chernobyl was an awful disaster, but not because a plant exploded and people died, but that it was caused by a state that couldn't feed its own people let alone run a nuclear power plant, and now everyone thinks nuclear power is far more dangerous than it actually is. the irony is that nuclear power is probably the cleanest of all of the "alternative sources" but environmentalists would rather strip mine the chinese backwater of rare earth minerals for solar and shit like that

Looks pretty promising authenticity-wise so far. Most of the actors easily pass for slavs, clothing/uniforms appear to be in order. Nice to see the Terror guys, hope they've saved up some of that superfluous lead from their previous gig. Looking at the 01:59 shot, they're probably going to show the part where conscripts were sent to shovel the radioactive shit off the reactor's roof after all the remote controlled vehicles they'd used for it had failed due to radiation exposure. Hopefully the series will relay this grittiness. Also looking forward to that red forest part.
