Funny but I've thought of a live action adaption, and it just doesn't work.
I've love to see a high budget reanimation with more time to give depth to the characters and but that is unrealistic, no one invests big budget production into animation anymore, it would get CG'd to shit.
Overall Akira is too out of this world to live action adapt without horrible CGI and goofy looking costumes.
