Probably not, the tone's a lot closer to the second half of Split in the opening and ending act while the middle act is more like the buildup of Unbreakable (and has its own share of issues).

The movie was kino, because it really opened up my imagination for other adaptations to the story.

Honestly my biggest complaint isn’t with the plot or trademark stilted shyamalan dialogue but that he couldn’t afford to hire Howard for the music again, and the new composer didn’t make good enough use of the motifs from Unbreakable. Would have been full fledged kino if he did.

This. The mental facility was especially bad because they spend the entire time trying to convince them they are special which is the entirely opposite point of Unbreakable. This could work, but only with characters we don't know. Because we, the audience, already know that both David, Kevin, and Elijah are special.

Almost all of Shyamalan's scenes are good individually because his technical grasp (cinematography, etc) is really solid. He just can't write dialogue or plot for nuts. Kind of like Snyder.
