the man was funny decent acting skills and charisma, you are probably the only person who didnt knew this, ask about brie larson, lena dunham or boyega, not fucking eddie murphy

Sorry man I was born in 97 so I missed out on Murphy's prime. I've been looking back at old interviews and films of his though and his talent is undeniable.
Owen Morris
Rick James felt bad about his couch so he pulled a few strings for Eddie
Isaac Wilson
watch "delirious" and "raw" his stand ups were GOLD, he insulted faggots and bitches in general, way funnier than pryor
Levi Russell
started at saturday night live which was huge at the time, had one of the most successful and culture defining stand up shows in history with RAW, even my parents were talking about that shocking black man and his outfit and brash language. Starred in beverly hills cop which was so big even the soundtrack hit billboard, and then he even had a hit song with party all the time. Eddie was huge in the 80s, but he had the talent to deserve it, unlike most stars and comics of today.

I was watching a Bio special on Murphy and apparently Cosby called him up to bitch at him about his dirty material. Eddie then told Pryor and Pryor asked if it was pulling crowds, Murphy said yea and Pryor said to tell Cosby to shut the fuck up. Funny how all three of those guys were big around the same time

Eddie Murphy seems to me the kind of guy who can do anything, knows he can do anything, and chooses to become a monk and live a contented life. I wish Chris Rock or somebody would drive up to his cabin and offer him a job nobody else quite has the skills for. Eddie would be like "sorry, but I'm retired. I left that life behind." Chris would say "Eddie I need you on this one, you're the only man we got!" Something like that.

>On May 2, 1997, Murphy was stopped by police after having been observed picking up a transgender prostitute. The prostitute, Shalimar Seiuli, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for prostitution. Murphy was not arrested or charged and claimed he was just giving Seiuli a ride.[75][76]

I was a kid in the 80s, so here is what happened:
Eddie Murphy became a superstar on Saturday Night Live. Buckwheat, Mr Robinson's Neighborhood and Gumby were the equivalent to The Chapelle Show at its height. Guys in the their teens and 20s would talk about Eddie on SNL the same way guys talked about Dave saying "Im Rick James, bitch" on Chapelle Show.
So when Eddie started doing movies, he had a huge built in audience. Beverley Hills Cop was the perfect movie at the perfect time, because it brought his huge fanbase from SNL and his comedy albums. In the 80s Eddie was to comedy what Michael Jackson was to music, the black guy in his specific field that white people loved.

>A few years ago I made some jokes about homosexuals, and let me tell you, faggots were mad. I can't go out any more, they've got 24/7 homo-watch on me now. I can't go to San Francisco no more. They having faggots waiting at the airport waiting for me saying "yeth, it'th hem, it'th hem!"
Dominic Williams
>In the 80s Eddie was to comedy what Michael Jackson was to music
Jesus was Murphy really that huge?
Josiah Cook
Young Eddie Murphy was funny as fuck - as funny as his idols, imo. And he was very likeable. But what seperated him at the box office from guys like Pryor and Carlin is that Eddie can also star as macho leading man types. He had sex appeal.
So he was liked and admired by all and everyone rooted for him. Until he was caught with a tranny.

See in the 80s people were racist, but we were all still Americans. Blacks were integrating more and realized they wanted a piece of the action. The amplification on both sides wasn't there. The left wasn't bitching about inclusion, and whites weren't bitching about segregation - but even if they were we only had 3 channels and HBO.
Now we can hear anybody who has a phone. Too many opinions and most of them bad.
Anyway, White America didn't generally care if a nog got famous if he was good at what he did, but that didn't mean he wanted him fucking his daughter.
Adam Green
OP, it's because Eddie Murphy is basically a white man in a black body. Delirious and Raw are GOD-TIER and the two best stand up comedy tapes ever made!!!FACT!!!
Nathaniel Reed
>Jesus was Murphy really that huge?
Go listen to Charlie Murphy's stories on Chapelle Show when he was a bodyguard for Eddie in the 80s, he would say when Eddie would leave a huge club with his entourage, Eddie would literally "drain the club" of people, they would all follow Eddie instead of staying in the club.
Wyatt Sanders
>Anyway, White America didn't generally care if a nog got famous if he was good at what he did, but that didn't mean he wanted him fucking his daughter.

>it's because Eddie Murphy is basically a white man in a black body
Depends what you mean by that. Murphy's comedy revolved a lot around racial humor, do you mean his instincts for business and film was of a white man
Carter Gray
>Eddie Murphy is basically a white man in a black body
Don't reply to this retard.
Connor White
It's funny how blacks bitch and whine today but in the early to mid 80's America's biggest comedy star was black (Murphy), it's biggest musician was still black at the time (Michael Jackson) and TV's biggest show starred a black man (Cosby Show)!!!FACT!!!

>On April 22, 1998, Seiul was found dead on the sidewalk outside of her apartment building by a neighbor in the same building. Clad only in lingerie, the official story is that Shalimar was locked out of her apartment and tried to use her robe as a rope to slide down from the roof then swing to an open window but instead she fell five floors and suffered severe head trauma resulting in her death.[5] However, it is suspected by many in the industry that a professional fixer pushed her out of her apartment window to prevent her from testifying to an ongoing relationship with Eddie Murphy in Murphy's lawsuit against the National Enquirer and Globe tabloids for $10 million.[6]
I can't wait for him to get Jackson'd.

>The left wasn't bitching about inclusion, and whites weren't bitching about segregation
This is a massive generalization that I think only applies to certain people.
In my upper middle class experience, Reagan was seen by the left as an out and out racist. Dems in the 80s felt compelled to offer up the first female vice presidential candidate. So the left was absolutely bitching.
The right wasnt bitching as much because they had their man in the white house for the entire decade.
Grayson Parker
EDDIIEEEEE WHAT HAV U DUN FOR MEE LATELEEEE.

Yes, white people were more accepting in the 80s. That's true. So what happened?

>Depends what you mean by that. Murphy's comedy revolved a lot around racial humor, do you mean his instincts for business and film was of a white man
I think I mean that he doesn't let his ethnicity define him. He's black and talks a lot about that but there isn't the usual inferiority complex vibe that emanates from most blacks that whitey is keeping them down. It's like being black is incidental for him and he makes the most of it. I could never hate Eddie Murphy and I wish we could have got a hard R-rated Beverly Hills Cop in 2014 for the 30th anniversary!!!FACT!!!
Xavier Myers

Why don't you fuck off back to Trouble City where self-loathing-father-hating-black-cock-worshipping-closet-faggots like you can spread your faggotry as wide as your gaping asshole does for tranny dick you shit eating subhuman mongrel scumbag fuckface!!!FACT!!!

>Yes, white people were more accepting in the 80s. That's true. So what happened?
Both the left and the right have gone full-retard. Our manufacturing base started being shipped to slave labor countries (China, Mexico, India) and that left a lot of bitter middle-lower class people who scapegoated minorities for their problems and not the scum politicians they voted for who pulled the rug out from under them. Then you have the left wing who generally hate the working class and think gender and race issues are the end all be all of civilization.
Know why Hillary Clinton lost to the most easily beatable candidate in history? It's because her base hates the working classes and have been telling them "sorry white people but your time is over and all those jobs aren't coming back oh and blacks deserve the jobs that are left because of slavery etc..."
The right is just jingoistic retardation but the left is arrogantly condescending towards the middle-lower classes and it's no coincidence that most of their shit comes from colleges and universities filled with people who think they're better than blue collar workers who they look down on while 99% of the time it's mommy and daddy working low wage shit jobs to put those ungrateful bastards through school.
!!!FACT!!!

You forgot the other Michael mang

He was just preserving the order though. That's what conservative means. Opportunity existed for blacks that wanted to buy in and tow the line...Eddie Murphy is an example. For most people this was good. The problem is the internet has militarized all of us.
Instead of forcing good citizens to become we allow our whole culture to bow down to shotty citizens with no brains.
Eventually if too much chaos rains we all fall down. It's beyond race.
Anthony Howard
How about Mike Tyson?
I'm starting to think being black and naming your kid Michael is the first step to having successful kids.
Bentley King
To further explain...it's the difference between being feminist..and pro feminist. You can't just agree with parts of feminism...you must be a feminist crusader to be accepted by progressive media. Which is the majority of it.
It's tryanny to force mind think but progressives are so brain washed and so full of guilt and self hate they have to signal to feel like good citizens.
Meanwhile norms and values erode. Depression skyrockets. Drugs become more powerful. Society is falling into a loop. Young women fucking 50 year old men for money. Blacks openly hating whites. A lack of any cohesion in society.
You're actually playing into the hands if real radicalized racist tho. They want war on the street to allow a new order to wipe out the corrupt one with force.
Brayden Walker
Mike Tyson was given weed and booze at 7 by his mother. A white man saved him and made him Champ but he died. Then Michael went to jail.
I admire him for being as together as he is now. He's been through more than most men could fathom.
Michael Jordan loved white people and was given an education at UNC. He was the America dream. And still is.
Chase Ortiz
people liked his gay jokes

shit lol how'd i forget Iron Mike.
So, blacks had the market on boxing, basketball (both sports arguably peaked in the 80's 90's) pop music, comedy and sitcom tv cornered.

I think 2000 was the cutoff point where good eddie murphy movies were made
Josiah Barnes
Eddie picked a lot of bad movies during the 90's (the one where he's an alien inside eddie murphy comes to mind) and since he had enough money to never have to work again he prefer to keep his image unshattered
