Ant arc is like 5 kino episodes lost in an endless ocean of shit. The pacing is atrocious; there are tons of awful characters with tedious, unnecessary arcs.

There’s far more fighting in the Ant arc than in most of the previous ones. One of the unique things about HxH is how frequently situations are resolved with creative solutions instead of just fighting. People say the pacing is shit in the Ant arc because the pacing is shit in the Ant arc.

I don't see how Naruto is a good example, as in HxH fleeing is a response much more used than in Naruto. Of course I'm not talking about a manga where the character never flees, but rather a manga where the power rank is thoroughly respected.

Gon isn’t strong enough to defeat the antogonists for the entirety of HxH, actually. He consistently gets his ass handed to him, and almost never pulls random power ups out of his ass to win fights.
Training arcs are common, but HxH at least does them in interesting ways. Nen is a pretty good power system, and the ways they learn and improve are actually well thought out.
Other people in the thread also mentioned how frequently situations are resolved in ways other than fighting. Shit like: trying to steal an ID tag with a fishing rod, a dodgeball tournament, and learning how to make money at an auction.
Seriously, you’re entitled to your opinion. If you think HxH is garbage, that A-okay. You did watch 2,000 hours, so you can decide for yourself. But if you think HxH is a generic Shōnen, your opinion is dumb.
