nolan makes good movies and his vision for batman was something where heaths joker fit perfectly. Everyone liked it outside of a few contrarian autists. Letos joker had to somehow be "EVEN MORE" crazy and real and serious than heath and it was bound to fail on many levels. Joacquins version looks like an actual "arthouse" take on the joker but without the baggage of the actual infantile comic books, it might as well not be tied to the source material at all but that goes both ways, who gives a shit if it is when comic books are literally the one medium where you have an endless continuum of reboots, universes, multiverses and one off stories by X and X writer/ artist duo

I dont even know where the meme that Leto can act at all comes from, its very blatantly obvious by now that he knows how to play one "character" and thats an oogly eyed weird intonation version of himself with da epic lines, his only decent perfomance that I know of is in fight club and tonally that movie is extremely unhinged and unnatural in the first place. Then again obviously a vast majority of the blame lies on the director for choosing him and making him play joker that way in the first place
