>Y'all negros said Umbrella Company was kino
no
Yes, it's so good.
Umbrella Company was never good
Umbrella Academy was always garbage. Doom Patrol is unironically kino.
It's hard to say if it's "good".
The CGI is awful, and the characters are kind of weird in that they all seem to have the same exact backstory, and the plot itself (having not read the comics) is not remotely anything like what you'd expect going into a "super hero show".
It's absolutely more The Spirit or some other campy, ridiculous pastiche than it is Justice League or anything like that. The plot is 4th-wall breaking, hard to follow, and not particularly coherent. The characters, a few of them at least, aren't super compelling (mostly blob girl, Crazy Mexican girl, and Gay Burn Victim), and Cyborg is probably the worst part of it I think, he feels to out of place.
But it's also kind of dumb fun sometimes? I like Alan Tudyk chewing the scenery and having fun with it, and Frasier is ironically the best character.
I like Doom Patrol
but I also like Umbrella Academy :c
>mostly blob girl
Rita is the best character after Cliff.
They also actually made Cyborg work, for once.
>Rita is the best character after Cliff.
This is hard to say because 5 episodes in and she hasn't done much to earn that praise. I think the only thing I really like about her character is that she seems the most "real" in the sense that she's not remotely heroic, she's entirely self-absorbed long after her arc should have cleansed her of that sin, and she really doesn't want to do anything. Usually you don't see characters who oppose their role in the plot last this long with that view, the writing usually changes them into reluctant heroes pretty quick.
Outside of the standard Burlanti-gay-shit, yeah. It is OK. They follow some Morrison plots and that alone makes it worth a watch.
It suffers from sometimes trying too hard and of course, as I mentioned, Burlanti absolutely MUST gay up all of his shows. but I sorta enjoy it. 7/10
I wont watch Umbrella Academy.
It kicks the dogshit out of Umbrella Academy.
I like dynamic between Vic and his dad and how Cliff won’t stop ragging on him.
Its great
I'm quite enjoying it, I found Umbrella to be ok
Incidentally I think Venus is a very solid porn lookalike for Rita and my dick agrees
who's this?
It's pretty good and this stuff isnt' my normal shit.
Frasier is hilarious, it's trippy as fuck, Dalton is pretty cool
Somehow they made cyborg actually pretty cool and believable. It's the first time I've ever seen them nail that character down where he was likable. I think it's because they show cyborg as just a random jock dude and not a "perfect black dude". So cyborg fucks up all the time which is nice.
I think part of making a character likeable is giving them flaws, and not just being a diversity token character.
>finished umbrella academy
>it ends on a massive fucking cliffhanger
fuck that show
My wife and I have been watching Doom Patrol for the past few weeks and so far we love it. Though, it's not without it's issues. The overall plot is nonsense and minimal enough that it might as well not even be there. There is some social justice fuckery, but nothing annoying or overly obvious. (Small stuff, like making Negative Man gay, Cyborg's presence, and Rita getting #MeToo-ed etc...) It's stuff you'll occasionally notice, but because it's handled fairly well, you'll quickly forget about. The real reason you'll be watching the show is the characters.
Anytime Timothy Dalton is on screen, he's all you'll pay attention to. He remains a charismatic actor and generally elevates any show he's on.
Robotman is the big draw. Brendan Fraiser's performance is genuinely good and he's clearly the star of the show.
Elasti-woman is the 2nd best character. She usually get more screen time than the other two. They do a respectable job of limiting her powers and keeping her interesting.
Crazy Jane is handled as well as they could, though she's just not that interesting.
Negative Man is more interesting than in the comics, but it doesn't feel like they give him much screen time, likely because it might get expensive. His past is a pandering gay love story, but still entertaining and well acted.
Cyborg isn't great. His actor just isn't very skilled and the character feels largely tacked on. He's not bad, but it's something you'll notice more and more. As for the character, while it's true that Cyborg WAS briefly in the comics, Cyborg's disconnected narrative, being a popular comic character, and a person of color, it just really feels like someone saw the original line-up they had planned and asked "where's the black guy?"
Mr. Nobody is generally much improved over the comics IMO. He's weird, breaks the 4th wall regularly, and is genuinely interesting.
Overall, I'd say give it a shot. I like it, but taste is largely subjective.
Well said. One aspect that I really appreciate is that it’s unashamedly, full-on comic-book weirdness. It’s like the best episodes of Legion.
>Brendan Fraiser's performance is genuinely good and he's clearly the star of the show
That's like saying Vin Diesel puts on an amazing performance as Groot or how Bill Murray steals the show as Garfield.
You are a fucking retard.
You know that's just a body double wearing that costume right? All the mannerisms aren't even Frasers. The only work Fraser does is delivering all his lines (deadpan) from one day in a sound booth. It's not like he researched or even grew with this role, but you're ready give him awards because you're so fucking ignorant that you can't seperate a comic relief character from the one note voice actor.
Coon Patrol is not good, do not waste your time
I don’t think you know what deadpan means. His voice is emotive as fuck.
ur mum lol
