Video games are a superior medium than film when applied on its own strengths. E.G. Gaben's approach of giving the maximum amount of player agency and reaction in the story. Video games only become objectively inferior when they railroad you through a linear sequence to tell you a story.

Nah not really, the game quality is 90% atmosphere and the atmosphere only works with the game design. They'd have to shoe in a bunch of melodrama to keep the story and pace going for a movie, and there would be no way to fit in all the little fights either.
Really ODST only works as a videogame, and to be honest the only Halo story that would work as a movie would be that book full of short stories, forget its name. Now THAT had some kino worthy of adapting.

They were going to, Spielberg was supposed to start on a Halo TV show soon after 3 came out, but it never really came together.
They're working on a show now, but I don't think Spielberg's involved, so it's most likely been worked from the ground up as a completely separate project from the one 10 years ago

Halo borrows heavily for sci-fi movies like Aliens or Starship Troopers, so a competent director can work with the atmosphere, especially if O'Donnell is doing the OST again
As for ODST, he could work as a movie with a tone similar to black hawk down or band of brothers. You just have to make sure that it's an introduction to the Halo universe and eventual sequels with the Master Chief
Fall of Reach would be good also but the animated movie was just "meh"
