>2hr montage of plot points from the book
Apart from some set/costume design and the navigator this was complete shit why did you trick me into watching this drivel?
Low bar set for Villeneuve I guess.

It's not that bad but the cut is awful, the depiction of the Harkonnen is a major problem and the last part of the movie feels accelerated and bad resolved. It's a nice complement to the book tho and the soundtrack it's pretty good
Which version should I watch? Saw the theatrical cut ages ago.
despite its flaws I respect the effort of everyone involved. I can watch it begining to end and enjoy it because I love the source material and the visuals and performances are timeless.
just read the book and you'll be glad that you did as well as understand the struggle of fitting it all into one movie. the cost of having it make sense was the terrible pacing. if the fincher film was a trilogy with all the same actors and screenplayed as such it would be a masterpiece. no doubt
What bothers me the most is that none of the themes or ideas of the book are there. I don't think the jihad is even metioned, if I recall. It's just the story, without the substance.
They see LYNCH on it and they feel the need to praise it no matter what
Denis-CGI-Villeneuve?
Most of the themes are actually there, but they receive a bad treatment. Ecology and messianism are very important to the plot and are poor explained in the movie
It's fucking astounding that Lynch managed to use the crutch of hearing characters' thoughts so much, but still avoid any of their motivations. It takes a truly abysmal director to do both.
>Ecology and messianism
Yeah, these two are what i missed the most
ITT:
Not really, the film was bad received back in 1984, and today the general consensus is that it's a poor executed movie. Dune fans can spot redeemable qualities on it, but nobody else give a fuck.
uh, that's David Lynch, not David Fincher
The topics are there but poorly developed. The last scene with the rain acts like an epiphany: Paul is the Messiah and Arrakis will be green some day.
This, Dune is his best work.
The spice eyes of this wojak are better executed than the ones in every Dune adaptation for theaters or tv
When is the new Dune movie coming out anons? In 2020? I heard they just started shooting now.
Yes, 2020 it's the date of release.
There's a lot that I love about this film, and I think the casting and designs are top notch, but it's a story that really doesn't work for a single film.
Ωραιος.
That game is actually a great adaptation of the book. I skipped the first book on my reread and played that instead.
Even the incest?
Μάλιστα!
This pic is inspired on the 1992 original Dune game, a sort of graphic adventure with an strategic part. I burned hours on my Sega CD with that game. I love it.
Saw it in the theater when I was a kid. I liked it but I liked the toys better. At that point I remember being sick of Star Wars.
If you didn't like based Hawat you're obviously in the wrong place
These toys are cool as fuck
I have to go. I wish the thread had been a bit more active. Dune threads are the comfiest threads.
