Should I watch Monk?

Should I watch Monk?
I want a mystery/detective series

>Not watching Jonathan Creek
>Not skipping S5 because it's garbage

He's a magician's assistant (the kind that comes up with the tricks, not the one in a leotard getting sawed in half) who solves who unsolvable crimes and lives in a windmill. There's literally nothing more you could want, it's great.

wtf why is the last season the wrong way

Here different sizes to. Meta joke I assume.

Reminder sharonas ass is fat

>1997 to 2014
>only 32 episodes
what the fuck were they doing

There's better TV detective shows.

To trigger your OCD

It was something to do with their only being one writer and he was finding it hard to come up with new memes. Originally there was only the four seasons and a couple of specials (the specials are really enjoyable though).
In S5 you can see how butthurt he is about Sherlock getting so much attention. I think because it ripped off a lot of old stories that weren't even related to Sherlock Holmes and people thought they were original. Or maybe it was just because it was getting more attention than Jonathan Creek did.
They tried to remake it in America, but it didn't fly so good and it got cancelled, iirc, before any episodes aired.

there*

>Listen to XFM
>Steve and Ricky start talking about Columbo
>Start mocking the series because of how easy it is to find out who is responsible for the crime
>Neither of them seem to acknowledge that that isn't the mystery and you watch it to see based Columbo pretend to be some retard before turning around wagging his finger and telling them "there's just one more thing..."

People who shit on Columbo for that reason never actually watched Columbo.

he was also the taxi driver in Mad Mad Mad world

The first few seasons with Sharona as his assistant are the best but it's definitely a hit or miss show. I'm doing a rewatch and there's a lot less detective work by Monk than I remember and more *insert Monk who's OCD in a goofy situation*

Monk is top tier comfy

>try to watch Perry Mason
>have already played Ace Attorney 1-5
>every time they get a confession while on the stand
ruined the show for me knowing the procedure.

Only the seasons with Sharona. Melanie (?) Is a really crappy replacement and the show in general suffers from flanderization

>that scene where people think monk is racist because he asked for a wipe when he shook a black guy's hand
kino

The mc struggles with OCD. It's a meta joke.

that's called racism and it's not good.

They fucking show you who commits the murder and how they do it in the first 25 minutes! How are people so stupid?

Oooh shit I remember that kek

Her name was Natalie, but yeah, Sharona is better.

It took me far longer than I care to admit to realize Peter Faulk had a fake eye.

there's a lot of dumb filler episodes but the overall presentation and full series plot is great. final season holds up as strongly as the first three seasons

The Brits usually have one or just several writers. In Murrica every series has a huge group or writers, that's why they manage to write 20+ episodes each year.

>monk
only a boomer would watch that garbage

IT'S A JUNGLE OUT DER
IT'S A JUNGLE OUT DER

I remember that quite often he'd only solve the case because of clues that were either real lucky or examples of ludicrous negligence on the part of the Guy, but maybe that's endemic for detective stories in general.

I also remember their dedication to putting the characters in mortal danger for the finale could involve some silliness, like handcuffed crims grabbing guns off of cops or convincing the current assistant to leave crowded public areas with them despite being unarmed.

The whole gimmick with the show is that the Main character is a detective with OCD.

>Jonathan Creek
It's like an idiot tried to write Sherlock Holmes styled mysteries

In fairness it's more like John Dickson Carr. The majority are locked room mysteries and you have more than enough clues to work things out on your own. Sherlock Holmes didn't really do as many of them as you would expect.

this. monk is probably my favorite live action show of all time, but I'm willing to admit that if you don't like the first season or hell even episode. you will never like the show. In my opinion, the show keeps its consistency throughout its whole run. to me, that meant top comfy show that I could watch any random episode and just have a blast. Also dang, everyone here is shitting on Natalie, she was a qt pie
