>I have sibling rivalry with Orson Welles … I don’t think he’s that good. All right? I have sibling rivalry with him and Stanley Kubrick...They’re not all that. All right?

Surely he didn't say this.

HELLO GORDON.

if tarantino is so good then why are pulp fiction and reservoir dogs the only films of his that people actually remember? if tarantino is so good why cant he make a film that isn't just epic pop culture references?

What's going on here?

You need to be on the same level of that person in order for it to be sibling rivalry. Sorry to break it for you, Quent.

I loved Django

>rich man bad
>it was the sled the whole time! waht a twist!
Citizen Kane sucks.

meant for

Cuck

he likes pulp and exploitation films what do you expect him to say?

If it helps motivate him to make better movies then good.

based.

This fucking hack isn't fit to hold a camera for Kubrick

Go make another cuckold fantasy movie u jerkoff

so fucking based, i love his all movies

The only reason many people think that Tarintino is so great is because they don’t know much about film history. He lifts A LOT from old foreign films.

I agree, I don't think he's flawless. For me he's hit and miss. And again agreed more misses than hits, and we all know the ones. However I think it's also fair to recognize that he is somewhat singular for a few reasons, and has had a tangible impact on the industry during his prime. For good or bad dialogues in Hollywood scripts changed because of him.
He doesn't speak often about cinema's greats. The hitchcocks Kubricks and co, I think he's scared to be compared, he seems much more comfortable in genre cinema. In his mind he's still probably more of a writer than a pure director.

UNO

Literally every "great" director does this

>He lifts A LOT from old foreign films.
No shit. But at least he's honest about it.

>that hairline
faggot should shave. looks like some old grandma

He is but a fourth of the giant that is Orsen, both in size and skill. WTF is he thinking?

But they usually develop into thier own style. Tostino just copy and pastes

Totino has a style. His films are noted for hyperviolence and pop culture references with a generous helping of Uma Thurman footkino.

what difference will it make lol, he's 60 years old user

Is Tarantino the first director to cast himself saying Nigger over and over to Samuel L Jackson? That could be his thing.

i'm black

His first 2 or 3 films were good, maybe even great, because back then Tarantino wasn't so full of himself. He still had to sell the audience on a film that was above knowing the director, like all other film makers do. His modern films still have competent actors and cinematographers, etc., but the writing and plot have become self-serving.
I still like Reservoir Dogs because it sold me on the movie. Modern Tarantino movies only want to sell us on Quintin Tarantino.
A director or screenplay writer need to sell us on the movie. Tarantino "still believes in the magic of movies," according to himself, but he misses the big magic: making us believe in the movie, believe that the stuff on screen feels real, real enough to make a cultural point of reference. Star Wars and LOTR sold the audience on the magic and characters of the movie, to the point where we talk about the characters like they're a living Aesop, just like the Greek philosophers would draw from Homeric poems and other fictional stories.

He said it sarcastically.

Fucking awful article. There are many legitimate ways to criticise Tarantino, this includes none of them.

yeah he has a lot of dumb opinions like this. he also doesn't like hitchock, prefers the psycho sequels to the original. prefers the breathless remake to godard's.

You'd be surprised.

sure.......

UNO FARTO 3:14

>I think this director is mediocre at best and yet i endlessly meme about him on img boards for faggots.

He's in yr head Yea Forums. He's in most people's heads. And if he is the cultural touchstone that you respond to the most, even ironically, doesn't that mean he's had an impact as an artist?

lol no you don't. You just have to be their sibling.

Django was fun. I'm a potatonigger

cringe and yikes

What an egotistical faggot. I have no idea how he has such a grandiose opinion of himself.

Good artists borrow. Great ones steal.

>I didn't go to film school, I went to films!
oh it shows quentin, it shows

I'm convinced that at his core he's a writer, and despite all his bullshit video-store myth or all his genre cinema endeavors and comments, he's not a visually driven storyteller. That's part of his problem when compared to the cinema greats, because visually he's rather insignificant. His visual style was established by his second movie and has not significantly improved since. His innovations and contributions while true and honorable are ultimately restricted to the scriptwriting sphere.
