I enjoy the manga so far but the movie condenses and humanizes everybody a lot better imo.. To be fair I've never been all that into any comics as I feel like they're sacrificing the detail and depth of a novel or the viscerally engaging aspect of a movie to make a specific kind of story. People complain that the movie is rushed but honestly from reading page 1 of volume 1 the manga moves at a breakneck pace.

Also, the Yugo x Vector relationship is better in the manga, as it shows you why Vector was so sympathetic to him (he was an amazing employee, as he was collecting 10 Million credits in 3 and a half years even when the normal guy would had to spend 10 years of doing so).
The movie is objectively better than Volume 1 but subjectively for Vol. 2
Not because of the changed events, but because of the LACK of hugo’s backstory. They could’ve increased the length of the film for 10-20 minutes and explained all of this, like:
>Vector: “Damn Hugo, you’re an amazing employee, you have collected more credits than anyone else. I’m going to open a new factory and I want you to be a supervisor, why don’t you stay here and forget about Zalem?”

Was the first time I've been to the cinemas by myself, even tho I see loads of people go alone nowadays. One thing about movie Hugo that's interesting is that I think he was originally intended to have a really high end body Ido built by hand. I think there's a picture of it in one of the supplemental books and someone in these threads said it was referenced in an earlier draft of the script or something. I'm curious as to why it was replaced with the piece of junk he got in the final movie.
