Why do people pretend this was a good movie? Apart from Al Pacino, the acting was fucking horrible, absolutely terrible. The story isn't really that interesting either, some street thug does a lot of ban things and eventually becomes the big fish and then dies.

Watch the documentary Cocaine Cowboys, both cuts - Scarface is basically 100% accurate except for the ending.
Honestly only movie hipster snobs don't like Scarface, movie is great.
it created all the cliches you fault it for
Every group in America that has given shit likes Scarface
Italians like it
Blacks like it
Cubans like it
Mexicans like it
Irish like it
Jews and Asians I'm not sure
But basically anybody who's not a stuck up WASP fuck likes Scarface
>all i got in this store is my feed and my seed and i dont break either of em for nobody
Thank God I grew up playing Vice City so I gave this movie the respect it deserves by watching it in 2003 and every year since then.
>its another episode of a zoomer in his 20s thinking he's old
also vice city was shit, GTA III is the GOAT
Most people who like scarface have never watched the entirety of scarface desu.
>GTA3, the game with the entire Scarface soundtrack
Oof, just outed yourself
I'ma stuck up WASP fuck and I like Scarface.
Have watched the entirety of it several times, even have the new bluray with the awful new sound effects
Don't @ me you queermosexual
lmao no, GTA III was just a transitional version made just to display the technology with almost zero world building, vice city has created an actual world
nigga im not the OP, just calling that zoomer out
gta 3 had soul
SNIFFING PILES OF COCAINE
Whites cannot understand this film, give it a rest
Only good thing about gta III is msx fm
I remember being absolute floored by the graphics when it first came out though
>vice city has created an actual world
It’s the shitty in-betweener stuck between the better 3 and SA.
>bashing Vice City in a Scarface thread
back to Yea Forums faggot.
Interesting. It's the only movie that's 2.5 hrs long that most people can remember all the dialogue by heart. It really must be shit then.
it's loved by non-middle class europeans as well
Maybe because it’s loaded with swears, which is too much for Puritan Protestant ears.
this post will go ignored, and it shouldn't.
this
>vice city was shit
oh no he's retarded
Sex and the City for white women is what Scarface is for street rats
>apart from pacino
He can't act himself.
you mean everyone that came over on a fucking banana boat man
Ju know what a " Hasa " is Frank?!
it was an inside joke (proto-meme) in the 00's because of MTV cribs
lots of brainlets identify with the one dimensional plot and protagonist
like that other user said, its the shit bridge between the superior III and san andreas
zoomers in their young 20s just like it because they grew up with it
Niggers made it ironically popular because the amount of times it was mentioned by rappers on Cribs. White people who want to seem ‘authentic’ now act like they’ve always liked it. It’s pathetic but it is what it is.
>one dimensional plot
>comparing a de palma film to a tv series for women
maybe sopranos
I DIDNT FUCK OVER NOBODY IN MY LIFE WHO DIDNT HAVE IT COMING, ESSE
>Pic Related
This. I have a cousin who was a coke mule/dealer who cited this as his favourite movie and that he wanted the life Montana had. Without missing a beat, I immediately asked, "You do remember how that movie ended, don't you?"
He replied: "That won't happen to me!"
his friend(Manny i think is the name) is also a good actor
Carlito's Way > Scarface
/thread
people just like it because others like it and its a "classic"
Essential threads made by women
There are some unironic women ITT who don't get the appeal of being a man like Tony and grabbing the world by the balls
*blocks your path*
werent they making a remake? hows the progress on that?
>yfw its a remake of a remake
yfw they were supposed to remake The Warriors as well
What's the difference between the cuts?
Forgot the pic
damn thats contrarian. even for here
Some stories go on longer, some stories are cut entirely to tell a different version of news events at the time IIRC. One of the best interviewees tells a longer version of the story in the regular cut of when he was on the run
They both have different flows and feels to them and what information they find interesting, though obviously intersect here and there
Oh, easily.
Technically it is a better film since DePalma's not good at making epic scope films work, but I like Scarface more because it has such a strong, fuck you 80s aesthetic whereby Carlito's Way is just a well-made retro 70s gangster film. Also that drawn out, one-take steadicam shot in the train station is pure kino.
The story is good as it puts emphasis on Tony's ambition and wrath as his primary flaws. He'd arguably be a successful businessman if he was more patient, but working as a dish bitch and earning a meager salary just didn't cut it.
this movie, like miami vice, is this larger than life creature that encapsulates the last decade with a sense of style: the mother fucking 80s.
so the time passing works at its advantage.
whats is cool gets even cooler, whats campy, gets charming, there is no way to lose.
and it is a fucking great movie, somehow the mimetism of de palma, stone and a bunch of cocaine made KINO like no other.
>blacks and latinos love it
not a surprise, blacks and latinos aka brown spics were able to be "man" for more time in our PC era.
nowadays not even them can escape: just look at BLACK PANTHER: all the women are more relevant and have more importance to the story. even blackatino spider man is this clumpsy onions.
every man of every race must pee sit down, thats the rule - and maybe THATS is how shit starts to crumble. because you cannot confine man to do man shit, one way or another they will be what they are mean to be.
why do people pretend any movie is good
youtube.com
best scene of the movie coming through
Jon Roberts book is really good too
My favorite part of Scarface is when they go to Medelin, or wherever, to visit the guy's operations.
The music and locale are just really nice to me. The rest of the movie is OK.
>no patrician lemon boat to new orleans
>in 20 years we'll have a dump of movies glorifying the cartels
can't wait
