When trying to control a direction the dragon is flying, it’s opposite what you’d do for horse. objectively untrue, even if it's your first watch. The show jumped the shark with Yara's attempt to rescue Theon halfway through Season 4. That was the scene that broke the show for a lot of fans. After that point, you start noticing the other flaws, which begin to pile-up in Season 5.

The thing is, if you go back and re-watch the series, you start noticing a lot more problems, but during your first watch, you're still suspending disbelief so you could enjoy it despite the few problems. For instance, the Tryion/Bron/Pod brothel sequence in Season 3 makes no goddamn sense and is just weird. Season 4 is actually really off in a lot of ways. It's pretty clear that The Red Wedding was the goal and everybody making the show starts to get bored after. Even the actors begin letting their accents slip in Season 4. The tone of the show changes. Shit starts getting more surreal and over-the-top like the midget jousting at Joffrey's wedding.
