I've been rewatching Sopranos since New Year, one episode a day, last night I watched Blue Comet, tonight I'll watch Made In America, much better on rewatch, and I have to say the most scary thing about this show is how a main and important character like Chrissy geta dropped out so easily and basically forgotten by everybody else so fast.

I mean, Chrissy gets killed on the fourth-to-last episode. On that episode we find out almost nobody else actually cared about the guy, the guy that seemed sadder for his death was a fucking selfish psycho like Paulie! Then, on the second to last episode, nobody ever mentions Chrissy at all! It's lile he got erased, never existed. Even literal rats like Big Pussy got more attention after they died. Tony B's death had more of an impact on the characters. But nobody really cared about Chris.

Tony didn't hate the drugs because they threatened Chris's wellbeing, or even because they made him incompetant. He hated them because they competed with him for control over Chrissy.

I'm sort of floating around Soprano threads just to keep you all updating on a first time watcher's viewpoint is. Watched up to the episode where Meadow and Tony are in Maine looking at colleges. Every episode up until that one was great but this one was a slog. I didn't really care for Carmella and the creepy priest's sexual tension plot that overtook the episode. Lots of hypocrisy in that house on both sides too, I know that Tony has some russian or some sort of east slavic girl on the side and Carmella seems to be fine with/overlooks it(?) but Carmella is about to fuck a priest as revenge and Tony can't have a female therapist?

The most fitting end to his arc would be staying sober and leading Jersey to war? The entire point of his arc over six seasons is that Tony is a toxic influence who Chris can't escape from, so it's most fitting that Tony himself is the one who ends it for him.
