Why is this flick so underrated?

Why is this flick so underrated?

who cares about feature lenght videogame cutscenes

It was too deep for most plebs.

What makes it underrated?

>Oh no im so ugly im a solid 9/10 but have a birth mark

A girl like that is my goal. Someone so beyond blind of their own beauty because of some irrelevant little "flaw" that in reality makes the girl only that more special.

That's the only way I can ever get a truly beautiful girl. Though I first have to start leaving my room lmao

0 character. It was so about references and work of others that there is nothing personal about protagonist. Do you remember any of his catch phrases that are not referring to something?

- classic old-school adventure in interesting setting
- gorgeously shot, the intro race sequence is a master class in making action scenes
- decent cgi, far better than in any recent capeshit
- subtle, not on the nose pop culture references (which automatically makes the movie better than the book)
- The Shining scene

>Do you remember any of his catch phrases
"She could actually be a 300lbs dude living in his momma's basement in suburban Detroit. And his name is Chuck"

>Do you remember any of his catch phrases that are not referring to something?
First to the key ! First to the egg !

Don't know, never bothered watching it since I already read the book.

Serious answer: massive anti-marketing campaign by Disney shills. You probably remember suspiciously regular "oh no no no no no" and "soi: the movie" threads here that had started half a year before release.

7 movies out of 10 are made after a book user.

It's fucking awesome, shoulda taken place 100% in the oasis

I enjoyed the movie until the generic 'two cgi armies charge at each other' endbattle.
everything else was pure kino, especially the actionscene where the girl fights with a pulserifle in one and a lawgiver in the other hand.

Yeah realize they don't exist?
Girls that that are fully aware how attractive they are, they only bitch about their "flaw" for attention.

*touching Parzival's crotch" Did you come prepared?

soiboi detected

Because the book it was based on wasn’t that good, and video game movies tend to suck. Great film, though VR still a retarded meme.

This movie was so shitty I turned it off halfway through and I watch bad movies ironically.

Now i know youre trolling

present any evidence to the contrary

Because it very subtly throws shade on Disney and “critics” can’t have that.

“It’s not about winning. It’s about playing.”

Big evil corporation is a very common trope, come on.

it's a shit film. I made it about 10 minutes into the bayformers tier cgi shitfest racing part and then some 'le girl gaymer XD' shows up talking about
>DUDE POP CULTURE REFERENCES
and just assumed that's what the film would be about for 2 hours. I also immediately guessed his macho big guy buddy was gonna be a mutt girl because current year I guess.
into the zoomer cinema trash it goes along with Polar.

>you sound fun at parties grandpa:^), turn your brain off :) have sex ;)
it's all so fucking tiresome. sneed.

>DUDE FAVOURITE GOLDENEYE LEVEL!!!???
US GAYMERS AMIRITE!? the movie

See and this is why you go for girls with genuinely fucked up features/bad genetics but whomst are still fuckable to a degree

One man's trash is another man's treasure as they say heh

Yeah, but this one is mocking them for something they’re literally doing as we speak.

>DUDE, FAN-SERVICE LMAO - THE FILM

Elaborate. Devouring competitors and playing extra dirty on their way to hegemony?

is this shit scored anything above 0.0, it's OVERrated

Yes. And when Ogden talks about Sorrento, he’s not talking about Sorrento.

>You know who that is?
>Is that Sorrento?!
>Sorrento started as an intern. He claims he learnt at the feet of the master. That's how he convinced the IOI to create the Sixers for him - his Halliday knowledge. But ask Ogden Morrow... He says the only thing Sorrento actually knew about Halliday...was how he liked his coffee.

Oh I get it. Very interesting, considering it's coming from Spielberg.

Indeed. From what I understand, none of this is present in the novel. Spielberg appears to have worked in a message about imaginary “worlds” being better off in the hands of people who are passionate about them. Notice whose avatar Sorrento wears in Oasis. IOI already owns *those* characters, too.

>that dance scene where Artemis grinds all over him knowing he's wearing a full body suit

god what a slut

It was better then the book, the author is one of the worst writers i've ever read.

me and my friends just ripped on this movie the whole showing. at one point we just started autistically yelling out things we recognized

Speilberg did manage to sneak in few SW references. Millenium Falcon, R2D2, maybe more, I don't remember.

oxygenfu

Artemis is shit, he should have hooked up with the fat black dyke instead.

>Subtle pop culture references
I agree with everything but this. Cmon man that is not even in the realm of reasonable claims. The thing that kills this movie is the cringey dialogue, and a big part of that is the constant pop culture references. I get what they were trying to do but they tried to hard and it comes off as incredibly forced and awkward.

It was pretty realistic to me. For five hundred billion dollars, man I'd watch every John Hugues and play every Atari game and I'd talk about it all day long.

So part of it was the fact that they had to keep reusing references, I guess because they could only get the rights to so many. For example, there are batman stickers everywhere. I get that the game is the internet, and therefore filled with memes and references, but no one like John Hughes movies that much. Of all the things they could reference constantly they choose the Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller? Anway the problem isn't with the concept it's the execution. Bad writing.

Came here to post this. that was so fucking retarded, what were they thinking?

Do you really think they should've cast an ugly girl? If yes, who?

>reddit player one

>but no one like John Hughes movies that much.
Apparently the creator of the Oasis did. I agree that it's a niche reference and most people won't get it, but I'm glad they didn't pick Hunger Games or some shit like that (which would have been more in accordance with the age of the creator).

Sophie Lillis

It's not niche, those movies are well-known. They just aren't that interesting.

>formally Sneed

even worse

The best to hope for would be cast a cute actress, but make the mark itself uglier. At least more visible and distracting.

This reminded me of the Mortal Engines disaster.
