>most of the movie isn't plot-related, just scenes of Arthur dreaming of a better life as a successful comedian
>a few lines are taken directly from Killing Joke, Dark Knight Returns and the Joker graphic novel
Oh and one last point
>there is a sort of narration throughout the movie but it's all spoken in present tense
>as the film goes on the narration is revealed to be more of a voice in Joker's head
>the more unstable Arthur becomes the more unstable the narration becomes
so he never wears the purple and green suit? sucks
Nah the film really tries to avoid going full comic book, it basically just steals a lot from King of Comedy and Taxi Driver instead, nobody even uses the word "Joker" throughout the whole movie, he just gets called "The Clown"
Sounds like it could unironically be kino.
figured as much. would be nice to see classic joker on screen. even leto had the white skin instead of the stupid face paint
Remember when they said Leak threads usually die down quickly when they are right? I saw the thread from yesterday and oddly nobody feeded it. Quite same here...
>Arthur tries to confide in his neighbor
>he mistakes her compassion for flirting and she rejects him
Blue pilled.
Cool this be a prequel to The Batman movie coming out in 2021?
Nah they really try to establish this as its own thing with no chance of it getting a follow up
>no clue to Bruce becoming Batman
>no sign of other villains
>Joker would be around 60-70 by the time Bruce is an adult
>fucking nothing happens
Damnit Todd Philips
Does not sound bad
Probably fake
Sounds disappointing. Was expecting more.
Sounds good, then again after The Master Joaquin can do no wrong in my again
It feels like Todd didn't really want to do a Joker movie so much as a Taxi Driver remake with Joaquin. If it wasn't attached to the DC franchise and Joker's name it probably wouldn't come across as such a letdown.
I have serious doubt on the spoilers since there's no reason to not have Joaquin be the inspiration for the Joker at the end.
There's no downside to doing it, since it wouldn't hurt the film, and it'd keep people happy that there's some semblance of continuity to whatever new Batman movie there is.
I thought there were some leaks saying Joker is a actually Bruce’s half brother or something?
I think WB are happy to put the movie under an Elseworlds label but they're waiting to see if the movie actually makes bank, then on home release it can just get an Elseworlds label slapped onto it and they'll see what else they can do with it (looking at the possibilities of doing a Red Son movie)
sounds quite simple and boring, but i doubt it's true as this is the sort of "plot" you would put together from the trailer and released pictures/footage
There's a one-off remark where Arthur's mom mentions how handsome Thomas Wayne is and that they had a high school fling which hints that Arthur's father could actually be Thomas, but nothing is fully set in stone
Was thinking this myself
Memes aside, sounds kino
what's the source on the leak? is it some user saying it or from another forum?
Elseworlds is a great idea to do, but with Batman desperately trying to be pushed forward and a new Suicide Squad, they'll need a new Joker since Leto was a joke, and too busy. Wouldn't make sense to not try and work with this incase it does really well.
capeshit franchise fags in a nutshell
about half right, could be based on an older script.
some details he gets wrong:
>arthur being taken to police
>followers crash stolen ambulance into cop car and take him back with them
>arthur kills the wayne family then taunts bruce
>mother and him both have degenerative disease
>several scenes where he robs pharmacies for meds
>more scenes where he experiments crushing up psychotropic drugs and drugging his audience(later followers) with them - develops the joker venom this way
>mother taken to arkham and dies in her bed, arthur believes the guards killed her to shut her up, likely suicide
>threatens gordon's family
>alfred is never named but clearly in the movie
>no "ultimate joke" shit, never names himself "joker" (he is called a "joker" by deniro, who he drugs on live TV)
>earlier scripts focused more on killing/gun violence - changed after irl shootings, joker rarely uses guns now and opts for mass-druggings.
>psychologist says he's doing it to make the world as crazy as he is
>end scene is him dancing by himself in an interrogation room, confident that his gang will get him out
some other user so take it with a pinch of salt
Leto Joker wasn't the original anyway. He was planned to be an insane Jason Todd.
I always thought that was just some fan head canon?
this was just a retarded fan theory
Sounds fucking awesome, what's wrong with you plebs?
False. Snyder already said the dead Robin in BvS was Dick Grayson so there is no Jason Todd in the DCEU.
yeah, J J Abrams should have directed it and put in loads of callbacks, because that's what makes movies good.
This desu
I'm actually amazed you think any of those things would be an obstacle in any way.
I'm amazed you think Joaquin Phoenix would be happy to sign onto a capeshit franchise when he repeatedly refused to join Marvel because of the multi-picture deal
>wanting the characters to look like they should means you like le references
no retard. i just want them to look good
literally WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY
>Arthur dresses fully as a clown, hoping it will improve his performance
Was it autism?
you know what would be really cool? if the kid from the trailer was the joker from dark knight and instead in this movie we follow "the clown" who inspired the kid to become the joker. It would explain the joker's obsession with wayne/batman.
>expecting anything decent from the makers of capeshit post Bane scene
