I thought it was interesting how the show made it a bit more ominous and fucked than the short story.
Like you see all those crashed ships in the web, and you see his dead crewmates, and you immediatley think that she's just feeding off him, he's fucked.
But in the story, she admits that people end up there all the time, and she tries her best to keep them safe and alive, and that his crew actually died because thier oxygen scrubbers got clogged with dust and paint over the past couple hundred years.
His body looks haggard and emaciated, but its probably because whatever she eats just isn't very nourishing for a human, but if you notice just how skinny and fucked his body really is, he shouldn't even be alive, proving that she really has been trying her best to care for him
