its 2019, circuses aren't a thing anyone. its not like the 50's where everyone in town would go to it out of curiosity, and even back then clowns were known as drunkards and sexual deviants. what does a clown produce for society? they don't make food, or fund the war machine, or build roads, or do anything of use. the greatest contribution circuses had on society was those boxes they put premature babies in and still that was just one guy's invention, it probably would of ended up in a hospital without the help of circuses albeit a bit longer.
