Why is the fourth doctor the most popular one?
Why is the fourth doctor the most popular one?
Because the person irl and the part were the same thing
>not posting best Baker
peak Daleks
Longest running, plus first three series were almost all high quality stories.
On what planet is Colin better than Tom?
Because he was the best?
remember him in Vault of Horror, that was a good one
I haven't actually watched any of his episodes, but the idea of a really menacing, brutal doctor sounds interesting as fuck
boomers grew up with him
charisma, "it" factor, whatever you want to call it, plus a pleasantly goofy and charming face
Probably because he was in the single best scene in Doctor Who history
Kino style
All of them.
He starts as kind of goofy but just gets darker and darker until around the end of his run his enemies are dying all the time from situations he created and he gives zero fucks.
it's the scarf and hat
His characterisation is way off any kind of consistency. Causes the deaths of many innocent bystanders with no reaction in Vengeance on Varos then has a go at the Rani and the Master for doing exactly that in Mark of the Rani, the next story
It's consistent if he's a sociopath.
>He was around the longest so there a lot of actual Boomers who only care about him
>He was eccentric, he had this alien quality which made him unique
>He had a period of great stories, usually gothic horror themed
>He also had an era where the show was comedic, easy to enjoy and light-hearted, It was easy for normies to enjoy
>He also had a rebellious streak. I think people related to him sticking it to 'the man'. The previous 3 did as well but 4th took it to a new level.
He deserves the love but I wish others weren't forgotten.
when i was into DW I listened to him through big finish audios. He's great, he's loud and brash but you get the impression he's really heroic and compassionate underneath. even in the show he had his moments.
The most amazing thing about Tom was that despite the weather and the hot studio lights you almost never see him sweat in all that clothing.
Cuz 100+ episodes
DO I HAVE THE RIGHT?
this thread is dying I want more classic who discussion.
Baker was the best along with pic, as far as classic Doctors go.
Why is /who/ banned? Honestly? And why was the wiki deleted?
Pertwee was a hack.
Based mods were sick of space soi.
Pertwee was great. I wasn't around but apparently at the time he was considered the most iconic doctor until T. Baker arrived.
I was tempted to make a '1974 I am forgotten' meme.
Only watched like one season of dr.who.
But as an artist i have to say that dr.who kind of stands out aesthetically. Visually. Def has an original fashion style
Because he was the most syndicated one and had the longest run. Not sure about anywhere else in the world but for the longest time in the US through the 70s and 80s, Baker's episodes were the only ones running, and only on PBS at that. So for a lot of people, he was the sole Doctor.
if Troughton's stories where repeated more (and also intact) I wonder if would be considered just as if not more Iconic than Tom Baker.
why do we get a shower scene for Pertwee but not Whittaker?
I gave up on the show a few years ago. I do hear that Whittaker's Doctor is a bit on the bland side but it's also Chibnalls approach to have drama come from the companions rather than the Doctor herself. Which does seem like a good idea.
I might give the show another try but I also hear the stories are pretty boring overall.
He was the Tennant of his time but less emo because he had not genocided his entire race (though he becomes a tad moral concerned when he almost genocides the Daleks and ends up "creating" them). He was "young", fun, silly, quircky. Basically he is the mold both Tennant and Smith inspired their Doctors on.
Tennant seems more like the 5th doctor to me, humanish and vulnerable. I do see the influence of 4 though.
Well... Tennant and the 5th do have a LOT in common. I do hope "Jenny" doesn´t call him daddy though.
I think Moffat joked that Jenny crashed into an asteroid 5 minutes after the Doctor's daughter. I did find that funny.
How?
so it is safe to assume she's the most iconic companion because she's connected with the 4th.
This is Yea Forums. I don't have to make any arguments.
She wasn't even one of the cutest.
I actually like her but her place as the THE companion is over generous. I think it might also be the fact that she's the perfect generic companion. I don't mean generic in a bad way though. She's a young attractive woman from the modern era, she's positive and strong and yet still screams every now and again.
I wonder if she was alive during the 50th if she would've made an appearance.
Series 11 is the worst load of shit I have ever seen in my life.
Who here team Leela?
I keep hearing it's bad
companion who carries a knife, you couldn't do that today.
>I keep hearing it's bad
It's not just bad, there are zero redeeming qualities. Everything is a complete abomination.
>you couldn't do that today.
Watching Series 11, you can't have a companion with a dissenting opinion, let alone one that carries weapons, argues with the Doctor, and kills as her first instinct.
He was around the longest, had some of the best writing, aired the most in America, never broke character in public, and is generally a likeable guy to the fans.
Jelly babies.
Yeah, the companions are as bland as whitaker.
Chibnall is hack. Sad that they picked the worst writer of nuwho to run the show, but it's to be expected when the left controls entertainment.
>not team Romana 1
Try me
Long run. Generally good stories. (Especially the first 3 years) And generally fun personality.
My favorite fan theory is that the 6th Doctor was om the path to full on evil until the head wound cut his life short.
I do hope we get the Valeyard eventually one day. A fun on evil Doctor could be fun.
yep
Good stories and some of the best companions.
Because not enough people have watched the Seventh.
city of death is the most viewed Doctor who story. it did help that there were only 3 channels at the time and that a strike shut down the other two. so there was literally nothing else to watch.
Good actor with good stories.
Basically, Capaldi if he hsd gotten a better writing room.
because scarves are /fa/
Literally nothing depressed me more than watching Capaldi's enthusiasm for the series die over the course of his run.
2 series with bloody Clara.
because just look at him, he looks like it would be fun to go on an adventure with him
Baker was a genuinely good actor and I think a ton of boomers in the US started watching the pbs airings during that time.
he does
more like dr what the fuck this shit
