no he was retarded to trust palpatine about saving padme

Yes. So is his grandson. Curse of being a Skywalker.

And a white male.

Yes, he was quite literally intended to be a textbook example of one.

Palpatine fostered Anakin’s trust over several years and continuously undermined his trust in the Jedi. Thinking that he knew what he did, trusting Palps over the Jedi is a logical conclusion.

I think he was intended as one but Lucas couldn't pull it off. To quote Mr Plinkett, he was, essentially, tricked into becoming evil. Concentrating on Ep 3: It's one hell of a jarring character 'arc' to be risking your neck to rescue a friend and a mentor at the opening scene, and then what appears to be a week later, slaughtering a room full of children with a lightsaber because a man who talks like Satan told you to.

If anything, Nute Gunray is the more tragic figure. Reached the very top of his career and achieved the highest and most respected status that a Neimoidian could hope to achieve. Ran a Trade Federation with such efficiency that they were able to build a private army rivalling anything the Republic had to offer. Betrayed by the one human he trusted and killed by an emotionless machine. His last words? "But ... Lord Sidious promised us peace!"

not really, he never had a actual father figure obi wan was always kinda a dick to him. so sheev was a mentor to him his entire life, it makes sense he would believe in him

The classical idea of the tragic hero is that his misfortune is brought on by his own faults.

Tragic? His only problem was that the other Jedi didn't like the prestige that he had in life. They didn't like the notoriety. They DETESTED the fact that he's got more Midichlorians than most of them had friends! He had a volcano house, on the volcano side of town! He had life pretty much the way he wanted it...

In the movies : yes.
But when you read the comics and realize how much the Jedis are incompetent asshole, you kinda understand annakin a little bit more

Yes, he started out as a child with a heart of gold, but the Jedi bullied him into being a school shooter

yes, because he would have been better off as a slave in tattoine. that jew bug was more of a father figure to him than any other character.

Not in the traditional sense. No matter what, Anakin is either ending or starting in adversity, but the difference is whether this is internal or external. In the PT he starts with external adversity on Tatooine and ends with internal conflict on Mustafar. In the OT he still has this internal conflict until the series ends with him facing death but finding inner peace like he once had on Tatooine. So if you look over the course of the entire series he really just starts and ends in the same place.

Yes. Anymore questions?

Trusting an obviously evil fuck like Sheev is a bad move famalam

It didn't have to be that way. He just wanted to tinker with robots and pod racers...

bump for prequel posting

youtube.com/watch?v=YycCR846qHs did you make this video?

He didn’t start acting evil until Episode III after he had already faustered trust with Anakin. As someone who watched out of order even I was surprised, but I thought he was working for Sidous because I wasn’t paying attention to episode II.

more like Cute Gunray. look at that face!

honestly I would probably have done the same thing. even knowing Sheev is Sidious, he seems like such a sweet old man.

Star Wars always seemed like a classic Greek tragedy. Very traditional in a futuristic setting. Then the sequels came and now it’s just a joke.

Vader looks like a Genius-tier ruler in ESB, but in every other film he's just some sort of whiner.
