Ah fuck yeah, I love this scene.

Pete truly is a
Mad Man

Rodger is the best but Pete is a close second.

Pete might be the best but only after the powergap following Based Sterling

grimy little pimp

B&R

What scene was that? I thought he hated smokers

HELLS BELLS TRUDY!

Childhood is idolizing the rifle. Adulthood is understanding that the chip and dip makes more sense.

Pete was the best. He had the most growth, the best storytelling arc, and was the most realistic of the group.

And his wife was by far the hottest.

Roger was the epitome of male fantasy and had the best lines and scenes so everyone loves him the most. And they should.

True post.

It's when he grabbed a joint out of somebody's hands and took a puff and the 60s began for him

Attached: 1507939809923.jpg (908x563, 302K)

isn't Don by definition the epitome of male fantasy?

A chip and dip?

Roger's life > Don's life
Don is a self-sabotaging, pseudo who has everything several times and still squanders it

This show memed me so hard I now work at an Accounting Firm and am essentially Ken. Television is a hell of a drug.

yeah, but he's still the alpha male of the show
something he's proved numerous times, even with roger (i.e. the episode where Roger barfs in public)

Don and Roger are deconstructions of masculinity. Don is a broken man that is only alpha at work but gets played around by the women he fucks and the people that reminds him of his past.
Roger is a fake sucessful man that has done nothing of worth in his life, he merely inherits it. Outside of his bubble of money and work he is no one and he knows it.

BEWARE THE MEN IN CHEAP SUITS

>most character development
>rich, successful, loyal
>most morally complex character
>always tries to do the right thing but always gets fucked

You can’t be proven wrong. It’s physically impossible.

what was that in regard to? i remember the quote but not the context
was that from The Crash when they all are cranked up on meth?

To like pete is to not understand pete

pete did not grow at all. He starts off as a delusional man child getting everything in life thrown at him because of his name and ends up a delusional manchild who had everything in his life thrown at him because of his name.

Roger > Pete > Harry > Bert > Ken > Lane > Don > Duck > Ginsburg > Sal > Stan > Henry > Paul > that midget guy > Rumsen > Bobby

Pete tries to be Don (the idialized version of him mind you) and realizes he can't. That is his entire arc

Roger may have based lines but he is an account man who basically landed 1 account in his career (not including inheriting the tobacco company). His arc ends with his Daughter run off and only a Bastard child that doesn't have his name.
Pete starts off as a runt who got his position only because of his name but becomes good at his job (but not godly like Ken from memory). After idolizing and trying to emulate Don for years he finally has the fucked up family life to match and fights to try rectify it and move forward at the end of the Series

All Lane fans owe it to themselves to watch season 1 of The Terror. Holy fucking kino, Jared Harris is a legend.

do you guys think Trudy slept with other men while Pete and them were apart? not like it would matter since she was damaged goods when they got married anyway

CHRIST ON A CRACKER

>not a hellcat
one job

>tfw Pete sees right through you but nobody gives a shit due to your aura of mystery and reputation for being a genuis
heh, nothin personnel kid

>sees right through you
>randomly steals 100% evidence

>I thought they were for your family!
Always cracks me up. The show was always so much better when you had odd couple pairings like Harry/Don and Peggy/Roger.

I would bother breaking down your talking points and rebutting them but you are so fucking stupid that even acknowledging your existence is a waste of my time.

>the dropped plotline of Bert's political influencing and high society movements
>Ginsberg gets shown to be a creative talent that rivals Don but DUDE COMPUTERS
>Ted gets brought in to become a broken cuck
>Sal getting cut for BTFOing Glen

Enduring what felt like 15 minutes of Dons marital shit every episode towards the end begun to get tedious when what could have been interesting stuff got dropped

She was an astronaut.

Friends is down the hall and to the left

I agree that a lot of great stuff that could have happened didn't, but the show was nearly flawless
Megan was ultimately the worst part of it, both her character and actress are awful

she cute tho

>t. horsefucker

LIVIN LIFE IN THE FAST CRANE

not only is he the most based character, he's the one who got into most fights
>punched Ken when he called Peggy fat
>got in a fist fight with Lane
>got in a fight with his waifu's husband on the train
>punched the school principal in the face
also has the best one-liners when he's pissed off
>DRAPER!
>Well, I'm president of the Howdy-Doody Circus Army!
>Not great, Bob!
>HELLS BELLS, TRUDY!
>We got a peanut butter cookie problem!
>The king ordered it!
>The biggest blackest prostitute!

The most anticlimatic plot was Don-Sally's relationship. It doesn't evolve at all after season 6 and it was the entire plot of season 6

Sally just wants to love her daddy.

It is an unresolved arc. They just didn't have time to finish it and decided to ditch it in favor of shittier arcs like Joan's

That is just not correct, sir

It does evolve mostly off-screen between season 6 and 7. He tells Sally about his past, and then early in season 7 she seems to forgive him for the incident in season 6.

How do they resolve it? Maybe I missed something but it is basically over when they had that little fight before she leaves for her road trip. They finished Don and Betty's arc but they never finish Don and Sally's arc in any meaningful way

>she seems to forgive him for the incident in season 6.
She has her little rant with Don when her friends want to fuck her and it ends there. It was my favorite arc on the show and it was mostly untap in season 7 after season 6 great ending

Hey which episode was the one with the visit to a brothel, in which Pete has the prostitute toggle through a bunch of selections like a character selection screen?

Sal BTFOd glen? what.

the show wasn't planned out to the extent of the Sopranos, and that is obvious even from Season 2.

She says "I love you" to Don during Thanksgiving or Christmas I think and it melts his world. The arc doesn't end because we don't see life after Betty dies.

Yeah I binge-watched the entire series over the course of like 2 weeks, after a while it became the "who is Don cheating on his wife with NOW?!" show.

Attached: !!.jpg (487x423, 6K)

That line and the delivery actually got to me for some reason. I almost teared up and I have no idea why.

Attached: .........png (894x773, 48K)

Signal 30, the best episode of the show
"We're supposed to be friends... I have nothing, Don."
shit fucking killed me

This was the best outro to any episode in the series, prove me wrong

Attached: pete.jpg (1280x720, 77K)

>tfw no Bert Cooper origins story spinoff

>"This is where I grew up"
>Ken narrating the man with the miniature orchestra
>Don coming to an empty house after the carrousel pitch
>Peggy crying for being alone and Don freezing in his cold balcony
>"Are you alone?"
>Series finale
>"And who are you supposed to be?"
>"Happy Valentine's, dad. I love you"

Thank you user.

no, Don is the epitome of a FEMALE fantasy

Remember that this show was made by women to flip their clits to Don

Pete’s life is kino

Based and correctpilled

He really grew on me throughout the series so I won't deny it.

This.

Excellent work

My gf hates him, lads. How do I make her take the Petepill?

>Not great, Bob!

Kek. Forgot that one, might be time for a rewatch.

Valentine’s Day, fucking live that ep

>"Happy Valentine's, dad. I love you"
broke me and I ain't even have kids

That fight scene was p. cringe desu. Yeah a fight would have been funny but they could have at least put some effort in to making it look good.

I hate the fact that he plays a beta bitch in that movie too. He promises everyone that they'll live and he is the only one that does, despite the fact that all the characters literally tell him this. I don't mind depressing endings, but the way The Terror ended was just too much.

Respect.

I find it interesting that people say that. Kiernan Shipka is an awful actress imo and if I was autistic enough to screenshot her godawful facial expressions in her most important scenes you'd understand

>harry that high
>stan that low
everything else is top notch, though

yeah like why didn't they have the pasty out-of-shape executive types do legitimate boxing
it would've been so much more "kino" if the British curmudgeon had knocked out the uppity prep school faggot

fuck character building I like BLOOD and GUTS!

Scout's Honor > Speed Racer

This is it. Except I'd throw Bert behind Duck for lack of significant developments in the character for almost a decade, despite having some of the best sonning moments in the show.

Despite that scene Mad Men is still my favourite show of all time, it just seemed like that fight scene was something decided on on the day of filming as some kind of 'fun' excursion. I just think it should have been taken a bit more seriously because the whole scene looks ridiculous, poorly-performed and sucks the immersion for me

>Roger may have based lines
He also plays a mean organ.
youtube.com/watch?v=zuaFw3yYss0

Attached: organ_jam.jpg (1200x675, 49K)

it's weird how you have all of these opinions that nobody else has and it's like you make them up as you go just to try and draw attention to yourself

>but he is an account man who basically landed 1 account in his career (not including inheriting the tobacco company).
He's a proto-millenial

People say that? Not even a pedo but I think she was a very good child actress.

>and it's like you make them up as you go just to try and draw attention to yourself
projecting

I'm just giving my honest opinion

I actually think the final bobby actor was a good child actor. Idk, I do think Kiernan's face is weird but her acting seemed so retarded to me. Her facial expressions seemed so exagerrated

Anyone else feel like their life was sorta like Pete's? I spent my early 20s chasing career, moved to the US from Canada for a high paying job, sold my soul out and became extremely depressed despite crushing it at work.

Moved back to my home town in Canada, make way less money now but actually am happy with my family/relationship life. Anyone else have a similar experience of trading career/money for other things in life?

He fought the japs in WW2. If anyone's a proto-millenial, it's his spoiled daughter.

well kids are not exactly subtle so I was fine with her face.

That’s sort of the point with Rodger and don. They are both in decline while the new generation (Peggy, Ginsburg, etc) is on the rise in advertising. Pete and Ken break they cycle by completely getting out of it all together

I love that he's the one who gets spooked in that scene instead of the nervous girl who hears the ominous music

How is Don in decline? He finishes the series creating the most iconic ad ever created

Yup. Lawyer turned carpenter here.

Dude he nailed Grant in Lincoln. He's the only actor I've ever seen nail down Grant. Dude needs to be in a marvel movie

hahaha it begins

Pete is a millionaire that finishes working as a high executive in a company that is located in a place that with his salary he could live in a palace. I don't think he pulled back from his professional career taking that job in Wichita

Yeah Ginsburg sure is on the rise alright, dumbass

>That line and the delivery actually got to me
Got me too.
>I have no idea why.
I just deleted the wall of text trying to explain it and failing.
Good writing, good acting. Touchy moment.

Literally the entire series is Don’s life and career falling apart, he is finally able to get his shit together and find the peace of mind to make his masterpiece at the end
Don is super intimidated by Ginsburg because he knows his stuff is good, if not better than his own work (like during the snowcone pitch). Idk why they chose to make him go insane but he was definitely the next generation of advertising

>Literally the entire series is Don’s life and career falling apart
The entire series is about Don reconciliating with his past. His carrer just goes upwards (partner, starts company, main partner, sells company for millions of dollars and finishes creating the greatest ad ever)

>Ginsburg
It's Ginsberg, you fucking retards

>t. Goldburg

We got two.

>everyone expected him to shoot up the office and an hero
>instead gets back with his beautiful family and rides into the sunset happily ever after

Let's just admit Pete got the best ending.

Attached: 600px-Mad107-rifle1.jpg (600x340, 79K)

Nah, it's him having every good thing and screwing it up, systematically.

*gets forgotten by the script*
Seriously they gave the literally who midget guy and Rachel cameos at the end, we couldn't have gotten one scene with him?

Attached: sal.jpg (350x500, 42K)

The end of the series was about him finally realizing what he wanted, only for it to be too late. While he creates the Coke ad, it’s supposed to be bitter seeet with him just falling back into what is routine.

Because he said something out of turn and fucked over his working relation. Or was under the delusion that he was on the same level as the show runners.

Yeah, but did he get a Chip. And Dip?

>not only is he the most based character, he's the one who got into most fights
He is the best character, but Roger is the most based. When Roger offered him a chance to step outside, he was frozen in fear.

>becomes Don at the end of the series
It was a seemingly happy ending for him, but the reality is he's just on the same path Don was at the start.

Attached: 1533668873593.png (1411x1529, 1.59M)

The actor that played Salvatore said something about Weiner making his son act and that was what got him written off. Roger was also supposed to die in S1 if you didn't know.

True. I think if the show went on Pete would get bored and take another job in a big city after a few years.

yeah there weren't even any backflips or dual wielding

No hes not. Throughout most of the show pete was aping Don. By the end he realized that despite Don's gravitas, hes a broken man with no family. So he gets his family back and becomes his own man

Nothing wrong with calling out blatant nepotism. Glen fucking sucked.

Any more backstory on this?

After the coke ad Don would be the hottest shit on Madison avenue. He pretty much could set the work conditions that he pleased and maybe he even became a partner at McCann

It seemed like that line was supposed to be funny, and it is to some extent, but there's quite a bit of emotion and untold story behind it.

>most iconic ad ever created
>not the one where the frogs say "Bud" "wei" "ser"

I've only heard it from the /scdp/ threads but apparently he talked shit about Glen's acting ability. The actor is the son of the showrunner, Matthew Weiner

based
wei
ser

Did he make the right call?

Attached: 1437883623720.jpg (3600x2257, 856K)

Fucking hell, I hate nepotism. Matthew really is a fucking weiner.

>people on this board actually like Pete
>even though he was a total scumbag and a sycophant
I will never understand this, the guy literally cheated on his wife with her full knowing and actually tried to prostitute her to get his trash story published when he was jealous of Ken. He really was just a grimy little pimp.

Right call regarding what?

I like Pete because he actually redeems himself. He realizes how much he has fucked up and in the end, seems to be making good headway toward fixing his mistakes.
Meanwhile, Dick “Emotional Fuckup” Whitman goes off and has a fucking crisis and then finds himself and goes back and makes the Coke ad. Where he will probably end up repeating his same behaviors again.
There is no redemption with Don. He’s just good at what he does.

Don't forget: "IT'S A SHAMEFUL, SHAMEFUL DAY."

During that scene he half-apologizes to Sally for his and Betty's bad parenting and says it's up to her to be better than them. That was the conclusion.

Raw dogging Peggy, obviously.

Absolutely BASED

For me, it's Kenny

Oh, I had forgotten about Ted and Jim Cutler. Put Ted between Lane and Don, and Cutler between Henry and Paul.

Watching Mad Men after playing LA Noire was weird because a lot of the actors are in both.
