Has any show ever had a more spectacular rise and fall than The Walking Dead?
Has any show ever had a more spectacular rise and fall than The Walking Dead?
Every successful show in the history of television looks like that. There are a handful of exceptions. But most look exactly like the pic in the OP.
The Sopranos
Exception being GoT
Lost was much worse
I feel like everyone was all about true blood for like two years then collectively stopped caring?
>first and last episodes of each season has biggest ratings
How does that even work? Do people not watch all the rest of the episodes in the season?
>Every successful show in the history of television looks like that.
Not even remotely true
Its only the live viewership numbers. Obviously they're watching it elsewhere mid season
I nominate Dexter for runner up
TWD, along with the later seasons of GoT are the finest examples of the garbage TV shows of the 2010s, consumed and discussed by mindless pleb NPCs, who will tell you the Wire was boring, and problematic.
AMC is such a fucking disaster of a company. they literally have one horrible show propping them up at this point. they might as well go back to just playing old movies once this shit show ends
>the Wire is good
Was with you up to there
>Watch first episode when it's airing because of hype for the returning show
>Watch rest of the season on reruns or online because you do not care so much
>Watch last episode when it's airing because of hype for the ending season
It ended as soon as they fired Frank Durabont.
that was like 7 years ago.
Shit like Family Matters, Survivor, House, Heroes, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles went through similar swings from "must-watch TV" ratings juggernauts to their deathbeds in only a few years. It's actually not that rare at all, TV history is full of it. All things considered, The Walking Dead is actually hanging in there reasonably well. Network TV in general is on a huge decline right now, and all the aforementioned were when tons of people were actually still watching TV, so there was a whole lot more weight behind millions of opting to not watch a show anymore.
Walking dead ended when the original artist on the comics left
HBO will be in a worse spot after GoT ends. AMC have TWD to ring dry for many more years, but all HBO have to rival GoT's dominance is Westworld and that's now a complete mess of a series if the response to Season 2 on Yea Forums is any indication.
The simpsons
I don't want to give HEROES too much credit because those later seasons are absolute trash, but it did get fucked by the writers strike
I wonder how much of that is just people going
>Eh, I'll watch it on netflix
Survivor didn't die.
