Could Blockbuster have been saved?
Could Blockbuster have been saved?
They could've bought Netflix, before Netflix got huge. Blockbuster would've bankrupted themselves and Netflix a bit later. A win/win for everybody involved
They could have purchased Netflix for 85 million dollars. So yes.
Let's say you own a blockbuster. You have to pay rent utilities upkeep on the physical store. You have to pay 2-3 employees to man the store every hour it's open. You have to either pay a manager to watch the money make deposits and manage the promotions and advertising or do it yourself.
Or you could buy a vending machine to do all of that.

even a BlockBuster THREAD can't stay alive

It's such a tired subject that rose-tinted-goggle-wearing redditors won't let go.

Why haven't all stores become vending machines then?
they have every opportunity to move to the internet in a meaningful way and overtake netflix with their brand recognition but just stuck with their obsolete business model
Because not every store sells things that can easily be stored and distributed in a vending machine
There were 2 options, die or buy netflix.
Either way the end result would of been the same, just a different company making the profits.
What the fuck happened to Gamefly?
Aussie here we even had these shitty stores everywhere as bad as mom and pop ones
>rude staff with stupid rules
>DVD vhs cds vidya and blu ray all damaged
>no refunds if the rentals did not work
>expensive 3-10aud a day for broken shit
>late fees
Only decent shop was a tiny local one run by a autist but the big chains where all aids.
Don't miss physical media at all as I have terabytes of x265 rips
I was amazed just now looking it up that gamefly still actually exists
Yes, but you'd have to turn it into an after dark social club for zoomers to mingle in a comfy 90s setting. Have a soda ice cream bar and some SNES vidya couches reservable for bottle service (Clearly Canadian).
But zoomers couldn't give less of a shit about the 90s
>Halfway through the first month of the year
>Nobody had rented anything yet
Damn, that sucks. I can't imagine why anyone would still work there at this point. Job security has got to be a constant concern.
Basically, turn it into a barcade. That would be more of a boomer thing anyway.
Blockbuster was cancerous. It's a shame because they killed porn and independent kino in vidya.
>If we’re being honest, though, most people come in to use our bathroom or hang out with Chad, a senior on the football team who works Tuesdays and Thursday nights.
Basically they will. Because vending prevents loss via handling and theft. It's more profitable. But like driverless cars the powers that be are afraid of massive permanent unemployment.
No. It's the digital era now.
It's a joke account
