Whqt is a reqiuem? And why is it for a dream?
My name is Giorino Govana and i have a dream
Well it's kind of hard to feel bad for junkies and whores.
Emotions are heightened when it comes to kids and the elderly. She just wanted to lose some weight..
ASS
they had to bury their dreams. i lack the proper english to explain what exactly a requiem is, but that's what the title means.
it's 10/10 kino and i don't want to watch it ever again. the movie about the Joy Division guy is more depressing tho
We would gather as a group of friends in high school and watch this every now and then and laugh our asses off. Dynamite dance, ass2ass, shit is hilarious.
this completely broke the tension in the scene for me desu
Drugs are bad kids.
Propaganda
I felt most bad for the old lady. The others were stupid heroin addicts. She just thought her pills were helping her and had no idea of the consequences.
>willingly take drugs
>wow why is my life shit
literally zero sympathy for burnouts, no idea why society cares about them at all
Your eyes pin on heroin, they don't dilate.
The book is great. The movie is also really great, some very experimental techniques were used here that caught on. And all wih a very low budget. Great use of cgi too.
Yes, but it's still a very well done movie. Not many more depressing movies out there. It's a 2h nightmare.
burnout druggies will say its unrealistic
A requiem is sort of like a swan song, or a final curtain call. It's a movie about people's dreams being slowly ruined
It has a cool soundtrack during the parts where theres record skips and not overblown orchestral shit going on.
this movie really opened my eyes, I'm never doing heroin again
I got you user, but you have no idea how often i spoke out those words aloud
That doctor should have been arrested for malpractice.
>most depressing movie of all time
see this >
I don't know much about medicine, but I'm pretty positive a doctor is required by law to treat a patient even if they are a criminal. Also I know that the electroshock therapy at the end was portrayed much darker than it actually is
The old lady wasn't a criminal. She was clearly strung out on the pills and the doctor kept giving her more. Of course, he didn't even look at her the last time she saw him, so he's just a terrible doctor.
serbian film is much worse
it fucked me up
the electoshocks were an anachronism to serve the overall dramatics of the movie, last time any psychiatrists used those was in the late 60s. amphetamines, basically speed, was given out by doctors in the US until the late 90s tho
Ellen Burstyn was the best part of the movie
You should watch Dancer in the Dark. If you thought this is depressing you might actually kill yourself with that.
how jennifer connely looks nowadays is way terrifying than any of the scenes in the movie
I was talking about Harry
The point of the post was that I heard it was the most depressing movie ever made, but it wasn't I only really felt bad for the old lady, and her friends I guess since they didn't really know what they were doing either
The film gets a lot right about addiction itself but what it never gets praised enough for is perfectly emulating that sobering feeling you get Saturday morning watching 4am infomercials while coming down from the night before.
Just this cacophony of white noise and am radio sounding fuzz that makes your skin crawl.
When I saw it in the theater the projection booth fucked up and replayed the entire movie from the beginning after Leto's character takes the taxi home from visiting the mom.
I thought it was intentional.
The train ride, when Sara was all strung out saying she's gonna be on television. Felt bad for her
>no idea why society cares about them at all
Because when deathsquads aren't an option having druggies under control thought government bucks and is better than having druggies be on their own and do whatever it takes to find more drugs. Same with "people of color"
No, they do it again because it's effective for depression. It is completely painless though and done under anesthetics and never against the will of a patient.
Dude you are such a fucking pussy. It's a movie ffs, half of this board watched real life videos of Mexican cartells skinning people alive without 'being fucked up'.
A good reminder that as frustrated as you can be about your own life you shouldn't be a dick to your parents.
They have lost more than you. You are all they have left.
wowo you're such a man user
please tell me more about those "videos"
They are pretty brutal.
This shit fucking broke me. This was around the time I was more desensitized than ever from Yea Forums as well.
I once watched it three times in two weeks during a really bad depressive phase, then again a few more times over the next couple months. Weird to think that back then I was totally scared of drugs and now I do them pretty frequently. And like others have said, even if you don't agree with the film's perspective on drug use and how it handles the characters I think it's still an extremely admirable experience in terms of editing and sound design
Trainspotting was better when it came to talking about drugs.
how can I be excited about anything in life, like this guy?
Yeah last time I saw it I felt like shit, I couldn't believe how much the film moved me. But the first time I was young and didn't feel for it as much.
Requiem is a cheesy version of Aronofsky's much better film Pie
I think that's pretty new and wasn't a thing outside niche groups when the movie came out. The feminist movement hit electroshock therapy and a lot of mental practices pretty hard. Say what you will about the effectiveness I've heard some guys bitching about the stoppage in research for electroshock therapy. Maybe they just didn't have the tools at the time though.
newfag watch some liveleak or bestgore shit
You know the guy that wrote the original book was writing about his own experiences of extreme addiction and personal fall.
I like the orchestral score during the final scenes. It dramatic and over the top but so is the movie.
ASS TO ASS
I remember watching that randomly on Netflix years back, I just cared about the subject matter and didn't even know he also made requiem. But yeah it was very interesting, I wish it was still there so I could see it again. May have to torrent.
On the plus side she'll never worry about her son again cause that brain is gone.
but shooter mgavin said she would be on teevee
/our guy/
It is true it's very depressing. I'm sure there are more depressing films out there. I've only seen EfaD once, but once was enough. There's no joy in rewatching only more sadness.
The movie wasn't that depressing, the dark comedic moments lightened the mood
I just watched the civil war documentary on Netflix and I'm pretty fucking bummed out about that too. Very well done, everyone fighting for different things, but all fighting just the same. Lots of death and misery. NARC 2002 is very sad too. But hardly anyone has seen it
Stabbing Westwards Darkest Days album is very sad i listened to that a bunch in college. It's the only album of theirs I've heard cuz they used a song for a duke nukem video game and i thought it was cool. But the rest of the album just makes you want to die like one long unbroken siren call
Haha, I've still got that album. Love SW
someone post the ass to ass webm
robbed of an oscar, amazing performance
You should check out the Russian Revolution they have on there. It's very interesting.
Ironically; I didn't think Tyrone was that bad but Harry and Marion had what was coming to them. Marion just wanted to do drugs because muh parents
that movie is the only reason I didn't do cocaine and never will
YEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH
literally /ourguy/
FACT: //////////THIS IS NOT OPINION///////////
Overrated movie. The editing is corny and the situations escalate to such absurd levels they become comical. If you could still take this seriously after the double dildo scene your IQ is objectively below 70.
0/10 no ass.
