The story is a bit more than that. Vic Mignogna, the voice actor for Broly from DBZ (and other characters) refused to sign a fan's art at a convention because it featured two male character kissing, and Vic is a conservative Christian. The story got out, and some people came out of the woodworks to accuse Vic of touch them inappropriately at conventions. This isn't the first time people have hated on Vic, he used to get shit for holding Christian lectures at conventions, but this is when the dam really burst. Marzgurl took it on herself to start a hashtag to "kick Vic" and it worked, with Funimation firing Vic and him being removed from conventions. Vic wrote an apology while asserting he'd meant no wrong, but nobody ever wants apologies. They always want blood. The stories were little more than shitty rumors, with such bullshit as Marzgurl posting a video of Vic hugging a fan only to have the fan reply that she consented, she has zero regrets and in fact cherishes the memory, and telling Marzgurl to take down her video (she didn't). You also had fellow voice actors come out against him, with Samantha Inoue-Harte saying after she spoke out against him, fans of Vic's had her home swatted, and she posted photos of her door kicked in. Thing is, those photos came from a few years ago, and the police outright denied her being swatted.
Anyways, so Vic gets fired, and Marzgurl and her KickViccers think they've won, but what winds up happening is there's this huge backlash in the anime community against them. #istandwithvic starts trending. Vic realizes he has support, and says he'll look into his legal options. A GoFundMe is opened on his behalf for his legal fees, and is immediately a runaway success. He's retained a lawyer, and they're going after various different people who defamed him. If Marzgurl gets sued, she's fucked. This is a woman who had to crowdfund an oil change.
