Guys, why does money have worth if it's not backed by anything?
Is today's money only worth something because people think it has worth?
>I HATE SANDNIGGERS
Did George go too far in that scene?
Thats actually a great question because while it was an empire it was obviously susceptible to protests and rebellion. I imagine a lot of care was put into the tax policy on a system by system basis to maintain enough of a chokehold to retain power but not so restrictive to drive people to 100% uprising.
I think a great question to ask along side this is where did the money come from to fund the Death Star?
Execute tax bracket 66

Are you new to money?
If you want to do business in this realm, you have to pretend that this piece of paper has value. Is it really so hard?
Yes
It's backed by something or else Argentina's money would be worth something.

In the Clone Wars cartoon he forcefully took over the banks towards the end of the war, so it’s safe to assume that he enforced an aggressive tax policy on galactic corporations and supported the nationalization of several industries to consolidate his control over the galaxy’s resources (thus strengthening the Republic’s control and creating a resource base and vice for the eventual turn-over to the Empire). Early Clone Wars, after Valorum kicked the bucket, he probably enforced moderate taxation on every system and bureceatic oversight and quotas to fuel a wartime economy. He probably didn’t trust-bust or impose further taxation on corporations such as the Trade Federation after the invasion of Naboo, since Gunray was aquited an never found guilty of association with the CIS (and because why drain your puppet of its power), but probably continued taxes imposed by the senate under Valorium, such as those on Free Trade zones, in order to avoid suspicion of corruption
20% of whatever you produce. Unironically the empire was stable this way because he had a army of clones and droids for free labor.
everyone else who was unemployed by this got a job with the empire, or was a smuggler/rebel, or farmer
the reason the empire came back was because why do this any other way?

In a deleted scene from A New Hope Biggs tells Luke The Empire is nationalising commerce.
You didn't see the part where Palpatine hired black hat hackers to empty the bank accounts of the Intergalactic Banking Clans into his own personal accounts, disguised as a shell company?

All money is "worthless" but modern fractional reserve currencies are hyperinflationary monopoly money thanks to retard boomers.
