The matrix is 20 years old today
say something nice about it
The matrix is 20 years old today
as a transexual I find that movie tells my story very well.
No
A fun flick, sequels were garbage and anyone who likes them is a retard
I didn't watch any matrix movie
It sure fucking was right about everything going to shit after the 90s.
Amazing movie, got me into cyberpunk sci-fi shit. I was 7 when it came out. I still watch it every couple years, even the sequels which are trash
pretty good for a movie made by two women
Pure kino.
its the SMELL
The first half is sublime but it kind of ditches the plot & atmosphere and descends into shallow popcorn action during the second half. Still a great film though.
The batteries shit is retarded
SNIFFFFFFFF
i love the matrix!
One of the greatest films ever made
Fucking zoomers
The aesthetic
A top 20 film imo
WOAH
is this movie really about tranny subculture?
Flawless trilogy those trannies really thought about everything the more you try to find flaws the more you find that everything makes perfect sense
reloaded has the best action scenes but the additional world building didn't do anything for me and revolutions is just kinda nonsense
Ralph was okay in it
Still one of my favorite trilogies of all time
no, why do people keep saying that?
No. First is about enlightenment, second and third are about entertainment.
I absolutely love the first Matrix film, the other two Matrix films are also good, but not as good as the first Matrix film.
Thread Theme
I forgot to add that the first Matrix film is in my top 5 films of all time.
Rob Dougan Talked about his score recently
>white savior
>Female & black sidekicks
How did they do it?
As you can see, we've had our eye on you for some time now, Mr. Sneed. It seems that you've been living two lives. In one life, you're Sneed, proprietor of a respectable feed and seed store. You have tomato seeds, tobacco seed, and you...have gummi bears. The other life is lived in Chuck's, where you go by the alias "Chuck" and are guilty of virtually every sex crime we have a law for. One of these lives has a future, and one of them does not.
Best of the trilogy.
Revolutions was trash
You a generation of geeks wear leather trenchcoats and use pop out cellphones
It's the 8th best film of the 90's
oh nice, i think ill fap to carrie today in tribute
well it made me physically cringe when little whenever i saw the belly button bug scene
still cant watch that shit desu
I won't ask you what are the other 7 you attention whore
Why Neo didn't shoot thousands of school to weaken the energy of the matrix? It was easy targets.
Is the Matrix the best crafted movie?
I mean think about it. The Action scenes are fantastic (Even as minor as Checking Neo's Kung Fu), the score works perfectly as having its own tune, and having multiple homages of previous musical works (2001, Pruit Igoe and Prophecies) WHILE having a soundtrack implimented what screams "Its the 90's but the best of it".
They're big guys
Why are you so angry user?
The lobby shootout was the coolest shit I ever saw as a kid
The freeway chase deserves credits because they went through the trouble to build a gigantic mile long set just for that scene, and everything in it came out smashingly.
The matrix resolutions website explains all the story from movies, games, mmo,”. I highly recommend
Agreed, right after they visit the Oracle it's over.
He should've had a bigger role. His type of contempt for the side they're fighting on is interesting and dare I say, relateable. Iirc, he got suckered in by Morpheus in a similar fashion as Neo, but turned out to be the wrong guy. And then proceeded to feel miserable in his role as ''some guy'', being in a place that he probably wasn't informed about very well to spend the rest of his future in.
I remember seeing this at a theater back in the day and being kind of blown away by the special effects. Not sure I really understood it at the time because I was like 11 years old. Ended up getting it on a bootleg VCD during the early years of eBay around 2000-2001 or so.
I recently watched all 3 movies since it has been so long since I had heard anything about them despite at least the first movie being such a pop-culture icon for the early 2000s, and I really don't know how it got this bad this quick. The first movie just stands up so well, the action scenes are great, the concept is interesting and there's really no short list of things I can say it did well.
They really just become prequel-tier after the first film, with long bloviating dialogue scenes of people babbling about "choice" or "fate" or other pseudo-intellectual garbage. I'll even go as far to say that Reloaded introduced some interesting ideas, I like the idea of Zion basically being another control system the machines control, I like the "The matrix is a cycle!" idea and I like the idea of there being rogue programs to have another side in the confict, but none of them are really handled very well or just make less sense the more you think about how they would work in the world of The Matrix. I also think the fight scenes just start to become samey and uninspired in Reloaded, even the big spectacle ones just become boring since it's just the same sort of thing continuously happening. Reloaded also has another problem where new characters are constantly appearing without being introduced yet we are expected to care about them, I doubt most people would even remember that the character "Link" exists without looking him up, but we are expected to care about him and his struggle with faith or whatever.
Reloaded also has this scene which I'm surprised nobody else has commented on:

Revolutions I think somehow has better action scenes, but at this point it has just become such a mess it's hard to even fathom what's going on in this movie. It's so bloated with so many "WAR" scenes that drag on for ages with humans in really dumb looking robot suits shooting at streams of robots, it's just retarded, especially when there are very boring scenes about some whiny general(?) wanting more ships to defend Zion, yet we don't actually see them do anything apart from one which detonates an EMP and he gets really buttmad over it. The humans really had no better way to use their EMPs to take out the hordes of robots and had to rely on shooting them? It's just so dumb. There's also some weird vestigal subplot about the Merovingian where he somehow kidnaps Neo (I have no idea how) and then offers to release him in exchange for the Oracle's eyes, but then just releases him anyway. Was this meant to be an actual plotline or what? A lot of Revolutions just feels half-baked, like the big fight with Agent Smith where at the end Smith assimilates Neo but then they all explode, with no clear reason and a thousand different explanations offered by a thousand different fans.
Faggots like you can't appreciate GOAT movie.
I finally saw it on the big screen last week. I was the only person in the theater (6pm showing instead of the 10pm one), and it was with the rumbly chairs which made it great. some of those scenes seemed brand new on a big screen.
Never seen it :^)
Outdated, embarrassing and stupid.
boomer here, I remember very well watching it in the theater
>by two women
By two mentally deranged men, you mean?
Best introduction to the BDSM aesthetic my teenage self could ever ask for.
>see this post
>wtf the Matrix was made by the Wachowski brothers.
>look them up today
oh my god...
The Matrix = OS
Agent Smith = virus
The One = bug
We know, Zoomy. We know.
Haven't we concluded already that smith was the one?
As a trilogy, it disappointed. But it gave us the Animatrix, which was memorable. I've probably only seen The Second Renaissance twice in my life, and I still remember images from it like I just watched it.
If it was directed by anyone who weren’t degenerates I’d probably think it’s ok.
Send lewds.
some pretty great fightscenes and the perfect vehicle for Keanu.
The first one was awesome and carrie was hot
My favorite movie of all time.
anything other movies like this that are worth watching? darker, sci-fi, cyberpunkish movies, with an acceptable amount of cheese
was thinking of watching this and maybe johnny mnemonic tomorrow when drinking
Did you like Sense8?
How much cheese can you accept?
The first one is kino. Second one is entertaining. I never watched the third because I heard it was really bad
Some blogger claimed it was actually about them being trannies
In reality, their obsession with certain things about identity and reality may relate to their transgenderism, but its a stretch to actually say it's about that in any real way.
more than that, fifth element was pretty enjoyable
I highly recommend Dark City if you like The Matrix (and haven't seen it already), it has a similar vibe as it and was released a year before The Matrix.
>kiefer
>hurt
sold
>having multiple homages of previous musical works (2001, Pruit Igoe and Prophecies)
what?
user have you already realized he was right?
The only thing trannies did right, EVER.
Also good 'tard zoomer AND drek-head boomer filter.
Also CONNELY!
I miss breakbeat EDM tunes during fight scenes.
Why are the wachoski bros such hacks?
>muh degeneracy
/pol/ incels are the most pathetic people on this planet.
Consider reading Neuromancer, if only just to see where a lot of the story elements originated.
>I know crime stats
I LIKE IT A LOT!
It's one of my favorite movies. I went to a 20th anniversary showing for it recently and the theater gave me free tickets and food for displaying my screen used props from it. It was great to finally see it on the big screen.
I've honest to god never watched The Matrix (inb4 zoomer I'm 27). Does it hold up?
I saw it in high school 13 years ago with my philosphy teacher wearing a trench coat.
It does.
The final conclusion of 90s' edge.
this
The interrogation by Agent Smith is still good, though.

Wanna know how I know you are gay? Reloaded is pure kino. I'm sorry the movie didn't turn Neo into a Superman character and save the day.
>Neo Flies through the city, destroying everything on his way
It wasn't Superman it was Man of Steel
Except in reality, people on the freeway would have stopped if ninjas were doing flips off trucks.
Did that fat ginger guy molest you?
I heard it was supposed to be processors, but producers figured audiences wouldn't understand that and wanted it dumbed down to batteries.
If you think the matrix sequels are bad, you are an absolute brainlet
One of the greatest of all time. Thank God Keanu Kino Reeves played Neo and not Will Smith
