This movie fucking sucked in every aspect.

The planet wasn't any more dangerous than ours.

microorganisms that humans have never encountered before aren't dangerous enough to warrant some protective suits?

I was really confused by the logic of the movie.
They bring guns, so clearly they were preparing for potential alien life, but somehow that preparedness doesn't extend to microorganisms? That's absolutely retarded.

Not really, no. The landing team walked around the planet for a whole day and only two people got infected. It was probably statistically safer than when europeans went into malaria infested equatorial jungles for the first time.

>The landing team walked around the planet for a whole day and only two people got infected
>ONLY two

The fungi cover the entire planet. Only two people dead from a hazard that their scanners didn't detect and they didn't prepare for is pretty good.

When America was colonized by Europe plenty of natives died of illness that that had long been tamed by the European immune system and vise-versa. I imagine an alien planet could possibly raise those problems as well.

That's why they scanned the planet, and got nothing. From their perspective, not wearing suits was justified. The spores are unique to that planet, and unique enough in biology that the devices that can scan a whole planet for biological hazards didn't detect them. And even then, only two people died. You act like people dying at all was a massive disaster, but it really wasn't. The fatal spores were not the problem, the neomorphs were far more dangerous despite the crew actually having the necessary equipment to kill them.

Ridley Scott is a fucking hack

This

>only two
>out of 12
>that lead to several deaths
lol like dude like only 20% of a population died to this one specific thing in a day, like, not a big deal bro

That's lower than infant mortality in the middle ages.

They flew incompetent morons across the universe, they weren't very logical to begin with. The people that we send into space don't fuck around, and the idea that space travel becomes this shit show of rednecks has always been ridiculous. Truckers, miners, drillers, welders, pilots, and astronauts get paid well for what they do and the space version of that wouldn't be some random collection of idiots. Sure there are idiot truckers, miners and so on but they are mostly idiots off the job, when they have to not die being stupid for a living they perform.

They scanned the planet for things they knew, how do you scan or test for a thing you don't know exists?

you've completely missed the point

if they sent actually trained smart people then they'd all be white guys
gotta lower those standards you kno'

Incompatible with humans most likely as far as alien ones are concerned.

Everyone but the pilot in Prometheus was white and they were all complete fucking morons

The problem is that writers don't know how to make the monsters threatening to a team of competent characters. Also the writers have never had blue collar jobs so they don't really know what competence in such a situation would even look like. Writing the characters to be stupid is the easiest way to put them in dangerous situations and set up jump scares.
