Haters will say: >There were some cringe scenes >(((ISO's))) >YEEEEEAAAAHHHH? >plot holes >the MOUSE + pg13 rating doesn't make the film very serious
But the soundtrack was literally perfect, and the father/son concept was played out pretty nicely. Also Olivia Wilde was delicious. Absolutely worth a re-watch, or at least check out this scene which showcases most of that: youtube.com/watch?v=2EQbMrzu8ZU
The visuals and soundtrack is absolutely insane. The acting meh, plot is pretty linear
I still watch it all the time
Isaiah Wright
Decided to read part of the script for fun but then really got the urge to watch it. Apparently part 3 might still happen, but we'd have to wait on the timescale of BR2049. Hope daft punk aren't senile yet by that time
It's a catch 22. Not being recognized by the mouse means that they can't run it into the ground like they have done with capeshit.
Nathaniel Wright
based and tronpilled
Isaac Flores
After the tomorrowland flop, its like they went and killed any opportunity for something original and creative to happen. Somehow it translated into bending over for whiteknights and sjw's
I feel like it would have been safe for at least another movie if they had it come out at by 2014. Now it just would be too expensive to make. They'd ship most of the vfx to India inbetween MCU movies, which would make it look cheap, have some shitty meme lead actor and it wouldn't gross $1billion so they'd call it a failure.
Jacob Peterson
>look at me im mad someone is having fun Neck yourself
>tfw you will never see a proper 4K HDR transfer version because the mouse doesn’t give a shit and the movie was shot digitally in 1080p. One of the movies that would have benefited immensely from HDR.
Also you can thank Tomorrowland underperforming for Disney scrapping Tron 3. Actors and crew were ready to go when they cancelled it.
I have very fond memories attached to this movie. Me and my dad were obsessed with this when it came out, and we spent our weekends hunting for the toys all over town. That was a good time.
based and redpilled honk meme fellow 'pede! mind if i share that on the face book? us boomer memers gotta stick together!
Zachary Flores
that was 6 years ago
Anthony Cook
I really liked the de-aging of Bridges, I found it fascinating.
Aiden Diaz
And they've been coasting of Random Access Memories since. Except for a brief stint where they teamed up with a canadian nog for a few songs
Mason Martinez
>main character a zero-charisma npc >Cilian wasted on "next time baby" side-character >odd Rinzler subplot that felt like an afterthought >underused setting
It just lacked soul. Felt like everything in it was designed by committee and it simply didn't have vision.
Nathaniel Butler
The de-aging works well because Clu is a program, so looking uncanny valley is perfect for the character.
Parker Garcia
This. I still watch it but in a "what could've been" way. Cillian makes sense because IIRC he was being set up as the sequel's villain.
Jeremiah Wood
God damn man I was so obsessed too, still have some of the mini light cycles laying around. I hot glued the quora figure when I was 13
Nathan Torres
Quorra is a cutie in any form, even animated as she was in for one episode of Tron:UPRISING which of course was awesome and of course Disney fucking cancelled.
Love the film, and while it’s story is simply alright, you can’t really have a good story in the Tron universe in 2 hours. The atmosphere, setting, and soundtrack, and characters were all fantastic. If you want a gripping story, watch Tron: Uprising, which Disney did its absolute best to kill.
Tron is an underappreciated franchise that Disney doesn't give a shit about. Such a shame. I like other anons here was really into it when it came out. Despite the flaws it's a good movie.
It's a bittersweet thing that we will never have a part 3. It's terrible that we won't get a definitive closeure, but also Disney won't ruin it,like they did with everything else they put their claws on
Lincoln Roberts
Pretty sure they're done touring. I imagine retirement isn't far off for them
What plot holes? I usually don't get autistic about this sort of stuff but nothing really jumped out at me when I watched it recently.
Wyatt Wright
The soundtrack was literally 10% Daft Punk and 90% other artists perfecting it so it wasn't the same three notes played for 5 minutes. Stop defending it.
Blake Clark
Daft punk did the whole soundtrack
Brody Ramirez
>10% Daft Punk and 90% other artists perfecting it Do you have any source on this?
True and Flynn was literally "The Creator"; they shoudlve put more emphasis on the part where all the programs bowed down to him after the club fight
Sam being somehow really good at disc combat for no particular reason, the whole pager thing, jeff bridges hiding in literally plain sight for apparently 20 years. But all minor stuff in the long run, film was great.
Honestly I wish that Disney never acquired the rights to Star Wars so that they would be forced to be more creative and take risks with original franchises that they already owned. Also Tron Uprising was kino it is superior to all the Star Wars cartoons that Disney has produced
Pharrel’s song was shit, but that doesn’t give you the right to diss the whole album. Come back after you’ve listened to contact after smoking some good weed.
Jack Cruz
I usually don't care much for remixes but find the Tron Legacy: Reconfigured album is way better than the OST. Both versions of End of the Line, Derezzed & Rinzler in particular.
>3 notes played for 5 minutes That only really applies to Homework (Their first album) and Human After All (2 week project) and even then, the Alive 2007 version of those songs really diversified their sounds.
Discovery and RAM have some of the best musical diversity. I mean fuck, just listen to Touch youtube.com/watch?v=0Gkhol2Q1og
>Somehow it translated into bending over for whiteknights and sjw's I hate the bew Star Wars too but seriously user stop being a seething incel and get help. Go to therapy and talk to a professional so that you deal with your sexual frustration and mommy issues then learn to stop hating women.
Even then Get Lucky was a pretty chill groove. Loose yourself to dance with Pharell's falsetto was bad but the vocoder work in that song is godlike. You know what, I also didn't mind their work with the weekend either, even if my opinion on the weekend is low as fuck.
As for this topic, how does viruses work in the Tron universe? What do they manifest as?
>every good track ruined by adding unnecessary pretentious bullshit that ruins relistening value I dont want to hear that old fuck ramble before giorgio for the 1000th time
Like what other retarded garbage are you talking about? The song with panda bear and the two pharrel songs are bad (Those two not because of the music itself but because of pharrel himself). Like most of the album itself is a whole tribute to the early 70's to mid 80's of funk and the rise of synth all blended together with Daft Punk's twist, which usually came out nicely. It's not discovery levels of good, I will give you that, but to dismiss it as entirely bad because of "pretentiousness" is a disservice to it. To me the story of Giorgio and his own use of the synthesizer elevates the song even further to show how his own works influenced Daft Punk and their sound by showing his own influences to create his music.
Jack Myers
I think Star Wars was the final nail in the coffin
Once they had that sci-fi franchise they didn't need Tron
Aaron Cooper
I dont listen to full albums
But individually the tracks that are salvageable usually have additional shit that ruins the pace of the song, which im sure you would disagree with me on that point
>giorgio and his own use of the synthesizer You act like the overly long monologue is music. It can easily be a transition track and accomplishthe same thing.
>pretentiousness Adding additional shit to the songs is either because theyre pretentious and want to make it more "meaningful", or they became hacks. I feel i was being generous
Bentley Johnson
The first 10 minutes are fantastic
Isaiah Harris
>I don't listen to full albums Which is probably where our disagreement lies, I don't like singles, I like well constructed albums with songs that flow into each other and have a general "story" they convey with the music.
Alexander Green
Then why bother evaluating tracks
Listen to giorgio a hundred times and try not to kill yourself. Alk their early stuff is still good after 10000 times
Noah Diaz
>implying I haven't listened to Giorgio 1000 times because of me listening to RAM 1000 times It fits in well. There are tracks in Discovery as well that only work because they are part of Discovery like Verdis Quo and Too Long.
Aaron Moore
>>I dont want to hear that old fuck ramble
You mean Giorgio? Literally the man who inspired modern electronic music?
Luke Allen
I know who giorgio is you fucking wank
Matthew Howard
The way it handled Kevin Flynn was superb, the ideal as far as recent cinema is concerned. The character has grown tremendously to reflect the long passage of time since he was last seen. Many dark days have passed which the movie makes a point of emphasizing. He has been enlightened by his journey, but he has one final lesson to learn before passing the torch. The delivery is so simple and satisfying. You would think after seeing this that it's an easy thing to pull off, then compare it to the awful character assassination that was Luke Skywalker.
Caleb Hall
Its easy until money is at stake and the directors have knifes to their necks, being forced to ruin their own franchises
Dominic King
First act was brilliant. Second act had some highlights, third act falls flat sadly.
Still a brilliant movie and I have watched it far too many times.
>tfw you realize absolute mad men Daft Punk mastered the music in 5.1 surround You haven't watched the movie until you have watched it at home with a proper sound system.
James White
YEEEEEAAAAHHHH?
Hudson King
This movie is a modern classic and there isn't a single faggot on this earth who can convince me otherwise
Sebastian Harris
Stop being this insecure about your taste, user. Holy shit.
Jason Watson
Fuck off. Daft Punk are the Mozart of today.
Carson Ramirez
>Golden Apple of Eris >Golden >Eris Fucking brainlets and litlets need to leave
Jaxson Reyes
Shut it faggot, I made a pretty good thread right here, in which its perfectly clear my stance on this movie
Stop posting this she was literally 8 to 10 years to old for this part
Nolan Smith
Does this movie have the best de-aging CGI?
Sebastian Evans
Again, stop being this insecure. Also, learn how to English.
Adrian Richardson
No, far from it compared to recent movies. It was the first generation of the technique used today. But it worked because Clu was supposed to be digital and uncanny.
Adam Gonzalez
>things brainlets ask
Ryder Collins
I personally haven't seen many movies with good de-aging CGI (Rogue One was shit for it), so I'll take your words for it.
Juan Watson
>You're insecure literally because I say you're insecure That's enough of that, shhh
William Collins
what happened to that character? If they make another movie I would like to see him in it
Jordan Brooks
It's been used a lot in recent Marvel movies for admittedly, amazing results. Check this out: youtube.com/watch?v=AQA5AVw2zUU Though it looks better in proper quality than a shitty youtube encode.
Bentley Collins
They got completely blown up along with the rest of the end of line club, although anything goes since the whole world was a simulation
The whole movie was kino. Y’all should check it out.
Jaxson Cook
>That perfect line from her hair to her jaw
It's the ideal haircut for her.
Jayden Gomez
The ideal haircut in general, some might say
Connor Fisher
Don't think of it as a movie. Think of it as a music video to Daft Punk.
Dylan Williams
J.U.S.T.I.C.E. should do the soundtrack for part 3
Grayson Clark
Yeaaaaah? Is kino, not cringe
Brayden Thompson
A final bump
Carter Jones
Basically a remake of the first movie not that I mind since it fits the themes well. Sadly we won't see anymore and it was one of their best original movies right up there with John carter from Mars (fucking fight me) Hell even tomorrow land had its moments but mcu is just too profitable. I really hope it collapses like sjwars did but I doubt it. I've been wanting to see some weird comic kino for a long time since the first rebound in the 80-90s That said I think mcu is playing it waaay too safe too much pg13 too much general audience pandering and formula
Thomas Long
>Sam being somehow really good at disc combat for no particular reason, but he wasn't, they specifically show you this >the whole pager thing how is that a plot hole in any way >jeff bridges hiding in literally plain sight for apparently 20 years. No one else knew about the laser.
Angel Reyes
>The whole movie was kino It was overrated trash. But it figures you would like it.
Jayden Watson
cute
John Brown
and it flopped
Landon King
Disney knows it's audience of illiterate Chinese slave labor and manchildren. (They made the mistake of thinking chinks liked Star Wars)
