Twilight zone has always been known to have stories that add a political commentary; some a less on the nose, some a little more on the nose, but not all the goddam episodes did this, there was fucking variety and the commentary itself didn’t fucking take away from the actual story.

There’s an episode about a man going mad by playing god on alien planet, there’s an episode of a man getting haunted by his car after the guilt of running over a child which killed said child, there was an episode about little men attacking a old woman in her house which turns out to be humans were the little men on a world for giants, there’s an episode about trying to find an alien among a group of bus riders in a diner. You don’t need to shove your agenda in every episode, all you need to do is write simple but engageful stories with a neat twist at the end. You also don’t need to remake classic and well written episodes and also turn them into political autism.

To add to this, The Twilight Zone originally came out in a time where a lot of its political statements genuinely needed to be said. That's the mentality that annoys me these days - we have equality. There is still individual racism and bigotry, but the system is fair -in fact if anything it's tipped in minorities' favour through things like affirmative action etc- and these cunts legit think we live in some crazy racist state where black children are gunned down in the street in droves and the average person needs it explained to them that black people are people too. What these people don't understand is that nobody gives a shit, the vast majority of people don't have an opinion either way until they get pissed off with having the agenda shoved down their throats 24/7. The problem is that the show would benefit from up-and-comers who are hungry and want to do something original and risky BUT the money they're putting into it means they'd never hire anyone who wasn't established or was a risk.

So you have a show where you can do practically anything you want and tell any story and you give it to people who are comfortable with phoning it in.

I think it was an Outer Limits episode when David Hyde Pierce(Niles from Fraiser) played a scientist who developed a machine that would simulate the entire duration of a prison sentence in under an hour, so the prisoner would experience several decades of mental jail while being conditioned to better themselves, get an education, be less of a criminal and then upon "release" they'd return to society cured of their criminality.
Only problem was that it didn't account for innocent people being in the program and it would torture them so he went into the simulator to save this innocent person [spoilers]they died and he went to jail for forty years for negligence only to finally get released after learning his lesson to discover he'd been in the machine the entire time[/spoilers].

The episode shows a flight where the passengers are able to view cameras inside the cabin from multiple perspectives watching the pilots, obviously to resolve a plot problem like: why would passengers be scsred of something happening in the cabin if they cant even know what goes on there. Because obviously later on something bad happens in the cabin.
