It's just Cinderella with real people. Perfectly fine, perfectly forgettable.

Surprisingly yes, it almost entirely avoids adding anachronistic progressive shit. The only thing in there is some diversity casting, the head of the Royal Guard is a nig and there some black nobles in non-speaking roles. That said the actor who plays the Captain of the Guard is quite likable and charismatic so I give it a pass.

It's a great film that surpasses the original and has so much more depth. The only thing the original had that this doesn't would be the fun musical sequences.

Maleficent was the best character in Sleeping Beauty and every scene without her was a bore. It makes perfect sense that she'd be the focal point of the live-action remake. Honestly I think it's a great movie and Jolie is an underrated actress

The difference with this one is insufferably boring - it's a remake played completely straight with a plot that is basically driven forward by "What completely pointlessly evil thing will the stepmother do now?"

Eh, I found her sympathetic and Lily James was perfect for the role. I also thought they made the Stepmother more complex than in the original but still evil. Different strokes, I love the movie

I hope you're not confusing the movie I posted with the newer version. The movie I posted is from the 90s and it's an action-adventure film in the Indiana Jones vein, and it's really good. Beauty and the Beast was mediocre at best
