Under the metallic scales and seamed polymer of Alita's body, the sinews of her back rippled like the ocean.

Each individual muscle in Alita's back pulsed, flexed, contracted, the movement then spreading to her limbs. Waves of tension and relaxation ran up and down her back, arms and legs. The subtle lines of stress down her shoulders that Voiceanon had recognized when she sat down were gone.
"It's like a whole deep-tissue massage in twenty seconds. All knots, all aches gone."
She turned around to smile at Voiceanon.

"It's nothing, it's just... what's that smell? This is some kind of oil?"
"Frankincense oil," Alita replied. "Do you think I want to go around smelling like a garage? Scented oils for machine bodies have been around for quite some time."
Voiceanon was still holding her hand up, sheepishly, as if she didn't know what do do with it. She couldn't help but feel pins and needles with Alita's eyes fixed on hers.
Alita took her hand in hers and stepped even closer.
"Don't worry about the massage. You just have to build up some strength here."
She ran fingers across Voiceanon's palm, stroking the base of her thumb.
"Just keep practicing and these hands will be nice and strong."
At some point her fingers had become intertwined with Voiceanon's.
"But to be honest..."
Alita slipped her other hand beneath Voiceanon's hair, her thumb oh-so-softly grazing the back of her ear.
"...you didn't just want to massage me, did you?"
It was at that moment that Voiceanon's knees gave out, but it was no trouble to her or Alita.
