From the beginning DC should have seen what Marvel was doing and decided to do the exact opposite.

Instead of a conected world, they should have used the opritunity of standalone movies to tell outlandish and different types of stories that don't need to worry about fitting into an established world.

When Marvel was going Captain Marvel, they could have been doing Red Sun Superman. When Marvel was going Iron Man 9, they could have been doing Batman Beyond. When Marvel was going Avengers 2, they could have been doing The Flashpoint Paradox.
And ONLY THEN after a decade of unique interesting stories that only work thanks to their separate continuities, DC can slap back at Infinity War with their own Crisis on Infinite Earth's bringing all of these different stories together for a huge crossover.

So much potential. But no, they had to copy Marvel because Jews will be Jews. Monkey see monkey do.

DC also needs to do three things

1. turn batman beyond into a live action tv show
2. turn static shock into a live action tv show
3. turn sandman into a live action tv show

DC needs to drop Marvel and form their own identity. WB had it so good right up to BvS, good or bad at least it was different and had something to say instead of playing it safe. And now we have glimpses of good DC films with Aquabro, WW, Shazam and now Joker. Embrace the Elseworld stories and make kino.

The most fucked up thing about the DCEU is their animation and small screen projects kicked ass for literal decades. Instead of getting people from those involved they thought it would be more productive for every studio executive to collectively fuck a doorknob with Zack Snyder on the other side of the door. He gets a lot of undeserved shit, but he was a bad fit for Superman. But there are tons of projects they he could have done to give DC movies a decent feel above the MCU shit. But the coke heads in WB were just in a rush to do ANYTHING after Marvel made its first billion. It's like they all looked at each other mad as fuck and yelled "DO SOMETHING!" at each other at the same time when they had plenty of people working and doing a great job.

DC should start making low budget indie niche films of indie comics like transmetropolitan, Y the last man, madman, savage dragon, sandman, witchblade, etc

DC assets as standalone movies have always been better than the DCEU attempt. Its time they realised its standalone movies/trilogies works best for DC characters.

I don't know. I've never actually taken the time to think about a cast for it. I think the book itself would be perfect for a series, though, as we hop in and out of these people's lives. Plus, I'd love for people to get an Amy Racecar episode with no explanation whatsoever and then have everything go on as normal the following week.

People forget that at the time no one wanted to touch Superman because the character was too hard to write/direct for. It took Nolan and Snyder who was willing to tackle Supes and make the damn film. It's happening again now that Snyder is stepping away.

THIS. And say this as someone who reads comics: Unlike marvel comics, where most characters comics share the same climate and vibe, in DC things change too radically from comic to comic. That makes it reading DC comics WAY more interesting, since you are never eating the same dish and can read 20+ comics at the same time without feeling burned, but it makes crossovers weird to say the least. Reading Batman in a Batman comic, where stuff is gritty, dark, and edgy, and then seeing him on Justice League, a comic with a lighter tone, is somewhat weird, and makes Batman just seems like a gary stu asshole. Gotham noir tone, light, and unending violence justifies his actions and behaviour and make it seems almost obligatory, but that doesn't translate well in crossovers. That freedom to create it's own tone usually makes for more interesting stories and greater arcs, but this is obviously not crossworld material.

I'm not saying they should drop the cinematic universe stuff, just that it shouldn't be the main focus, like BVS to Justice League. It should be something more rare.
