Would you trust Disney?
Would you trust Disney?
If the 3rd movie is based on the novel it doesn't matter who makes it, it's gonna be turbo shit anyway.
But to answer your question, no.
Hell fucking no
No.
only if it has full frontal nudity
the revan book is ass
just make a kotor movie a two parter, no summarization needed.
Or they could just make a movie about the events after kotor 2. Just retcon vitiate out of existence and all the retarded shit that went down in the book
No and Bioware already ruined the Kotor era with that shitty book and the MMO
The Revan novel is beyond shit. Why would even adapt it. And the games' plots are too big to be adapted in only one movie.
Kotor 1 would have to be split into 3 movies like this:
>The Endar Spier, Taris and Revan's training on Dantooine
>finding the star maps on Tatooine, Kashyyk, Manaan, Leviathan and first confrontation with Malak and the plot twist
>the last star map on Korriban, Rakata Prime and the final battle on the Star Forge.
To be honest Obsidian retroactively made Kotor 1 better, and K2 was infinitely better in almost every regard.
yep because Kotor 1 was a cheap copy of A New Hope and Revan was only interesting in Kotor 2 when he was treated like a legend
KOTOR is unadaptable. The story is too big, and most of it you're told about through exposition.
The MMO is actually surprisingly decent, now at least. I don't know how it was at launch.
For everyone saying the Revan novel it's shit, care to explain why?
I read it a couple of years ago and I liked it (and this is coming from a guy who loves Kotor2 and dislikes SWTOR).
The MMO is decent... for just playing through the class stories. The pvp is so fucking bad, and the character models look disgusting and are so incredibly stiff. The shared class stories is such a huge drop in quality compared to the class stories.
Revan and the Exile getting jobbed out for starters. These are two people who ran through entire armies of Sith and they get destroyed by a Sidious/Nihilus mashup. Also there are lot of plot holes like the Exile somehow healing her wound in the Force.
Not a fucking chance.
Yeah, I agree about that. I don't care much for the MMO stuff, I just played the single player content. The Sith Warrior and Sith Inquisitor were a lot of fun imo.
There's no way you'd split KOTOR into 3 films, that's ludicrous. Your pacing of each movie would be shot to shit and the structure would be fucked.
You'd have to include pre-KOTOR events and have the Trilogy look more like: Mandalorian Wars > Rise of the Sith > KOTOR
Even then KOTOR would still be your biggest issue in the adaptation. The "twist" would be completely ruined, unless you've somehow found a way to not show Revan's face in the first 2 films, and the structure of KOTOR's story is purposed purely for a video game. You'd have to chop and change really heavily to make it work for a film, especially the end of a Trilogy.
The MMO is actually as the same levels of Disney Wars, in fact the MMO history was so bad THAT NEVER become canon in the old canon
>There's no way you'd split KOTOR into 3 films, that's ludicrous.
Why?
It's nothing like Disney wars. It's a clone wars/OT ripoff more than anything else.
>The "twist" would be completely ruined
I'd say that there is no way to keep the twist even if you start with KOTOR, but then I remembered how normies somehow got through Game of Thrones unspoiled about things like Jon's real parents, or him dying.
>The MMO is actually as the same levels of Disney Wars
Clarify your statement. I've played the MMO quite a bit, and I'd say it's mostly prequel level of quality, with only occasionally becoming kino.
When I said it's as the same levels of Disney Wars I'm referring and how it fucked up the entire Kotor era same as TFA did with the post ROTJ era
Not really. I hate what they did to Revan and the Exile but they still managed to delay the Sith invasion by 300 years and rebuild the Jedi Order. Compare that to Disney Wars where Luke fails completely and utterly.
Exile got fucked over so hard in the novel its insane. It also completely misses the feel of Kotor and Vitiate is lame as fuck . Scourge is mildly interesting, but the entire way events pan out in the novel is pretty bad imo.
Read the next line.
There's just not enough happening in KOTOR to make that work. The fucking Battle for the Endar Spire would be lucky to last 10 minutes, and even then it's a literal tutorial mission in the game, you'd have to change it almost to the point of being unrecognisable if you wanted it to actually be a thrilling opening sequence. Taris is basically a pathetic investigation mission, what's your dramatic high point going to be? The swoop race? Which again would require absurd re-jigging to make work for the purpose of a film to the point where it's barely even the game-story anymore.
Sure, if someone just used the basic outline of events in KOTOR and found a way to adapt that through extreme changes so it could work as a trilogy then alright. I just don't think there's enough in the game for it to actually function as a well structured Trilogy.
Not as far as I could throw the weight of every single employee there combined.
>TFA make it Rebels vs Empire again
>Bioware shit turned the Kotor era into Clone Wars vs Imperials
Yep it's really fucked, and that's without mentioned No Darth Vader or the biggest Mary Sue villain in existence that's have the power of Nihilus, Sheev, Goku ultra instinc and is good looking have 2 empires can resurrect when he wants etc
The KOTOR era was fucked up in KOTOR2. And if you liked it, you probably liked the Last Jedi too.
To make a boring fetchquest film? Yes.
Tonally they are way too different to form a cohesive film trilogy imho
You would be right if you said in KOTOR 1 when Bioware changed the entire aesthetic of the setting to rip off the OT style, KOTOR 2 piss on everything that Kotor 1 did wrong
The 300 year timeskip is stupid as fuck too. It'd be better imo if the battle was fought between exile, revan, the new jedi exile trained, and the allies they made along the way, like the mandalorians, HK-50s and whatevers left of the republic.
I always imagined whatever sith would be left would be fairly small in scope, as infighting and being persecuted by jedi would no doubt take its toll.
Maybe the big bad would be a sith that saw pretty early on that the infighting was gonna fuck over the sith so he froze himself and everyone loyal to him in carbonite and he called to Revan from the unknown regions from his carbonite prison and thats how Revan got turned in the first place idk im no fucking writer, i just really hate what bioware did to kotor, shouldve kept Avellone
>Yep it's really fucked
Maybe but the Sith vs the Jedi confilict has always been a reoccurring thing in the expanded universe. Starting with the First Split, then the Second, the Great Hyperspace war, Exar Kun, Revan, the Triumvirate, etc. TOR just did it again.
> No Darth Vader
Huh?
>the biggest Mary Sue villain in existence that's have the power of Nihilus, Sheev, Goku ultra instinc and is good looking have 2 empires can resurrect when he wants etc
This I agree on. Vitiate is shit.
They would NEVER even attempt to do a straight, "true" adaptation, & it'd be shit anyway if anyone did, because such an incredibly huge amount of the backstories & worldbuilding that give it depth is all done through a fuckton of exposition. It works in the games (most of the time) but would kill a movie & be excised to shit anyway because there's no way to fit 20-30 hours worth into 90 minutes.
Optimally I'd love to see someone like Panos Cosmatos have a free-reign run on it (as long as he doesn't shit the bed at the end like he did with BTBR), because he's VERY good at conveying things & worldbuilding without the use of dialogue. But that would never happen, he'd be stymied as hell trying to fit their allegorical narrative bullshit in there, and ultimately anyone who trusts them with this is fucking begging to be massively disappointed.
That's what Obsidian wanted but LucasArts fucked everything up.
>I liked KOTOR setting before it was ruined by KOTOR 1
Have we reached peak hipster
>No Darth Vader
Kotor 2 probably has the best star was setting i've seen. They really convey a feeling of hopelessness and desperation, in a galaxy reeling from two successive wars. It's TLJ done right, and it's fucking shameful that roundhead took inspiration from kotor 2 and obliterated it so fucking hard
I was a huge fan of Star Wars until George Lucas sat down with a pen and a paper and wrote "Fade in: Space". He ruined it.
He's nothing like Vader though. His personality is completely different. If anything, the Darth Vader of the game is the Sith Warrior class.
I bet you are one of these that clap everytime you see a AT-AT
I actually liked the sith warrior storyline, if you ignore alignment and play sort of lawful evil it's really fun, as instead of just mindlessly murdering everyone you usurp Baras' powerbases, I actually think the sith warrior better represents what inquisitor is supposed to be, I honestly found no depth in the inquisitor storyline.
Yeah, the warrior is the best story for me too. The inquisitor is okay but it lacks the focus of the warrior storyline and Thanton is lame compared to Baras.
Have you played imperial agent? The story is so good, I feel bad it's stuck in this shitty game. Jedi knight was good too, but not as good as Warrior and Agent.
I think we can all agree Consular is the worst.
Yeah I've played all of them over the years. Sith Warrior twice, imperial agent knight and smuggler im midway through second playthrough, but havent played in a good while
absolutely not
Fuck no, I wouldn’t even trust Lucas with KOTOR II.
>Revan’s story
>one movie
Utter pleb, Revan’s story would need to be a trilogy. Learn to adapt
