Everybody says that the Principal and the Pauper is the start of the Simpsons decline, but for me pic related is the point where Simpsons start to get shitty. There was some good episodes after this but not too many...
What is your point of no return in the Simpsons series?
"Behind the laughter" season finale . Decent way to end the series

Simpsons was never funny

>Seasons 2-8 are golden era Simpsons >No, S7 is shit >Actually, up to S10 there are great episodes >in which season Simpsons started going downhill? It's all so tiresome. Yet you people have gall to complain about sneed.

The part where the brain eating jockeys dump homer out that hidden wall and homers all like "omg, did that really happen?" Was creepy as fk
I'd rather have early 00's Simpsons over today's Simpsons, because at the very least they made boob jokes. >Large Marge >Xena going "Must take off breast plate." >"The Catholic church, we've made a few...changes."
Thomas Moore
I remember I didn't see this episode until I got the box set as a gift one year. I guess they never showed it on TV. It's a really weird episode, it doesn't even feel like The Simpsons, it feels more like something you'd see in Family Guy or Futurama.
The Simpsons went to shot when John Swartz welder stopped writing.
>He worked onThe Simpsonsas a writer and producer until 2003, and later contributed toThe Simpsons Movie. He is credited with writing thelargest numberofSimpsonsepisodes (59 full episodes, with contributions to several others) by a large margin.
>Swartzwelder is revered among comedy fans; his colleagues have called him among the best comedy writers. He is famously averse to press.
>Swartzwelder has been referred to as a staunch libertarian, as well as a "hard-core conservative." He is reported to be a gun rights advocate, and despite having written many of the environmentally driven episodes, he has been described as an "anti-environmentalist".
>According to Matt Groening, Swartzwelder used to write Simpsons episodes while sitting in a booth at a coffee shop "drinking copious amounts of coffee and smoking endless cigarettes". When California passed an anti-smoking law, Swartzwelder bought the diner booth and installed it in his house, allowing him to continue his process in peace.
>By 1994, with the show's sixth season, Swartzwelder was granted a special dispensation and allowed not to attend rewrite sessions with the rest of the staff, instead being allowed to send drafts of his scripts in from home so other writers could revise them as they saw fit. This was a direct result of Swartzwelder's avid smoking coming into conflict with a newly implemented policy banning smoking in the writers' room. Swartzwelder's scripts typically needed minimal rewriting compared to those of other writers, with about 50% being used.
Lucas Anderson
>john Swartzwelder >best comedy writer >had done nothing after The Simpsons and The Simpsons movie, prior that working on SNL from 85 to 86 and a short comedy called Pistol Pete
what the fuck, why nobody give him work? >Swartzwelder has been referred to as a staunch libertarian, as well as a "hard-core conservative." He is reported to be a gun rights advocate, and despite having written many of the environmentally driven episodes, he has been described as an "anti-environmentalist". oh
> David Cohen once related a story of Swartzwelder going on an extended diatribe about how there is more rain forest on Earth now than there was a hundred years ago yes, he is. I bet he post in Yea Forums too.

seems like a cool guy he looks exactly like you would think too
Noah Williams
Wouldn't be surprised if the Ron Swanson character was in part based on him.
why even make simpsons threads if you know its going to devolve into sneed posting unless... the sneeds are in charge of the thread creations

Greg Daniels worked on The Simpsons during the 90s, so you are into something, yes.

I don't know why but something about Bart x Lisa incest really appeals to me. It's such a shame that artists who can and want to draw on-model bart and lisa porn are extremely rare. Does anyone feel the same way?
Somewhere around season 15. It was mediocere around there. It was still watchable for a while. It only became unwatchable later.
Samuel Phillips
Season 1 had problems, but was charming Season 2 the show started hitting its stride I'd say seasons 3-6 are basically perfect. Season 7 was great, but some bad habits started appearing, such as the bart shoplifting episode and Homerpalooza (even though these episodes had great jokes, the former was too sentimental and preachy while the latter started the terrible habit of the Simpsons relying on guest voices) Season 8 was good, but again, some episodes were not, which up until this point was extremely rare. I'd say s8 marks the end of golden era Simpsons. From 9 onwards it was just a steady decline into eventually becoming complete shit.
