Watched the first season, and enjoyed it. Haven't watched season 2 yet for reasons.

Season 1 was great but I cannot get past the first new episode.

season 2 seems okay so far but muh oppression speech nancy gave in ep. 4 to the other two spook gods was cringeworthy

So what, his first scene was great in season 1. There was no on the nose, heavy handed shit in that speech. They just for incredibly lazy and stupid with the writing here.

Anancy is a trickster and act like a race baiting nigger because it will get all sides up in arms, the whites, the blacks and especially the viewers. He wants war at any cost.
His speech is a massive bait and the writers know it. There's nothing more effective than a racially controversial taunt

While it does make sense for Anansi to be acting that way, it's like the writers are using a character that sort of could get away with acting that way to be as over the top with their shit as possible by injecting personal politics into the speech. If someone on the writing team was a 14/18 KKK type dude and he created a character that was a manifestation of white supremacy, let's say blonde hair, blue eyed, Jesus with a clan hood in a Nazi outfit, and the character went on a 5 minute rant about "ONCE UPON A TIME THE GODS WERE PURE! THEN LIKE THE FILTHY IMMIGRANT NIGGERS THEY ARE THE NEW GODS STARTED HOPPING THE BORDER AND STEALING OUR FOLLOWERS!" people would be raising eyebrows.

Anancy 2nd speech has rised eyebrows. Outside the usual virtue signalling shredditors, normal people are questioning his 2nd speech like we're doing it here.
And yes, like you said the writers are using him to bait viewers into a controversial debate while defacto taking a convenient political stance

Probably. Starz doesn't have a record for long lasting tvseries if i'm not mistaken. Despite being renewed for a 3rd season i don't see this show going much further. Some of the actors like mrWorld are fantastic though
