>I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD!
>I SENT HIM TO A DEAF SCHOOL THAT WILL EDUCATE AND INTEGRATE HIM BETTER THAN I EVER COULD! HE'LL BE INDEPENDENT ENOUGH TO START HIS OWN OIL COMPANY AND RAISE A FAMILY!
>I'VE ABANDONED MY BOY!
I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD!
and why is it that he had to be sent to a deaf school OP? do take your time in answering
I want him to play Hitler, the bunker scene
>bastard from a basket
He at least had the concerns of and attempted to be a good father.
Do people like you tabulate the (you)'s produced by your reposts? Are you a shitposting man?
The most common interpretation of this movie I see is that he didn't care about his son. I always thought he did but didn't know how to be a caring person.
I couldn't get away sooner because my new thread was coming in at Yea Forums, and I had to see about it. That thread is now flowing at 200 replies; it's paying me an income of 5 (You)s a minute. I have two others filling and I have 16 baiting at /pol/. So ladies and gentlemen if I say I'm a shitposter, you will agree.
This is my son, H. W. Say something nice about him.
I think you're right
Most critics absolutely did not understand Plainview's motivations whatsoever.
"Oh he wants to be alone? He has difficulty trusting people? He struggles to relate to his son? He's obviously a sociopath"
He did feel guilty that HW was going to be fucked up, but also a lot of the reason he made this scene was also to play along with the Danofag.
He obviously cares about his son, and his final scene with him is proof. He knows his son is deaf, and he continues to yell "bastard in a basket", not to hurt his son, but in an attempt to convince himself that he doesn't love him.
and the part about being a little intimidated by his own son. the man succeeded because he absolutely could not tolerate competition and his boy turns into a competent human being but that makes him a threat. It's a very masculine father/son problem and if flew right over people's heads.
This
Uh, all of these things make him evil.
WE HAVE A REDDITOR HERE! GET OUT OF HERE PSEUD!
cause he is deaf
The child represents the people who grew up in the 20th century and the luxury / wealth and damage caused by unrestrained capitalism.
>(((Hollywood))) produced Hitler film
No thanks, I've seen that movie before.
He'd actually be a pretty good Hitler. Hitler had this earthy soothing voice, Bruno Ganz only emulated his speech climax voice in every situation.
from my point of view the oil is evil
Hey Eli, if you don't mind, could you tell me what the "third revelation" actually is? Revelation of what?
He probably cares about him more than about anybody else on this planet, which is still not too much. I think that's the point.
What was the name of the farm next to the Hill house, user?
You can't forge a sword without the anvil. The popular term is 'toxic masculinity' but the psychological upbringing that made Plainview an absolute douche is also what made him hold onto his oil company in the first place. That kind of hyper competitive attitude is still taught today and worse is married with capitalism. These men are taught to be 'winners' but eventually every man must accept that time conquers all and the next generation will succeed them matter what, he loved the reminder of his own inevitable defeat.
It's a hell of a mind fuck and while 'evil' it's also produce incredible results, including providing a deaf orphan with the education and capital to start his own business.
>[x] represents [y]
fag. the movie is about Daniel Plainview overcoming the things that in his mind would have made him a softer, more complacent man. all he wants is competition and progress.
his son could have made him more complacent, but he lost the ability to communicate with him like a normal person so he sends him away.
his "brother" was about to make him more complacent since having a close peer around made him feel more peaceful, less angry at the world. then his "brother" turns out to be a lying snake so he kills him.
Eli tried to change Daniel and Daniel hated him for this, since he sees right through Eli's bullshit from the start. he also hates how Eli has a different kind of power, the kind that slows progress and keeps people stupid.
at the end of the movie Daniel has already killed one of these three. he then disowns his son and kills Eli after showing him that Daniel's kind of power (determination and wealth) is more real and potent than Eli's power (lying to people with superstition) and says "i'm finished" which to me says that he is finished with overcoming the three characters who pull on him through the movie and (in Daniel's mind) change his nature.
it's not about muh capitalism, it's a story about Daniel Plainview but 90iqs can't watch a movie without it having a "point" about society to take away.
I want you to look over there. Look over there! You see. That's my son. You see him? You see? Do not tell me how to raise my family.
Great post user
>cucktheist has a murder boner fantasy
