The american "Ring" feels soulless. Too corporate? I dont know, there's something about it.n Maybe the most overrated horror movie of all time. Japanese Ring is cool though
The american "Ring" feels soulless. Too corporate? I dont know, there's something about it...
why does themain girl let Noah's gf go up and see him at the end? She sees her by the lift but doesnt try to stop her from going and seeing his corpse
it's one of few insistences american remake is better imo.
Your mom feels corporate and soulless bitch
>The american "Ring" feels soulless.
Thing is though, it really isnt. The director who worked on it did as a passion project more than corporate. And you can see this in the cinematography as well. It feels sombre and miserable which Ringu didnt feel like at all. I will agree with you on one thing though, the ending was shit and very underwhelming and a sequel didnt help either.
Kinda makes me think it was right then the corporates wouldve intervened to make it more """scary"""". But really up until the end it is undeniably beautiful and haunting and probably the ONLY remake to get it right. Gotta give credit where its due.
Like seriously most of the shots were fantastic. Felt like paintings. And the soundtrack was on point (except for the end).
>The american "Ring" feels soulless. Too corporate?
Why? Ringu isn't even a very good movie to begin with. It drops hard when it becomes a murder mystery with spooky dead girl.
>it's good cuz it's foreign
what didnt you like about the end
Right? And its clear the nips took notes from it. You can see it in Ju On. It feels A LOT like the Ring US.
It felt a bit rushed and I didnt particularly like the fact that they showed Samara's face. It took away from the mystery. It just felt wayy to Hollywood while the rest of the movie is a slow burn to the shock ending. If you know what I mean.
The Ring was a genuinely unnerving movie. It's horror done right but as many anons said it was let down a bit by the ending. The sequal was shite though.
It feels SO fucking long when you're watching it.
I used to be that fag thatd sperg out when anyone ever said that Asian horror not as good as the west. It honestly is a very shitty view to have. Like yeah they did a few good movies, but nothing that stood the test of time imo
no it doesnt and thats not an argument
This. I like the original, but I love the american one. Post more user.
It's the only horror movie to ever exist and you can't prove me wrong.
Its just better.
Also this scene was the most haunting and sad scene (for me at least). Just watching Samara sit there in her mental state talking about how her mother probably hates her. Ringu had no moments like this.
What do you think about the tape user?
I think the american one tries too hard. Dont stop it to scare the shit out of me when I was 10 years old.
It probably couldve been shorter and is little much. But at the same this is aimed at the yank audience in 2002 when subtly wasnt a thing in blockbusters.
Which is why I think the ending is loud to make up for the slow pace of the movie. But overall its not really noticeable.
why is it all so green? is it set in the matrix?
2002 bro. Everything was blue filter lol
Weirdly enough it actually works in this case.
I like both, the american one has lots of nostagia points though from seeing it with friends and being the only group of people laughing at the horse jumping off the ferry. Can we all agree I think we can all agree RIngs was absolute trash
Honestly man I cant find anything good about Ringu. It was the most boring shit Ive watched and Ive watched a good amount. It didnt capture my interest like say Ju-On(The Grudge).
But yeah everything after The Ring is shit no doubt. I still watched Rings for a laugh though.
I love all the shitty boomertech from that era that was metallic and had blue LEDs. the best part is the gadgets that just did one specific thing.
You need to make sadako cute and funny. Otherwise there's no point.
I dunno. 2002 really isnt THAT boomer. Also overall 2002 was pretty uneventful. I did like my Sony Minidisc though.
I liked Rings, I liked the professor and his students studying the tape
I think it can really be boiled down to the filter.
Never watched it. The girl makes your nose disappear?
Looks more squished in
