3 easy steps

>Go to a respected film/animation/VFX school
>Build a great portfolio
>Suck off the right people

just work as a non-paying intern for 5 years and maybe you can earn below minimum wage at a anime company

Learn japanese.
Draw really well.
Prepare to have no life but work.

i don't want to keep making the same garbage they keep shoveling out seasonally. i hate the shows it currently makes and would like to change that issue myself. i question the ethics of joining it as a foreigner if i approach it that way, but if you want things done right do it yourself i guess. im willing to suck the right cocks and work on forgettable garbage if it means i will prove myself, work my way up, and begin changing things. soon the whole island nation will speak farsi to honor me. that is the plan. wish me luck.

I just moved away from Japan last week. I was working 16-18 hours 5 days a week and my pay didn't cover my cost of living. I had been expecting to work a second job but my employer lied about the overtime. I lost about 700,000 yen over the course of the year. :(

how the fuck does anyone survive there.

gotta learn Japanese. Like N2 is bare minimum. Can be achieved fairly quickly if you work at it and can memorize quickly.

Then be decent at animation, which in itself takes years. No real course for that other than practice for years.

Moving over there can be a crap shoot, but getting a job over there while not being japanese is also up to per luck. Racism still exists in corporate Japan.

So yeah, years and years of work, then get really lucky.

Conversely, make some good shit in the country you're in, then have enough influence to work out some kind of deal to have a company produce an adaptation of your work. I mean Supernatural had an anime lol.

>$9400

people who can barely draw shit make more than that on patreon drawing shitty ero comics.

They get paid more than 140,000 yen a month for full time work like I was, live with their parents, ride bikes, and only eat rice.

>brap and ugu into microphone
>over half a million a year
it's not fair bros

>speak japanese
I can speak some but im amateurish
>learn animation
ive been teaching myself since i was about 15 years old, im 19 now but will hopefully be good enough at the end of university
>get lucky since racism exists in japan
>work out a deal from your own country
thats probably my biggest dilemma is the ethics. i dont wish to permanently live in persia and view myself culturally as non japanese, yet i wish to innovate in their industry. i hold the belief that japan is for the japanese and being reluctant to allow foreigners in is something i cant blame them for. however i dont wish to assimilate into the culture and wish to change their foreign industry. i also believe if theres nothing appealing about living in a foreign place why go there and to let japanese people deal with japanese problems. thats the root of my dilemma. i dont know if i want to run the risk of being an entrepreneur in my home country to avoid being an interventionist.

*permanently live in Japan
kek

>Then be decent at animation
Have you seen how badly anime is animated and drawn these days?

Here's the black pill though:
If you want to actually animate anime, move to korea or china, because that's where all the work actually gets done now.

You must be 18 to post here

because
a. american animation is 90% cgi and the 2d animation is all low budget tv crap for kids
b. japan is also crap but has a broader market appeal and still has 2d animation to a greater extent than america.
c. i dont care about money, just good art. i dont care that im given better job conditions, if i wanted to live an easy life and make easy money id look elsewhere

yes most anime looks the same and its all mediocre tier. textureless, featureless, uninspired, simplistic blobs and pandering garbage. i hate it and want to see it change.

Why not be an animator in Persia?

yeah it all moved to korea and china cause they can pay them fuck all to do it. so why the fuck would you want to do it

being truly decent at animation should mean you know how to shovel crap out the door. Being a good animator (like any good drawer/illustrator/etc.) doesn't simply mean taking 100 hours to pump out a masterpiece of art, it also means being able to churn out good enough quality content really fast.

Korea and China have costs of living at a fraction of the costs in Japan. You'd actually be making money even if the pay is lower. You can't survive on 10,000 dollars a year in Japan.

because iran is shit and japan has greater potential for original works. but whether i like it or not i am persian so i should have more loyalty to my home if the japanese want to be left alone. the most ethical choice would be for me to be an entrepreneur here or maybe in america.

Why not be an animator in the U.S. who starts making furry porn on the side then realizes it makes an incredible amount of money for basically no effort so you quit your job and make furry porn for a living instead?

> japan has greater potential for original works
Rofl my dude, you need to get your head checked. There is literally nothing original coming out of Japan these days. except for a couple of elite studios that would trash your application without even opening the envelope. Plus, as an animator you're a glorified assembly line worker and will never, ever have any influence over the work.
If you actually want to do original animation, then stay in Iran and try to get a government grant or something.

doesn't really sound like a dilemma lol. Everything you've said seems to be in favor of NOT going over there. I studied abroad over there, then did the teaching meme. You can't change their culture, it's not possible, even if you did have the same genes. No one 'stays' over there either. Obtaining citizenship is another crap shoot on top of the 3-5 other crap shoots you already had to deal with. It's to go over, fuck around for 3-5 years, then come back and realize you have no marketable skills and are a few years behind your peers.

Real talk here, don't waste your time with going over there for work. We have the internet. You have the willingness to work, so do it yourself. Make small stuff, put it on youtube. It more than likely won't get a ton of views, but it can be a quick access resume for gigs in your own country that pay 3 times what you'd get in japan. And hey, say it does take off, well set up that patereon and see where that goes.

On top of that, with all the time you'd save not hammering away at the language or dealing with immigration paper work or sitting on a train for 2 hours to get into the city to walk 30 minutes to get to a cubical, you could be practicing your craft or making your own product to release online.

Hell, you can publish shit online using a Japanese name and if you're good enough no one will know the difference lol Remember that low budget ninja show that went nowhere

Also, you can still learn moonspeak if you want, but at a much more relaxed pace and not at the expense of your work.

What are you talking about? There is more opportunity in poor countries for creative works because living and labor is cheaper. You can start your own studio and hire animators there yourself for dirt cheap and raise money crowdfunding online for shorts and make your name. Literally everything you need is free and you do the labor yourself if you need to. You can even cut the labor to nothing by making comics instead. Avoid politics and religion and you won't get censored. Original works in anime are all self produced and self funded by animators outside of the actual industry. The industry itself only produces derivitive genre entries. Get a day job and start producing your own stuff where you are. I'm from Canada and I didn't have that option because rent cost more than I could make working so I moved to the Third World and I have a short film in post now.

Japs are one of the most onefficent shits i have worked with. They just sit on their ass all day, clock in mad hours and call it productive. Fucking posers. Best work ethic I have worked with are aussies and germans. Germans are literally like robots lol

japan at least has an fictional animation market. its dying, unsustainable, and mostly produces throwaway material, but there's still a shred of potential. their 2d animators haven't been compromised like americas, the still have a bigger audience for unorthodox works than america even if the otaku audience is in full force, they have growing international attention which means more potential market, and i dont know if i could risk it all here at home.

I know someone like this.

>randomly ask them what's up
>"oh you know, just drawing a humanoid raccoon with giant tits"

>mfw I make more money than a fucking Director or, God forbid, an Animator in the Anime Industry, working as a Security Guard in one of the lowest-paying States in the Union

Granted, I work a lot of Overtime, but it's Overtime doing fucking nothing, whereas Animators work like fucking slaves.

I guess I need to count my blessings.

Attached: Shocked Karin.jpg (640x360, 31K)

that's what "living the dream" pays you in many careers

I just found out the other day that there's a seiyuu culture, and now my youtube is filled with recommendations for translated seiyuu radio show clips, and I click them all

You're probably really really bad so it doesnt matter

>CG animators get paid more than twice what traditional animators get paid

This is the problem, right here. This needs to fucking change.

Attached: Unamused Homestar.jpg (337x386, 13K)

If you make a few good shorts your cultural ministry might give you some money to do original animations. Way, way more likely than a brown man making it in japan as an animator.

>College Student
You get paid for that in Japan?

Right now CG is more specialized. it'll probably flip flop when CG becomes more of the norm and 2d animation becomes the niche thing.

It's gonna happen, only a matter of time :,(

2D will prob stick around in the form of manga though. But then again, American comics often use CG or computer assets for backgrounds, so who the fuck knows what'll be the norm in 20 years.

how old is this chart? 9400 has to be less than welfare and even those people get free or subsidized housing + food and other shit. why would you work a grueling job for less money then you'd get sitting on your ass doing FA

Trying to be an animator is the biggest regret of my life.

in countries that aren't crapholes, they pay college students a stipend so they can focus on their studies, because it leaves their society much better off versus forcing college students to either have rich parents or to juggle work with school

You have to start as an inbetweener and an inbetweener does not make enough money to qualify for a work visa.
So good luck with that.

That only works in countries where college and university are considered serious endeavors that have clear, well paying careers at the end of them.
Try doing that in america and you will have millions of english lit and sociology majors who become a lifetime net drain on the economy.

not the absurd pay a voice actor gets for saying uguu and hawawa in front of a mic?

Because the Arabs conquered it like 1000 years ago

those are really cheap things to teach, it's just that the tuition system in the U.S. is also retarded which encourages colleges to inflate costs so they can take every last cent the federal and state governments offer automatically as loans. The problem isn't so much sociology majors - why not have them in service/hospitality/etc. jobs and work their way up through the ranks? - it's the massive debt they all go into for what is basically just paying one person to lecture at them for a few hours. You don't need labs or construction projects or whatever for that

This, I majored in fucking international relations, imagine your tax dollars going to pay me to look at maps and jerk off over theories written by dead people.

based karinposter

That's actually really useful, I'm just not sure how the networking process works for slotting you guys into appropriate jobs, which I assume isn't great given your discontent. I mean we only have the society we do because of trade. People getting offended over something inconsequential like the incorrect pleasantries can easily cost actual millions in lost economic activity. I just don't know how businesses find those right people as they want the job experience first, then the people experience second.

Even if the government paid for education entirely and price fixed tuition to be significantly lower, those students are never going to contribute to the economy. e.g.

>3 year college stipend = $60k
>3 years of college = $25k
>Whatever shit retail job they can get with their worthless gender studies degree = $20k per annum.
>Tax paid on $20k income = near $0 per annum.
>Benefits for being low income = food stamps at minimum, more if they're a POC woman or etc.

The end result is that they will never, ever pay that education back into the economy through taxes, let alone make a positive contribution.

>getting paid more to work less than you get paid to work more

This is the real dream worth living.

Attached: Chicken-chan Oh Yes.jpg (396x536, 111K)

This is only worth doing in countries where Academia isn't bullshit, like Japan.

If you expect Americans to pay college-students welfare to support them while getting their degree in Combating Cis-Sexism through Interpretive Dance you can fuck right off.
Leftists can unfuck education first BEFORE expecting people to dump more money into it.

>it'll probably flip flop when CG becomes more of the norm and 2d animation becomes the niche thing.

I thought it was already the case.

Voice-acting and acting of any kind is always specialized and overpaid.

Traditional animation requires more skill than 3D animation and produces a better-looking end-product, despite both being EQUALLY specialized. That means there's no reason a 3D animator should be being paid more than a 2D one.

Anime needs to die

I'm not brown I am white blonde northern Iranian, browns always have gulf arab dna.
yeah idk about that. seems like I'll have to work several jobs
arabs dont have much sway on our country as russia does. arabs suck western cock and vice versa.

I don't know but the characters from that chart are from "Shirobako" an anime about making anime (yup) which came out 4-5 years ago. Also have to consider if the maker of the chart are putting out actual numbers or just shitposting

And be reborn.

>chief animator
>a woman

literally never ever

because gib me dat immigration to japan

i dont want to live there permanently retard

Get on twitter, show your portfolio aka animation, there are many gaijin animators now. For example this girl is from US, she's been doing animation for anime for a year already. Learning Japanese also helps. Also, be sakuga otaku if you want to broad your knowledge and deepen your skills.
twitter.com/gem_ch18/status/1112723485439246336

I have been a big sakuga otaku since early teen years, so I have observed many high quality visuals from the last 3 decades.

YOU JUST KNOW

Attached: Screen Shot 2019-04-05 at 6.27.37 PM.png (112x212, 51K)

Don't do that unless you are ready to sacrifice yourself for us weebs. Working in Japan will kill you.

or "woke" comics

I don't get why anyone would want to be animator. You are like a little replaceable insect working yourself to death making someone else's stories.

9400 USD in a year? Do those animators work in multiple series?

DOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOT
I am Japanese and animators are literally considered the hell job, everyone wants to do it and it's much cheaper/better letting other countries do it (for example Korea/China does more than half of animation thru 外周)

Animators all try to flee to NA so they can get good pay, in Japan it's not good at all

Especially because every otaku kid wants to get into animation, the market is red ocean.

Just remember the one that draws all the backgrounds shots and scenery etc in anime is usually on triple what the regular animators are on.

So the guy who filtered and drew the background here is not getting paid the same as the pleb who drew the characters.

Attached: 1554321069166.png (1920x1080, 3.48M)

But if I want to be the next Bahi JD?

There are maybe five or so A-list voice actors at any given time. The anime voice acting industry is pretty pump and dump. Once you start getting too expensive, they dump you in favor of younger more desperate people, especially if they have a nice face and can sing well so that they can push the whole pseudo idol thing.

>the market is red ocean.

I will be stealing that, very nice metaphor.

Companies prey on people's passion in this type of industry.
Guy is a major character in the show and is a giant pushover that had his wife divorce him.

Being an A list voice actor is not an easy thing at all and you basically have no freedom. At least if you go the Seiyuu Idol route, where most of the big money is.

it's very frequently used term in Japan, I think it's very technical economics term but everyone use it in Japan

get into 3d animation, my friend graduated from US art college and he doesn't work normal job and make 3d porn online and make 100k+

Countries that are a couple decades behind in anime distribution probably haven't hit the mountains of dead weebs that are going to work for anime or master the katana like we have yet.

A friend if mine got in by killing himself. He's earning big bucks now.

Only one in a million non-asian people have the patience and talent to make decent 2d animation. I've been practicing for 10 years and I'm still shit, how do those fuucking gooks do it FFFUCKKK

i don't know anything about the industry but desu as an artist/animator you'd be better off doing yiff/clopper commissions

>how do those fuucking gooks do it

It's literally hundreds of people animating very small portions for no breaks. A western work ethic just cannot compete.

>persian
so half arab half mongol?

Attached: 1552767185009.jpg (1270x1136, 280K)

Anyone here who wants to be anime animator: Please don't do it. It's a dead end job where you'll never get anywhere. You will NOT be the guy who creates a awesome fight sequence, you will be the guy who creates some boring kawaii uguu shit that nobody remembers. If you have a passion to create something, aspire to be a writer/comic artist. You actually own everything you do AND you have way higher chance to actually be successful and even make cash. And top of that, you don't have to move to some insect country to work yourself to death. Live is too short to be a little cog in someone else's machine, create your own stories and art god damn it.

Attached: 1551263710719.jpg (732x959, 56K)

>I dont wish to assimilate into the culture
Then stay the fuck out.

Holy shit
Do people want to be an animator that badly? At least in other countries with bad pay the cost of living is way less, but this is Japan.

No, just blonde indo aryan

ever hear of disney golden age

>make le epij 3d porn get a lot a money
literally everything i want to avert

in movies. for shows theyre largely cg rendered now

i dont know. i would be happy if the risk meant i had a possibility to get the opportunity to make something of my own

which is why i dont plan to live there forever. i will respect their culture while im there but they behave like insects and i could only tolerate it so much.

Japanese companies sound like hell to work for.

>There is literally nothing original coming out of Japan these days

Complete bullshit.

Mangaka is harder to become you need actual talent. Even being a production assistant is not fucking.

No it's 100% accurate. Competitions in Japan literally have to ban Isekai stuff from being entered now because so much repetitive drivel is being shoved out of it.

>There is literally nothing original coming out of Japan these days

Last season had a series about WW2 planes fighting on a dying planet, plant nanotech creatures exploring a country sized crashed starship and 100% serious war series with magical girls.

Next season has a series about lesbians in music industry of colonized Mars.

Those are just few examples. Japan is not even close as creatively bankrupt as Western movie industry.

Isekai spam is the exact opposite of what you are saying. It means even crappy authors can create successful series and get funds in Japan. Most of top LN authors started their careers making fanfics.

>It means even crappy authors can create successful series

And that's a terrible problem, these nips just want the same shit over and over again. It's not creative at all, as long as you write something you can self insert into, nostalgia fap to or just regular fap to you can have a hit in the otaku industry. None of these stories are worth reading, it's just cheap disposable entertainment.

Persian here.
Why shame your family like this? Why not become a doctor, or lawyer, or engineer?

It's a niche genre. There are 2-3 isekai series per season max. Out of 40. It just replaced the haremshit spam of the 90's.

>100% serious war series with magical girls.
> lesbians in music industry of colonized Mars.

Honestly, look at what you just wrote. I'm 100% sure all the fags that loved Strike Witches and Girls und Panzer will love those too. You know anime is made by committee and all these projects go through dozens of meetings and already know exactly how many copies of it they can sell and to who exactly it is being sold to. There's no originality, there are only new hats.

Jesus Christ I've been employed for almost 2 years at my current job and in another year I'll be making more than an executive producer, and I'm just another cog in the machine at my level. What the fuck?

>You know anime is made by committee

Biggest hit of the last season is not made by a committee. It's a passion project made with tiny budget by a studio with 10 animators.

Attached: [HorribleSubs] Kemurikusa - 12 [720p].mkv_snapshot_20.01.743.png (1280x720, 1.38M)

So this is why anime always looks like shit, they're giving all their money to VA's.

You are shitskin subhuman.
