The best fantasy movie next to Fellowship of the Ring, but the editing fucking sucks. Why does it feel portions of dialogue are cut out and the flow of conversations now make no sense?

Boomer here. I rubbed so many off to that fairy and the girl from Till Tuesday when I was a kid.

Ridley Scott has always done choppy editing, it gives some of his movies "realism" but does shit for a fantasy

You probably watched the theatrical version, which really was edited to shit. The director's cut is much less spastic.

Nostalgiafags still cry because Scott took out the synth score for the original orchestral score but it was 100% the right choice, and even if you like the old score the DC's just so much more coherent it's not worth going back.

Weird. Watched this last night. There was so much glitter. Tim curry was brilliant.

>Alien
>Blade Runner
>Legend

Remember when Ridley Scott movies had that unique aesthetic to them? What happened?

He got older, more complacent and less adventurous. That's what happens with age, even great filmmakers. Almost every director becomes washed up eventually

bongs are watching it on telly

This movie is pure fetish bait. I'm surprised it's so forgotten.
>that whole sequence where she pretends to turn evil

Was this a kid with some ageing or like a degenerative muscle disorder? He was great in it. The voice dubbing was creepy.

>that scene where she dances with that black dress that possesses her
Childhood boner.

>but it was 100% the right choice
You white bread eating faggot.

This is a good thread.

What was he significance of the unibrow? Does it represent evil?

>Not preferring the memorable Tangerine Dream score
>Preferring the boring, forgettable Jerry Goldsmith

The part with the dancing dress used to scare me.

Different strokes but I love Goldsmith's score. Tangerine Dream is great but their music makes the film feel like a long music video on MTV instead of a dark fairy tale. And the pop song at the end? lmao

I mean it's pretty much what nightmares look like. Even the weird architecture.

probably my favorite movie from child hood, I know some people shit on it but it really did have that ethereal atmosphere to it

Patrician. The director's cut actually makes sense, whoever edited the theatrical version must have thought "well we don't need all this story shit, let's just splice together all of the cool scenes." Also in the TC they show Darkness at the very beginning, while in the DC he has far more impact because he's more mysterious and isn't revealed until around halfway

>you are the same faggot that watched TRON 2 for the soundtrack
>you also liked Ladyhawke and A Knight's Tale for the same reasons
Your taste is shit LMAO

That's david bennent, he is 5'1 but is a chad because he's been doing sex scenes since he was 11

Attached: David Bennent.jpg (1280x1086, 143K)

>LMAO
He just beat you because you showed you have a girl brain.

Oh fuck, I hated the soundtrack to Ladyhawke so damn much. I would say it ruined the movie but the dull story that wasted the fine cast already did that

>When he was 11 he starred in The Tin Drum,[2] which caused much controversy because he was shown in sex scenes with an adult.
>At age 19, he starred as Honeythorn Gump in the film Legend, co-starring alongside Tom Cruise and Mia Sara.[2]

I have a soft spot for 80s fantasy movies, so I sort of enjoyed it. What is it about the 80s fantasy movies that seem different? High level of cheese? I liked krull too

The problem I had with Ladyhawke is that it wasn't a classic fantasy adventure just a hackneyed romance with a thief character, and some kind of anti-religious theme? Anyway I love Krull, especially the villain The Beast. Him, his fortress, his army of Slayers, really sparks my imagination.

Labyrinth
Return to Oz
Never ending Story
Dark Crystal
Willow
Ladyhawke

All had a particular feel

No ageing or other disorder. Hell, when I was 18 / 19, there were others the same age around me that were smaller and looked much younger for their age. Also, regarding the dubbing, apparently one of the suits at WB didn't like David's original voice because, and I quote, he said "he sounds like a damn Nazi!", so the woman who played Blix had to dub David's lines. When it came to the directors cut, Ridley Scott wanted to restore David's original dialogue but couldn't find it. The only way you can hear what he sounds like as Honeythorn Gump is if you get the German DVD release and listen to the dialogue in German (to which he had to dub). You can read more about Legend here: figmentfly.com/legend/index.shtml

He’s not a dwarf either or has what devito has. Who knew. He looks pretty normal now. Cool fact. I couldn’t imagine a German Gump.

That's Bryan Ferry and David Gilmore you zoomer cunt.

I knew that, your point is? I don't remember stating Tangerine Dream did the song

What are some other fairytale kino movies?
I'm in the movie for fairytale themed things
And I don't mean fantasy in general, more kinos that actually evoke the feeling of a fairytale

Attached: Legend3.png (1920x1080, 2.68M)

He plays an adult, just one that refuses to grow up, because he is an allegory of nazi germany

Princess Bride?

I Iove many 80's fantasy films such as Neverending Story, Legend, Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, but I found Krull a snooze-fest.

hush hush settle down now

Willow, A kid in kind arthurs court

>damage control

>figmentfly.com/legend/index.shtml
this page and the director's commentary are fascinating

The synthscore made the movie. Bland and forgettable without.

Legend is genuinely one of the movie's I'd love to watch as a kid since it literally felt like transporting me to a fantasy world.
The whole scenarios are still superb.

He worked with worse composers.

Krull.
Still takes me away every time i see it, despite how cheesy it can be.
The design for the spaceship interior. >_>

>autism

The actual story and editing are better in the DC, but release versions synth soundtrack brings the magic. Don't even like synths, but this film soars with them.
>Directors Cut visuals with Original Release soundtrack = True Patricians Cut
fuck it bros, I'm going to finally learn editing shit and get this done, it is now my only way forward
