Raging Bull vs Taxi Driver

I think we can all say that Robert De Niro is one of the greatest actors we have ever seen with many great performances and film. These two are often said to be his highlight features - which one do you prefer? Which one gave a better performance?

Havent seen Raging Bull yet but Taxi Driver was so good. Although I am surprised that many people do not think the ending sequence was a dream but instead reality

Raging Bull is a better movie and has a better performance. They are both incredible, though.

Taxi Driver is the superior film, but Raging Bull has the superior performance.

raging bull is boring

I like Taxi Driver better as a movie, but Raging Bull has better performance from DeNiro.
Raging Bull is a little too meandering for my taste, meanwhile every scene is important in Taxi Driver.

raging bull is a snorefest and completely forgettable. this is the cold brutal truth.

raging bull is my favorite movie of his but taxi driver has the greater historical impact

>called The Raging Bull
>terrified of being cucked

Marty is a master of irony.

IS THIS MOVIE ONLY IN BLACK AND WHITE?
WHY WOULD YOU WATCH THIS SHIT

The best period for film was from 1940-1980. So a large amount of real film (not those little quick Marvel and blockbuster flicks) happens to be in black and white.

Friendly reminder that Robert De Nero made some terrible movies too.

Actually Taxi driver and Cape Fear for me desu

Yeah, when he was fucking old and needed a paycheck. Even then, he still comes out with a strong performance in his old age like in Silver Linings Playbook.

>Although I am surprised that many people do not think the ending sequence was a dream
Because many people are not morons. There is literally nothing that indicates that he's dreaming.

This whole "ending sequence is a dream" is so typical of first year film students trying to give more meaning to a movie than there is.

You could literally apply that nonsense to any movie:
>Luke Skywalker actually got killed by Vader in the DS Trench
>The whole explosion and award ceremony was just a dream
>the two following movies are just an extensions of that dream
LMAO

I think the ending sequence, the hiccup in the film before it returns to the images from the start of the film refer to the cyclical nature of mental health suffering that derives from Bickle's loneliness (self-inflicted as seen by his rejection of what's her name before this)

when i was a kid deniro was synonymous with being one of the great actors. Then he did a bunch of shitty films when he got old

He sort of pulled a simpsons but with acting

Still has a better collection of classic movies than that Meryl girl.

The irony is part of the idea.

making a black and white film was a really indie/art movie thing to do back then as a stylistic choice.
Sort of how you got all these milllinal fucks using VHS quality as an aesthetic

>De Niro
>one of the greatest actors we have ever seen
Hes just a leftist basedcück coalburner who happened to get some great badass roles.

raging bull is unironically overrated pointless shit that scorsese made as a cash grab
taxi driver is a masterpiece

Just checking to see if you're not shitting on Stardust

>He prefers watching the worst Twilight Zone episodes because they're in color
>Not watching Kino black & white Twilight Zone

Black and white looks so much better than color sometimes. The scenery isn't as vibrant, but people look way better, sharper.

I think Scorsese used black and white for Raging Bull because it is a noir story. He was trying to evoke the idea of the old films noir which were almost always in black and white.

Taxi Driver.

Mean Streets is better than Raging Bull.

this is objectively his best role

Agreed

how can a dead man dream?

Now that Trump turned out a kike retard, can we actually like allt hose actors again?
