spider-man 1 feels a little dated, but it's still a solid comic book film. spider-man 2 looks and feels a lot more polished, and I noticed that even when I was a kid. it's strange to think that they were made only two years apart. 1 genuinely feels like a 90's movie and 2 could have been put out just a few years ago.

I rewatched 3 with some friends recently. holy fucking shit it's even more stupid than I remembered. It's hilarious, but horrible.

The only one I've seen recently is Spider Man 1 and in my opinion it only holds up because of Willem Dafoe, I think he's the one that carries the movie and the best part of the movie, Tobey Maguire is fucking boring, he's quiet all the time, he does nothing but cry and look like he's stoned out of his mind. Which is the contrary to how Peter Parker is in the comics, and since I've been reading Spidey comics for quite a while now I can notice how jarring it is to have a boring Peter Parker. Aside from that I really enjoy the way it's structured but I'd enjoy it a lot more if Peter Parker wasn't boring

i rewatched 2 yesterday and as someone who has hated all capeshit post iron man 1 it really is still very enjoyable. i never read comic books much but it still feels like a comic book movie, the new capeshit era just feels like they are trying really hard to make action movies that feature comic book heroes, so the quippy dialogue just feels horrible. these movies are campy enough that you can enjoy the dialogue without the action suffering

one thing i like about these movies is that the concept of a universe isn't even hinted at. there are no other characters popping in to say hello, no ominous scenes of super arch villains enslaving space niggers somewhere - it's just fucking spiderman and whatever enemy he's fighting in that movie. that's it. they have simple plots with characters you actually care about, rather than 19 super cool space heroes who don't ever say anything interesting EVER who you only watch to see fight scenes with too many special effects.

I watched all of them back to back in a day a few weeks ago and for the most part yes. 1 is the most dated, it has some moments of bad CGI and the action is a little underwhelming. The plot however is solid and all the performances are great. 2 is a really incredible movie, like seriously a contender for greatest superhero movie. The plot with all the character arcs is not only great by itself but serves as a perfect continuation from the first movie. The action is also a huge step up from the first movie. The train scene had to be some of the best action in a superhero movie. 3 unfortunately drops the ball when it comes to plot. It’s simply rushed. However there are some parts that work like black Spider-Man, Harry’s arc, and Peter forgiving the Sandman. The CGI is also the best out of the three. Not bad by any means, just a drop in quality from the other two.

This is one of the best fight scenes ever in capeshit and it came out of 3. Great momentum and speed, the action goes up and then down, you really feel like you're there with them.
