Upcoming season announced and its supposed to be the NuPope (it's going to 100% either be Lenny reformed or he died and a new pope is in and it's all abortion and immigration good, borders bad). Lenny was meant to be in the wrong when he was running the church with conservative catholic values (((as he fucking should))). It's a treat to everyone even slightly interested in the Catholic faith. No matter if it's the personal, political or spiritual aspect. I'm not religious but having grown up catholic I liked the show a lot.

The Young Pope was 10/10 elder god-tier, with some extremely emotional moments: the only thing I didn't like is I'm not sure what stance the series took.

I think he did it to strengthen the faith of the followers, basically stripping it down so only the core values remained.

Are the Italian scenes supposed to have subtitles? I've tried to watch this online multiple times, but always stop because I feel like I'm missing something when they start speaking Italian. Or is that intentional?

Fuck Catholic School imo. I was also in Catholic grade school. They do a really bad job conveying the actual weight and awe of Christ, the strictness of Vatican laws (which I kinda like, ie confess every week, can't eat communion if you have mortal sins you haven't confessed, Latin mass, attending Adoration), and the works of the saints. They just water it all down to "Jonah was eaten by the whale but its okay cause Jesus loved him :)" and Rock band mass

Was agnostic for a while but I really recommend coming back to the faith. I got into it from traditional music first, then trad twitter (some are good, some are shit), some based priests on Youtube that actually talk ABOUT the faith in homily's, and just reading the new testament again on my own and the works of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Reading The Acts of the Apostles again as an adult is incredible.

Things are happening, but it's not always clear whether various events are directly leading toward anything meaningful. That said, the events themselves are comfy and enjoyable to watch. As you watch the show, you keep waiting for traditional cliches to slip in, or for SJW politics to come to the forefront, but they never do. I suspect (((they))) will correct this oversight in season 2.
