No shit. Is there anyone who prefers the theatrical?

my brother swears the theatrical cut of fellowship is the best version and best movie of the series period.

he's right
extended for tt and rotk are good, but fellowship just add pointless shit, theatrical is perfect

>Is there anyone who prefers the theatrical?

People with taste

Something you clearly don't have.

I prefer theatrical because they’re shorter. Extended Blu has better IQ though cause it’s directly from digital intermediate. Theatrical Blu is scan of an interpositive

Yes. The theatrical editions have much better pacing. The extended editions wreck the pacing in a number of key places - for example, Faramir/Eowyn's romance happening as Gondor and Rohan are marching on the Black Gate.

The long and short of it is that the extended editions are superfluous. There's very little that's added that's actually worth being put in there. Yes, a lot of it adds details from the book, but those details were cut from the theatrical edition in the first place because they're not a necessary part of the story and obliterate the pacing.

"Brevity is the soul of wit."

Have sex

The EE also came out on HD-DVD before it went defunct. You can still pirate them without the blue filter.

I'll have sex with you

I don't have eight hours to watch a movie, theatrical cuts out all the unnecessary garbage and makes them far more kino

Talk about Blu-Ray

Theatrical cuts out any real resolution with Saurman which is a huge flaw.

Not really. All that was really needed was Gandalf's, "He's not a threat anymore." line from the theatrical cut. Why would they kill him when he isn't a threat anymore, and only acted evil because of having been corrupted by Sauron? That line *was* the perfect resolution. Him getting impaled on a giant spike was the opposite of that, and it was the opposite of what should have happened.

return of the king theatrical is better than the extended

Wrong. The parts that were cut needed to be. They are very out of place.

The best part of that box set were the kino documentaries showing Weta Workshop and all the miniature sets.

I've actually never seen the theatrical cut

Ducking got em lmao fr fr I’m ded

If you like tonnes of cringy scenes that add nothing but make watching the films tedious then yeah

Based and redpilled, well done

I like the extended but i'm a lorefag

I saw them at the cinema at release, but have only watched the EE since, so I couldn't even tell you what the extra scenes are.

Why do the scenes added into the extended versions have a cheesier look to them? Kinda ruins it for me, tbqh.

Bakshi >>>>> Jackson

Post less

Confirmed

imagine being this pleb

Theatrical for the first couple watches, then extended when you're truly hungry for more. Don't watch extended the first time, the pacing is off and you won't like it.

The extended has that retarded scene in The Two Towers where Pippin and Mary go DUDE WEED LMAO.

Yes Extended is larger than Theatrical

How would a powerful dark wizard who still has his staff not continue to be a threat even in his tower?

Probably when you cut down a movie to fit into less time, you would often cut out the scenes that aren't as good such as cheesier scenes

>putting an overused Shakespeare quote at the end of your post

>not liking that scene
Confirmed pleb who probably raised a daughter

It's a Plinkett quote you retard

cringe

Is it normal that I was wiping away tears at the end of Return of the King?

Extremely normal

I still do every time, I know it's coming but it's just sad knowing the old gang we've been watching this whole time will never see each other again (plus Frodo's departure coming out of nowhere).

I too cry at the decision to cut the scouring, its understandable.

I wish that nice Extended Trilogy set came with the theatrical versions as well, would be cool to have something like pic related that comes with 4 or 5 different cuts (which for some reason they stopped printing and only have the final cut of BR available these days).

It's indicative of abnormally high levels of estrogen you may want to see a doctor

We need something similar for Star Wars. Basically three cuts:

>Theatrical being the original negatives to 4K
>Lucas' crazy clown world cuts
>A cut that adds in fixes and other restored scenes (More biggs, more Wampa, more Oola) but leaves out the stupid like changing the song in Jedi or all that extra scene clogging garbage at Mos Eisley

For some reason I have the box set trilogy of the 4 disk extend versions, the wide screen 2 disk trilogy ( just gave away the 2 disk full screen trilogy) the single disk blue ray trilogy and the Hobbit 1 and 2 blue ray and the hobbit 3 DVD

Yes.

Have they seriously not released a blu ray version without this shitty filter yet?

The whole series has too much crying.

Nope. Only reason I haven't bought them yet

>My friends, you bow to no one.
gets me more than almost anything in any movie desu

If you prefer the version where the witch king dominates Gandalf in a fight and then flies away for no reason instead of killing him, you are a pleb of epic proportions.

Which version is that

daily reminder that the Numenoreans are the greatest thing that ever happened to ME, and that the Rohirrim are gaynigger faggots who rape horses.

You're a fucking pleb
extended TTT and extended ROTK are trash

Fellowship extended is the only accepted extended

Fellowship extended - 10
TTT theatrical - 8
TTT extended - 7
ROTK theatrical - 7
ROTK extended - 6

>the pacing

Have sex you autist.

>witch king dominates Gandalf in a fight
this was gay
>and then flies away for no reason instead of killing him
but he flew away because rohan arrived

You're right it's full of cliche forced moments but fellowship was kino.

He's right you fucking /pol/ or Yea Forums monkey
the pacing of a movie is something important and the extended editions besides fellowship are even more bloated and meandering than the theatrical version

Why did they do this scene at the beginning of filming?

You can still find a woman after 30. Don't beat yourself up.

>still has his staff
>Wormtongue and perhaps a few orcs
Wouldn't count that as a huge threat

Unless you’re into LotR the theatrical is better. I love the extended editions but they’re fucking long.

Why the fucking fuck is the home media release always fucked with? Is it a decision on part of the director? Or is it some lowly technician that does this to justify their shitty position?
Why can't they just leave shit the way it was.

I legitimately think it was an accident for LotR (and only LotR), since it's ONLY the extended blu-ray and ONLY one movie of the bunch in addition

Why they haven't reissued it I have no fucking clue, it'd be free money
