our lives and our childrens' lives. As just a braindead idiot that doesn't know better, can you explain to me how taxing people that produce the deadly carbon is solving the problem?
I don't give a shit about anything you are taking about.
However, the bbc is a fat sack of shit lying organization.
>because he is watching it all dying you fucking retard
One person posting a picture of a single data set does not indicate that there is no problem. Give me your evidence that proves it yourself please.
Who's paying for what? You can't fix a solution like climate change without paying some money.
And that's part of the reason they get such bad winters up by the Great Lakes. Cold air coming down from the Arctic doesn't holds onto moisture very tightly. When it passes over the lakes, warm air from the lakes heats the cold air and that's when it snows. This happens more often these days because the lakes don't freeze during winter like they used to.
Yeah, scientists do argue over the data. They generally agree climate change is real though, they're not sure how much Humans affect it though. And yeah, we will see.
>because the activists
no that's why we should call them hypocrites.
I never once said that we need to tax people to solve the problem.
>climate change is real
No one denies climate changes, user.
because of billions more people looking for food not because of climate change
>Who's paying for what? You can't fix a solution like climate change without paying some money.
Fixing climate change would be stopping completely the things that contribute to climate change. Stopping an activity doesn't require any money.
What is the solution to the problem then?
Nice straw-suv counter-argument
>he goes to a maritime school
Unironically the smartest person in the thread, talk about a good job market
I also never claimed to know the solution to the problem as well. But you should at the very least admit that it exists. The money exists without needing to tax people extra to pay for it. Maybe you should petition your government to stop spending hundreds of billions each year in defense and instead divert those resources to something that has the potential to better society in the long term?
I KNOW A GUY WHO SPECIALIZES IN MARITIME LAW AND HES ROLLING IN IT
Can anyone explain to me why global warming fanatics oppose nuclear energy? Do they not really care about the environment? Why does the left hate the environment so much?
>The rate of sea level rise is increasing with each passing year we've known this for decades.
The article you cite contradicts that claim and presents this as "new information." It also quite frankly doesn't give enough details to determine whether or not the new estimates are worth a shit because it's an article for the masses and not the source paper. Keep in mind that NASA predicted in 1988 that parts of NYC would be underwater by now, see: , so it's entirely possible this is a shit estimate.
But let's assume this new prediction is accurate. They're predicting a two foot rise which is still smaller than tidal variations and unlikely to threaten the vast majority of coastal infrastructure.
Keep in mind that the Earth was warmer during both the Roman and the Medieval climate optimums and both historical records and archeological evidence indicate coastlines roughly the same as we have now.
I've spotted you, yeah. Bugs are extremely sensitive to their environment.
Have you seriously not noticed fewer bug splatters? It's been pretty obvious.

That's good. No one should deny it.
You're right it shouldn't cost any money. But we all know corporations would rather watch the world burn if it meant they could make a few extra dollars in the inferno. I don't know what we could do in that case. It's a tough decision to make.
>Maybe you should petition your government
>he thinks that works
I advise that you reread that post.
Our planet doesnt give a shit what you do to it this rock is billions of year old in 10,000 years everything humans have done to it will have appeared to have never happened in the first place so shut the fuck up you virtue seeking climate change faggot.
But it could be getting colder - would stop be a change
>It's a tough decision to make.
What's the decision we're making exactly? I'm not trying to be a dick. I'm trying to understand your point of view. What's the touch decision we have to make because of the corporations?
>the building block of life on Earth
>"deadly"
STFU
If you had read the graph you would know it's not "one data set." And if you knew anything at all about science you would know that when a theory fails in its predictions, that theory is falsified.
There is no problem. Anthropogenic CO2 emissions will result in a 1-1.5C temperature rise, with 2C being the absolute worst case. All the UN's dire predictions of death and destruction require a 6-8C rise which will never happen unless our sun starts pumping more energy.
>climate change
user the continent you live on right now once has savannas in fucking Iowa thats how much hotter the Earth was in the Miocene period so a little warming of the world wont mean much. Look on the bright side the arctic will finallly be livable.
I advise you to find the argument of that post because I can't see it.

Nope. It's still going to be a frozen shit hole.
>insects
Who cares? Arthopods predate land vertebrates they will be here long after we perish.

yes
>and totally real
yes
Climate change will eventually make Greenland literally green user due to getting rid of its ice sheet for good.
?
Because stopping the corporations who basically power the world wouldn't sit well with most people. We can't suddenly stop all the coal factories from using coal for electricity until we find a permanent replacement. But I don't know what that would be. Some anons ITT have said nuclear power would be a good alternative, but I don't know enough about it to comment.
You want solutions?
1. Invest money into de-salination research in an effort to bring down cost. Fresh water sources are being depleted around the world and with temperatures rising to greater extremes, it will be that much more vital that access to cheap, fresh water be ensured to avoid conflict over water sources.
2. Phase out coal completely. Transition to a combination of wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, nuclear, and natural gas where appropriate. As farmland becomes unworkable due to declining aquifer levels, replace agri-farms with renewable energy farms.
3. Water rationing across the Great Plains, cut back on corn subsidies. nationalgeographic.com
4. Harder tax penalties, on both domestic and foreign (via heavy tariffs) fisheries and lumber industries that do not engage in sustainable practices. Push for more sustainable and long-term focused practices that minimizes the eco-impact while still allowing for society to continue with a lesser impact.
5. Plant more trees, not for some glorified CO2 recapturing folly, but to delay erosion. I refer to the Great Green Wall of Africa. Desertification is expanding in parts of the world and that will cause problems as people are displaced by this. (Also re: water)
Just some off the top of my head
Yeah retard and back then Antarctica wasn't in it's current position where it alters the jet stream to cool the fucking planet down.
Also, news flash moron, the Miocene was actually a major cooling period because, ta-da, Antarctica was in position to cool the planet down.

Humans are forcing natural processes that take millennia or longer to occur in centuries. Our planet was a lot warmer millions of years ago, but that was done through natural processes that took millions of ears to get it that way. We've already raised the planet's temperature a few degrees in the last 200 years alone.
Listen retard our species survived the goddamn ice age you think a little heat is gonna do anything? We were forged in the heat of Sub Saharan Africa so this will be nothing to human beings. Famine caused by climate change is due to brown people being dumb.
>Conservatives deny climate change
>Climate change displaces 1+ billion mud people from the lower latitudes
>They all migrate to western countries
>The shock and scale of the displacement leads to the collapse of western civilization
Poetic desu
Our lives depend on stopping coal though. Why not stop it tonight? Because it's an issue of money and not an issue or life or death.
>Climate change will eventually make Greenland literally green user due to getting rid of its ice sheet for good.
No. It may make small parts of it livable. That's about it.
Bugs did exist during the age of the dinos. This is not the age of the dinos.
They will probably survive, but the point is that they are the canary in the coal mine. The environment is changing, and a large part of that is likely us.
We are the asteroid this time. And we'd try to blow up an asteroid that threatens life on earth, don't you remember Armageddon?
Yawn until forest begin igniting on fire constantly shut up ok.
Yeah we survived the ice age and nearly got wiped out due to a fucking volcanic explosion. Maybe we're fucking weak to fire and heat dumbass.
>>Climate change displaces 1+ billion
Go fuck yourself with this mindless bullshit. Climate change is so drastic it forces a billion people to move? Why haven't people had to move in the US due to it?
>the USA are the entire world
You're a disingenuous little shit. The heat wave in 2012 broke most of the records set during the Dust Bowl and average temperatures are much higher throughout the year than they ever were during the 30's. It's a real wonder why your chart stops after the 90's. The farmland is worked much differently now using modern techniques and equipment. It's not even comparable.
You are literally retarded if you think insects will ever die off, may I remind you those fuckers survived far more extinction events than us mammals.
You think climate change means people will die due to heat exhaustion?
What did NASA mean by this?
youtu.be
Toba caused a cooling effect dumbass.
Just accept increased state control and lower living standards, goy. Don't you want to save the planet?

Why would niggers even more during climate change? Africa getting hotter means it just rains more in the jungles.
>1. Invest money into de-salination research in an effort to bring down cost. Fresh water sources are being depleted around the world
No, they're simply being mismanaged. Example: California letting most of its freshwater flow to the ocean to protect a fucking bait fish.
>2. Phase out coal completely. Transition to a combination of wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, nuclear, and natural gas where appropriate.
Phasing out coal will do nothing. If you actually believe the IPCC's dire predictions then nothing short of transitioning everything to nuclear ACROSS THE GLOBE will work. That means if China and India aren't on board then nothing else matters. It also means no natural gas, and the remaining energy sources can barely do shit.
>As farmland becomes unworkable due to declining aquifer levels, replace agri-farms with renewable energy farms.
What the fuck does energy source have to do with freshwater availability?
Also: the core of AGW theory is a positive water vapor feedback. Without that CO2 cannot cause the warming predicted. How in the fuck is it possible to have an atmosphere with more H2O yet less rain?
>3. Water rationing across the Great Plains, cut back on corn subsidies.
Has nothing to do with climate.
>4. Harder tax penalties, on both domestic and foreign (via heavy tariffs) fisheries and lumber industries that do not engage in sustainable practices. Push for more sustainable and long-term focused practices that minimizes the eco-impact while still allowing for society to continue with a lesser impact.
Has nothing to do with climate.
>5. Plant more trees, not for some glorified CO2 recapturing folly, but to delay erosion.
Has virtually nothing to do with global climate. Only barely affects local climate in some instances.
>April 6th
>Temperature just climbed above freezing today
>Still lots of snow outside
Could really use some of that global warming now. Spring was supposed to arrive a month ago.
The US, has had by far the best weather stations over the past few hundred years.
>Our planet was a lot warmer millions of years ago,
It was warmer during the Roman empire and right before the little ice age.
>Bugs did exist during the age of the dinos. This is not the age of the dinos.
>bugs adapted to huge changes then, can't adapt to 1C changes now
wew
>We are the asteroid this time.
>1-1.5C change = an asteroid impact
wew lad
Weather stations in the US can't measure the weather for the entire globe.
They kind of do now. That's why California, Texas, and Australia are always in the news about forest fires and droughts.
Is she autistic?
>tfw all I want is the next generations to suffer
I guess some people just want to watch the world burn
The U.S. ground data set is the best in the world and quite frankly it's still shit. This is why James Hansen at NASA was able to play games with the ground data and claim "muh warming that will flood NYC!"
The satellite data set is the gold standard, and you have to be careful with games even then. There's tremendous financial pressure on everyone to 'toe the line' on AGW and adjust past data down to make today's data look worse than ever.
Australia has plants adapted to forest fires meaning its natural over there.
I refuse to do anything about that until calotards incinerate themselves.
There are literally california trees that only reproduce by fire so quit being a bitch about it.
How warm was it during Roman times? Prehistoric Earth was like 30 degrees Fahrenheit warmer.
>California fires due to climate change
>not gross forest mismanagement
I have a friend who is a firefighter who is literally triggered every time Cali claims the fires are all the fault of climate change. He can list the changes to forest management that happened during his career which made everything worse.
To be fair, California is on fire because 1. Hobos and 2. it’s hell on earth
>It was warmer during the Roman empire and right before the little ice age.
Right, and if you think that everything is cyclical, what do you think will happen when the planet naturally warms and combines with our man made warmth?
>How warm was it during Roman times? Prehistoric Earth was like 30 degrees Fahrenheit warmer.
Note that much warmer. Warmer than now by a little bit (i.e. 0.5-1 degree). I'll see if I can find a graph.
california and iran waste all their water to farm gay ass nuts. but nobody uses their nut-money to build a reservoir.
I honestly can't tell if this post is serious. 2012 was indeed hot. But it was absolutely nothing compared to the 1930s. My "chart" was just a snippet of the hottest part of 1936 in Minneapolis. There were more 100 degree days in that one month in 1936 than there have been in my whole 30 years living in minneaplis.
>Right, and if you think that everything is cyclical, what do you think will happen when the planet naturally warms and combines with our man made warmth?
Nothing because our "man made warmth" will amount to nothing more than 1C, maybe 1.5C.
There is no positive water vapor feedback. That's where every AGW model goes wrong. That's why this graph exists: Absent a positive feedback CO2 is a weak GHG which can't alter the climate by much at all.
We're less than 2°C away from areas in India, asia and the middle east having 50°C+ days with 80% humidity. People aren't going to just sit and live through that. They're going to migrate north.
I understand this requires thinking into the future, which might be a little too big brain for you, but give it a shot.
The 1930s were hot as hell, and were so naturally according to the IPCC themselves.
People who live down there can take the heat they arent white people you idiot.
>migrate north
You mean move to Europe oh no no buddy when nature fucks up your land you die in it.
THE BIG ONE WHEN
SHIFT ALREADY FAGGOT TECTONIC PLATE
BUT LATERALLY ALL THE WAY INTO THE OCEAN LMAO
There's trees like that all over the world. That doesn't change the fact not all trees are adapted to fire, and that's part of why the fires are so bad there. Though what and said about forest mismanagement is true too.
>tear up family and migrate to an unfriendly country
>build air conditioner
hmmm
Also:
>india
>50C day
>imagine the smell
India hasn't always been hot?
Europeans came from Mesopotamia
India getting hotter is due to deforestation not climate change you remove trees the ground heats up much faster which in turn heats up the air above the ground.
No we came from the steppes
>India
>migrating
Fucking hell. Whatever you say user. Whatever you say.
Which arent in Europe either lmao
How fast does the ground heat up when it's covered in shit?

>Scientists and professionals are wrong about climate change! You cant trust them!
>But scientists are right about niggers being dumb! Why do the Libs deny the proof!
Depends on how wet the shit is.
The only people who dont think niggers are dumb have never been around them hence all you liberal 90% white area living ass cucks. Every non black that lives around niggers hates the shit out of them especially mexicans.
I think you're ignoring the impact of emissions on ocean acidification and what that can do to the global biome.
I also think it's more accurate to say that man made emissions will act as a multiplier. I think the 1 to 1.5C you're quoting is based on pure emission studies, not man made and natural changes.
Niggers being dumb is easily observable, unlike "climate change".
>scientist
Literally every race that encountered blacks called them dumb animals.
>collapsing ice shelves arent easily observable
>it's caused by man
That is not easily observable, friend.
Climate change is observable too. Antarctica and Greenland are losing ice. Droughts are occurring on every continent. Deserts are spreading further north on every continent. Migratory animals like monarch butterflies are migrating later. Pollinating animals like bees are becoming rarer (though is mostly due to pesticides, but climate change still has an effect).
Whether it's caused by man or nature doesn't disprove it exists. Even if nature's doing all the work, we should still be cautious. Not blindly pump more and more chemicals into the atmosphere because "lol, it doesn't matter it's all nature doing this."
>it’s a “Yea Forums has a fairly civil and informative debate about climate change” episode
> "lol, it doesn't matter it's all nature doing this."
IT MOSTLY IS THO
IF WE ACCELERATE IT A BIT WATEVS
THE CURRENT ANTHRO COMPONENT IS LARGELY DONE BY THE 3RD WORLD SHITHOLES ANYWAY
BUT THEY SAY SINCE THE FIRST WORLD GOT TO EXPLOIT THE ENVIRONMENT WAY BACK WHEN, WHY CANT THEY DO IT NOW WHEN ITS THEIR TURN? THATS UNFAIR :( AND RACIST! :^)
Get with the program sweaty, now it's "climate catastrophe". Stand by for "climate armageddon" two years from now.
I don't understand.
LITERALLY LET INDIA AND CHINA KILL THE PLANET OR ELSE YOU HATE YELLOW AND BROWN PEOPLE OKAY RACIST?
the word is RETARDATION you fucking imbecile
You dont hold yourself to a higher standard than poo in loos?
People call India and especially China out for their poor environmental policies all the time.
but climate change is bad and real
Unless you're willing to genocide them you won't solve shit. So I'll keep eating meat and driving my car, thank you very much you watermelon bastards.
WE ALREADY EXPORTED MUCH OF OUR POLLUTION THERE SO ITS CUTE TO CLAIM A HIGHER STANDARD
WE CALL THOSE PEOPLE RACISTS
