Surely movie buffs like you all would have picked up on the clues.

you could not pay me to sit and watch a movie like this. just seems so utterly pointless and plebian

If shamalamadingdong had made this movie everyone would be calling it shit. But they defend it because its made by a famous nigger that made some funny skits and they want to appear woke to their coworkers around the watercooler.

He’s not though.

that doesn't make any fucking sense though, why would the burnt faced one act like a feral animal and be able to/willing to coordinate with the clones? i think that that was the point of the final scene were they stare at each other knowingly, but it's not just a stretch of logic, it makes literally 0% sense. And by the way that final twist was terrible, completely and utterly unnecessary. It didn't add anything to the movie.

What was the twist?

How did it not add anything to the movie? The movie would make no sense without it.

How long did it take you to figure out everytime the kid's magic trick lighter didn't work he was getting burned every time

>knows how to snap even though the “real” one doesn’t
>physically recoils when the truck lighter goes off
>everybody notes the “real” one’s change in behavior, including making the same mistake he made last year despite it being traumatic and the little things like not knowing where the bat is

this

everytime the kid's lighter didnt go off and he held it to his face inspecting it the real one was holding a match to his own face burning it off.

really fucky.

The mom was a clone all along.

When the original girl was a kid and she ran into her dopple at the mirror house, the dopple kicked her ass and swapped spots with her. And nobody noticed a normal little girl was replaced with what was basically a wild animal.

And the original girl, now insane, dies with her clone family.

that was just the kid being a spastic wierdo though.
clones dont know how to talk. Kid could talk just fine.
even if he did replace the kid there was only like a year where the kid would have had to learn to talk or otherwise remain silent.

J Peele just had shitty writing

that's pretty clever ngl

Lupita planned the swap and taught him to talk herself before doing it.

Lupita's clone switched places with her as a child and the 'evil' clone is the original. The doppleganger explains the entire plot to Lupita as if they really were the clone, i guess she forgot she wasn't a clone.

That doesn't answer the bigger question of how/why he worked with the clones, or why he couldn't talk and the 'clone' could, when no other clones could talk. Look, i'm not the kind of guy to even point out ''''plot holes'''' or anything, but it's like the movie is telling me one thing when my brain knows it's bullshit

They waaaaay under explained the government conspiracy part

oh fuck off.

and then what. she spent a year erasing the real Jason's memory and teaching him to communicate with clicks?

Meh, I don’t think a huge monologue about it would have added anything to the film. We understood enough about it to know how it directly affected the cast’s predicament. It didn’t really need the extra worldbuilding beyond that for the kind of film it is.

Because it's the least believable part.

well we already got the monologue kek

i would have just liked if they showed that it only occured in Santa Cruz

>I don’t think a huge monologue about it would have added anything
Or you do it in a clever way like Get Out

Yeah the cloning facility made no fucking sense, since it seemed limited in space and there is thousands of clones that are shown at the end despite only being a short hallway and some rooms. Who were feeding the clones? How were there no handlers or workers? Why leave the gap between the lab and the regular side completely unguarded?

Didn’t Red say Pluto was “born of fire” or something?

>it seemed limited in space and there is thousands of clones that are shown at the end despite only being a short hallway and some rooms
The movie started with a explanation that the US is covered in underground tunnels

the point is the idea that there self sufficient clones living for decades down there despite copying all the actions of their counterparts which means eating invisible food and never taking the initiative to adapt to their environment

i'm willing to suspend my disbelief but they should have confined the location to Santa Cruz

My chimp brain thought it was a stretch to connect the plot of the movie to the Underground Railroad.
Out of all the questions the clones raise it makes zero sense how her family she raised inside the facility is an exact replicate of her real life counterpart

Movie makes even less sense becuse of it

The only "real" one was the mom, because she's able to speak while none of the others could

I hated this stupid movie, but they did at least explain that the clones were eating the rabbits, and rabbits reproduce fast enough for this to be basically an infinite food supply. Now, were the rabbits eating other rabbits also? Who knows. Can people survive off of nothing but rabbit meat? Probably not.

They're both hybrids which is why they're both pretty autistic. Each one has a real human parent and a doppleganger parent.

Problem is that the film explained some things about the doppelgangers, but that just raised further questions.
How much free will do they have? How was the girl at the start able to enter the topside? Where do they get resources for clothes? Where do they put their waste?

They shouldn't have told us that much about it. Let the audience know that we've all got doppelgangers living underground, feeding on cold rabbitmeat. Say that nobody knows where they come from. Keep it more vague and mystical.
As soon as you explain 10% of what's going on, people start wondering about the remaining 90%.

the idea they're surviving off of rabbits is retarded

really, it is, absolutely, fucking, retarded

there wouldn't be enough rabbits to feed hundreds of millions of whatever they are, and they would be tremendously unhealthy, too weak to do anything, probably zapped by parasites and disease

this is the biggest overrated pile of shit of the decade

>and then what. she spent a year erasing the real Jason's memory and teaching him to communicate with clicks?

Yeah. Haven't you seen Blood Diamond or Beasts of No Nation? Brainwashed child soldiers.

>under explained
If anything its over explained. The fact that there are doubles of apparently everyone in the US makes no sense and it almost ruins the movie
>apparently US government made clones of the entire countries
>like literally every single person
>these people somehow survived for 30 years underground in labs and subway tunnels and apparently ate raw rabbit meat the entire
>these clones are apparently also mating and having the exact same number of children as the people top side
>these children are also clone copies of top side kids despite apparently being natural births and not genetically engineered
>apparently you can just walk in and out of the underground lab
>after being switched, the main character never once tries to leave and apparently just stays down with everyone else for 30 years
>armed forces and police departments apparently can't contain a bunch of people wielding scissors

Not even for $1000?

and what would the rabbits eat anyways

peele definitely needed somebody to double check his script on this one

all the pieces are there, i really like it in some ways but there's a lot of shit that just pulls the rug out from underneath the good elements

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protein_poisoning

the Trichinellosis would be worse

i agree completely. they should have explained less, not more. kept it small scale, not the entire US. and yeah i would have liked for there to be a scene with a gun, i feel like that could have been really tense. i also feel like they didn't need to make the invasion so... succesful. like everyone absolutely ate shit, and there were corpses akwardly everywhere but placed sparsely around the streets. idk these seem like 'auteur weaknesses' to me. problems that arise when you have 1 person behind everything where noone dare question them or double check their work. teamwork makes the dream work. am i sensing a reunion?

Attached: i got fiiiive on it.jpg (970x546, 83K)

The experiment failed because the clones mimicked, instead of controlling. The clones could not be used to control the population.

The trailer. The bunnys in the background meant cloning. Didnt even need to see the movie to get the “twist”

the bunnies were completely unrelated to the cloning. the bunnies were a food supply

WHY IS Yea Forums TALKING ABOUT THIS FILM LIKE IT'S A REAL MOVIE. Holy fucking shit, I thought I could come here for a little sanity, but apparently I'm in the Bizarro World. This movie was a complete jumbled mess. It's just nonsense and hackneyed writing.

The "twist" or at least the explanation reminds me so badly of a Shyamalan movie that it scares me. If Peele let's Get Out and this movies success go to his head, he's done. I really really hope this turn into a George Lucas situation where people keep telling him he's a genius and his movies become even worse disjointed messes

The plot of this movie is really fucking sloppy and its clear he didn't have much outside input for it. He had all the pieces there but he went full retard with explaining too much.

How did he get the burns then, why is he fucking feral?

Some things line up, sure. But the burns sure as hell don't.

The kid does a lighter trick and sometimes the lighter didn't work and he held it up to his face to inspect it. The clone's lighter did work, and he was holding a lit flame to his face.
