It's already been renewed for season 3.
Why did Paramount run such a franchise into the ground.
Star Wars I understand, it's fucking Disney, but this?
Fake news
I don't know, but I can confirm that it's unwatchable shit. No one will consider it canon in ten years (no one does now).
Its legally not. Bad Robot, who make it, are operating under a special license that requires it to not be canon at 25% different from all existing Trek.
That explains why the Klingons look retarded.
That's just because their makeup department is uniformly awful.
Saru's makeup is decent , I'll give them that alone.
>still no post-VOY series yet
jdimsa
It's coming at the end of the year, user. But it'll be about how Picard was always an evil white male who needs to learn to be diverse. They just cast a twink from Melbourne as a Romulan.
They feel mainstream audiences/viewers want forced diversity and to be repeatedly lectured/drilled on current progressive thinking instead of just being entertained by the old star trek formula which already incorporated plenty of political ideology/notions without ever feeling forced.
I stopped watching the moment I realised our main cast would be a (strong) black female, a gay engineer and his swishy boyfriend, an autistic fat feminist and an Evil White Male TM. What a shit show.
>But it'll be about how Picard was always an evil white male who needs undergo a penectomy and lifelong hrt to be diverse.
Fixed that for you.
Thanks bro, the keys are right next to each other.
He's going to go on an odyssey into the stars where he will find dazzling new worlds which he will save from white supremacy
They should have made an original show with its own canon not called Star Trek.
"I'll make up some numbers so people thing I'm smart and informed". The Post.
>ok guys we want to make it really clear our main character is a black woman
>let's make her head huge, like 5 times bigger than everyone
all these fucking movie posters lately look the same
youtube.com
Everything explained in there, but the tl;dr version is what I posted. It's been confirmed by John Eaves, who designed the Enterprise-E, and Robert Meyer Burnett, who was heavily involved in Trek and TNG.
But then we wouldn't know the story of Spock's black daughter, Michael.
That's her royal highness the Red Angel, savior of all life in the known universe and a strong black woman to boot for you!
>Mfw this is unironically canon now
It's worse than that user, she's his sister who Sarek loved more and who was way smarter than Spock in every respect, even getting a spot in the Vulcan Science Academy over him
What really gets me is that ENT had a God tier season three and four, then it got canceled. Meanwhile, this nauseating tripe that no one is watching gets a season three.
That's revisionist history user, ENT had a glorious S1 and S2, middling S3 and S4 was pretty bad.
>yfw this is unironically canon now
Nah, I don't think anyone will be calling it canon in the coming years. The whole thing is ridiculous, the Klingons totally changed, teleportation is suddenly a thing and it's a show about a perpetually angry Vulcan (??) black female named Mike.
Burnham is one of the worst characters ever written.
>teleportation is suddenly a thing
This is the most egregious thing.
It makes all of Voyager pointless. Makes the crew seem inept.
I agree, it's unheard of in Star Trek to have the crew disappear from one place and reappear in another. Just unbelievable mental hurdles have to be overcome to get around this. Shit writing.
Durrr so funny. But if the ships could fold space then numerous major TNG episodes (the Borg comes to mind) and all of Voyager no longer makes any sense.
Why even try to appeal to nostalgiafags with characters like Harry Mudd if you're just going to shit all over everything else? They reference one previously established thing and then segue right into obliterating another. Why bother? Are they trying to be insulting?
underrated post. STD confirmed 75% creature Star Trek. Fags btfo. Cancellation imminence confirmed.
I don't know, it seems entirely based on one comment John Eaves made. Burnett is a guy who got burned by Paramount/CBS, he was working on a pitch for a show called Star Trek Federation but JJ got the Trek deal before he could even make the pitch. Beyond that all he's done is produce some behind the scenes interviews on the TNG blu rays. Not really the most reliable sources of info.
I think it's fine to hate STD, but there's no need to invent reasons to not watch it. Just don't watch it.
unironically, it's generally regarded by the STD-realist community that the "25%" figure is merely an educated guess based on Eaves' comments. It is unknown what the definite figure is, or if it's not more complicated a deal. The point that STD and JJ nuTrek films are legally required to be significantly different from actual canon Star Trek is literally and unironically a fact, though. Don't let STD shills deflect from the basic truth of STD's fraudulence with their weak cope.
I like the second season a lot more than the first, which is admittedly a low bar. Just kill off/lighten up on Burnham, keep Pike as Captain, fling the ship into the future post Voy and baby you got a stew going.
You know they're bringing Data and the Doctor back as well. Both are now gender fluid trans demisexual PoCs who look nothing like their previous actors.
>fling the ship into the future
STD isn't worth shitting up the timeline more than it already has. Just end it and start fresh post-Voyager so we can start pretending it never happened.
But STD literally isn't made by Bad Robot, so its deal would be different to JJTrek produced for Paramount. Is it is just easier to accept it's a poorly thought out visual refresh that is meant to be within continuity with the other series - just poorly done?
>cancellation immanent
startrek.com
>guise I'm literally SHAKING right now
They need to bring in some eye candy, like seven of nine. and more pike-centric episodes because women's storylines are always boring. and a lot less michael burnham. think like geordi leforge in tng. thats how much burnham we should be getting. ok, done, i fixed it. order 5 more seasons
we don't know what the specifics of the deal are. The evidence is that it's a crypto- Bad Robot production ("Secret Hideout"), judging by the number of Bad Robot people the came over. They've changed too much across the board - not just visually - but tonally as well - for it to be a mere ENT -tier refresh within the rest of Trek.
problematic
Honestly this sounds a lot like leftists asking about all the details of the Mueller report and speculating and adding their own bias to it.
I wonder if this show would be watchable if it had a different MC. Among all the problems with the show, she has to be the worst.
I was worried from the outset that she'd just be a shitty diversity pick for the lead, but after watching I found Michael's character so unlikable that it hardly even matters anymore. It's not good when I never want to root for the main character or see them succeed. There's virtually nothing redeeming about her. Only a couple of the side characters even felt remotely decent. I think the Asian chick was one of the only ones I liked, and then they fucked killed her off immediately.
except that STD-truthers freely admit that they may be wrong about the specifics, and they're only sure about the one thing that is indisputable: that STD is not canon Star Trek. Leftists are "sure" about a lot of things that are merely assumptions.
It wouldn't be half as bad if it wasn't pretending to be Star Trek.
>Legally
>Canon
Are you retarded?
CBS shill, please
They're clearly trying to pull in both directions but fucking it up at every turn. They haven't stuck with the woke production though just the shiny cgi stuff for retards.
I don't know they give that Micheal guy pretty convincing acne scars.
You know it's bad when the lore of the video game is actually better than this shit.
I figure they were going for the secret ash reveal but his head is already alien shaped so they just rolled with it and thats why they're extra ugly.
Do you really think canon is legally settled?
Are you really that stupid?
do you really think anyone who really cares about Star Trek and isn't a dishonest shill or a defeated numale is ever going to accept STD as real Star Trek? Are you really that stupid?
It's just okay. If you are not nu/pol/ and force politics into everything you can see that.
>inb4 they force politics into it!!!!!!!!! reee
He’s right. People who admit to liking the show are either paid shills or liars. TrekBBs is full of them, so is Twitter
>stop liking what I don't like.tiff
How much do they pay you exactly?
1$ per post with more than 1 response. Rates went up since I was highly successful in shilling the Orville here.
I actually like this show except for Michael. Her stupid nervous/angry almost-crying/laughing expressions are un watchable
The show is God awful terrible but I hate republicans so I have to watch it. You know the greater good and all? Heh.
Shill here. This desu. I have no idea why they decided to change from the crew formula. I even like the gay albino.
Urinonically this is the theme of every positive review
0.50 spacebux per generic post, 1 spacebux if it's defending Michael, 2 if tilliposting.
So you basically live in a magic world where if star trek goes full retard some imaginary lawyers appear to support your opinion so you can feel ok with it.
My god how embarrassing.
STD is not actual canon Star Trek. This is indisputable fact, seether.
so what's the latest coping fantasy from YOUTUBE INSIDERS since it got renewed for season 3 after saying it was 100% cancelled.
Unlike most of /poltv/ I have no problem with a diverse cast but the woman playing Michael Burnham can't act at all and it's really hard to watch when every fucking plot revolves around her saving the day. I gave it a second chance in season 2 but come on this writing is just unbearable.
I'm a typical fag who watches every sci fi / fantasy show in existence but I just can't stomach this anymore. The Bortis sex life episodes of The Orville are better than this for fuck's sake.
they never said that.
One more season and it's over.
Doomcock did. He’s also now said it’s not really renewed and season 3 is actually just short treks.
At least season 2 started off better than season 1. As soon as the main focus was on the red angel plot it declined again though.
>Spock tells her not everything is about her
>Moments later, it's revealed EVERYTHING is about her
Fuck this series.
sure they didn't.
To offer a more balanced opinion on this shit
Good
>Pike is good in general, even if he needs to stand up for himself more
>Lorca was also good, as a Jellico-style captain before he became the Evil White Guy
>Doug Jones basically doing Abe Sapien on Star Trek is a good idea and he’s fine
>Dwight doesn’t evoke Mudd at all in his peformance but he is enjoyable
>Dyke engineer who looks like LinusTechTips isn’t bad and kind of McCoyish in spirit
>I don’t even mind the actor they got for Spock as a younger, Cage-era version
Bad
>Michael ruins the show
>And everything is about Michael
>Breaks canon because the showrunners are incompetent
>Gay couple are even more shoved down your throat than the ones on Orville and that’s an accomplishment
>Magic spore drive and time crystals
>Fast pacing at the expense of good storytelling
>Just, no real thought put into any issue they bring up
>Michael
>Klingons look like snails
>Spock shouldn’t be on this show
Was there never a viewership per episode section on wikipedia or did the cucks remove it out of embarrassment? I remember it being half of the orville for s1 or so, curious about how much further season 2 sank.
who the fuck pays attention to a guy named "Doomcuck" with a gay mask and a retarded fake voice that he can't keep up with for more than 2 minutes during a live stream?
ME speculates about a lot of shit, as does everyone, including most of the faggots here. They never pretended to have definitive insider knowledge about specifics like cancellation. If you took it that way, that's your own gullible fault.
>People don't want boring science movies! They want epic action movies!
>Star Trek Into Darkness - 467.4 million USD
>The Martian - 630.2 million USD
>boring science movie
>the martian
umm sweety the martian isn't boring and sciency, it's an award winning comedy.
>ME Makes multiple videos before the show has even come out saying it’ll be a disaster because of completely fabricated ‘rumors’ like a trans dimensional Sarek
“They’re just speculating guys!”
>ME makes videos explaining the “rumors” behind Netflix’s rejection of STD’s Short Treks, when they go up on there anyway
“Geez guys, they were just speculating anyway, and they must have been right until Netflix changed their mind!”
>ME makes numerous videos of ‘rumors’ that the rights to STD make it non-canon and legally 25% different
“They’re just speculating!”
No, they’re making up whatever they want, but because it plays to what YOU want, everyone treats it as fact and before long everyone is repeating their ‘reporting’. They’re parasites on fan communities, nothing more. And don’t get me wrong, I HATE STD and TLJ and other things they shit on, but they are genuinely worse than ain’t it cool news was back in the day. At least Harry got a couple of scoops.
I'm guessing the shows gimmick is going to be a new captain every series?
seeing this type of video getting shilled makes me wish I'd got on the clickbait train early, you just pull shit out your ass and autists give you free money because it's what they want to hear, regardless of the facts.
It is mostly because none of the main charterers really do any mistakes. They always seem to be right about everything.
>show brings back Captain Pike for a season
>considered the high point of the whole thing
>show brings back Section 31
>considered an absolutely shit show
>let's make an edgy Section 31 spin off, this isn't your Grandpa's Star Trek!
no fuck you, pike is immortal nothing bad is going to happen to him.
>ME says STD will be a disaster
it was
>ME says nobody wanted Short Treks
nobody did. they practically gave it away
>ME says STD is non-canon and it's required to be visually and tonally different
all evidence points to it being non-canon and intentionally distinct in visuals and tone.
You're trying to poke holes in small details to ignore the overall point - that the shitty STD show you're shilling for is fake Star Trek and nobody likes it but gay contrarians and reddit-tier beta bitches.
All signs point to him leaving at the end of this season, likely to return to the enterprise.
>nu-male Spock
STD isn't canon.
underrated post
>“Michelle .. energized the room with her ferocious knowledge of Trek,” Kurtzman said. “Her grasp of character and story detail, .. Michelle and I are officially running Star Trek: Discovery.”
That´s the MOST insulting marketing speak I´ve encountered in quite some time.
WHAT the fuck is FEROCIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF TREK even supposed to mean?
Kurzman, you´re doing a fucking show called Star Trek you damn Kike.
That´s the fucking knowledge you´re SUPPOSED to have!
Also bringing an even older roastie on the show will REALLY help ratings.
Fuck, the damn SJWs cannot even get sex baiting right.
THIS is how you do it!
Bitch if ya cannot do irony then go back to the kitchen and start ironing.
God yes, (((they))) literally are thinking we´re too stupid to not notice the incessant copy-pasta.
How do we stop him?
all grow'd up
Watching it now, so far so good. Thanks for the tip user.
See ya in an hour.
>>S-surely it'll be cancelled r-right
Begone
canon: TOS, TOS movies, TNG, DS9
fuck off: everything else
It's going to be canceled since it's a terrible concept and implementation. They're just obviously not going to do it until they have something to replace it with. They have a long way to go before they can recoup their "investment" in nuTrek and the actual cost of this shitshow was most likely amortized across god knows how many seasons of Star Trek. They may be committed to making 10 seasons of -some kind of Star Trek- in order to pay for the actual cost the whole operation. Netflix didn't pay for all of it.
In truth, there is likely zero chance of real, authentic, canon Star Trek coming back until a Viacom re-merger happens.
>Anson Mount
The poor fuck.
>Let's make a patchwork of bad sjw memes and call it a ST series!
>Yeah, that'll work!
Fucking morons.
This is about the RIGHTS!
It depicts why everything is such a shitshow right now.
Watch this
Now, I finally understand.
tl;dr RIP real Trek, it was the Jews.
womp womp, the thread.
Yeah, looks like it´s sliding.
Pity, good info here.
>They need to bring in some eye candy,
They just need to make the redhead pilot the main character and make her allergic to clothes.
Just look at shit like Jim Sterling, he literally just reads reddit posts with graphics and makes millions.
>>Pike is good in general, even if he needs to stand up for himself more
Pike is gone after this series, apparently he punched the shit out of one of the directors.
>Meanwhile, with production on Season 2 of Discovery now wrapped in Toronto, Mount was involved in an on-set physical altercation in August last year with a director while filming an episode.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a discussion of a scene, and Mount gesticulating and pointing, which was the action of the scene in question. In acting out that scene before the cameras were turned on, the actor’s hands made physical contact with the director.
Damn, David Baddiel looks like THAT?
Red Angel wasn't bad until it was revealed that it's just fucking Michael
It's her mum.
I think a lot of criticism of the show boils down to if you like the Michael Burnham character or not. In itself, it's a loaded question, because as far as I can tell she doesn't have a character at all. She is more like a placeholder; a sort of Generic Main Character who they hoped that someone could eventually write an interesting or original backstory for.
Michael Burnham is somewhat comparable to Rey in Star Wars. He backstory might be this or that or the other, her importance to the story might be eventually be this or that or the other, but right now - in the present, on the screen - she's incredibly boring and unengaging. I notice that with Season 2, she is getting significantly less screen time than Season 1. In the episode where Saru saves his people, she's barely in it. Coincidentally, it's one of the better episodes.
TL; DR: Burnham is boring and they need to let some of the more interesting side characters step up and do their thing. Star Trek was never a one-man show. Even snivelling underling Barclay once got an episode about himself.
>Be Based
>Punch sniveling Jew production staff
I want to eat burnham's ass and there's nothing you can do about it
It's so weird to see /pol/ faggots trying to pretend Star Trek wasn't always liberal socialist propaganda.

what did Alex Kurtzman mean by this?
Also, the season is almost over (how many more episodes, like 4 or so?) - can anyone explain to me what the point of having nuNumber One was? She showed up for 2 minutes and ate a burger, there's no hints that she's going to show up again or if she does, what was the point of introducing her for a brief moment when you could just have her show up later and actually give her something to do (and screentime).
The more you gnash and claw the more other people (not Yea Forums/reddit) will flock to nutrek.
what happened guys I thought Pike Bohanan saved star trek?
He got fired for punching a producer
Jim, did I ever tell you about Michael Burnham's mom? She was an astrophysicist and engineer who invented the time suit for Section 31. Did I ever tell you about Section 31, Jim? But of course, I don't need to, we all know about it perfectly well already. Burnham's mom had the suit almost completed, but crucially needed the time crystal to make it functional. The head of Section 31 managed to procure the time crystal and send it to the research base. However, by a stroke of misfortune, the klingons traced the time crystal to the base and killed Michael Burnham's mom. Later Michael was most enraged to learn of this from the head of Section 31, whom she blamed for this mistake as if he had intentionally killed her mom himself. It was quite an illogically violent reaction from her, and most unbecoming of the way she was raised on Vulcan, but if not our logic perhaps some of our Vulcan strength was imbued in her, for she knocked him sprawling and left him bloodied. At any rate, Burnham's mom apparently had just enough time to assemble the suit and use it to vandalize the timeline, making many appearances in disparate locations decades later, always coming to save her daughter but showing notably little interest in anyone else's well-being. Now of course Section 31 knew that the time suit was their invention, though they kept that knowledge a secret, even framing me for murder and trying to extract my brain, and they eventually managed to retrieve the suit by way of a convoluted trap. Burnham, as the bait, would be killed. Though she couldn't be killed anywhere or by any means. It had to be at Essof IV, and only by means of suffocation in the planet's atmosphere. I made sure that she choked to death with her face melting off, pulling a phaser at anyone who tried to save her. I could have just shot her, but I must admit I wanted to see her suffer. But enough about that Jim, I wish you a cordial birthday. You are an effective commander, and an amicable colleague.
>apparently he punched the shit out of one of the directors
I wouldn't mind a side serving of sauce with this.
Isn't generic main character a good description of NPCs? What if this is being done intentionally (see your Rey example), this *actually sells*, and we are doomed to live with it?
The point was to earn free nostalgia points.
wait what? did that all happen? I dropped the STD turd long ago and only come here to laugh at the people that still watch it.
> To offer a more balanced opinion on this shit
Another thing I've noticed with STD which is sorta salvaging things is that they basically seem to be acknowledging that the STD-verse is not the same as the 1969-2005 universe. Like when Burnham straight up says "It appears this person is attempting to change the outcome of our current timeline", especially since apparently she was supposed to be dead but the Red Angel saved her life and thus changed the timeline.
In other words, the reason why Spock never brought up his adopted sister is because she died after only a few months of living with him. He basically never gave a fuck about her after that.
It's the same thing that's wrong with the Abrams movies. It's one of the most recognizable IPs, so they figure they can just slap a high production value on it, spend a billion dollars to get the lens flair and CGI just right, costuming, makeup, all made to look incredible, the best writers money can buy, and surely they'll make huge profits. But they just don't get the spirit of the IP. Trek is meant to be comfy, a little campy, idealistic, and adventurous. It's meant to speak to the part of the human mind that is innately an explorer, the part of us that wants to travel and see new things and meet new people so that we can learn about them, and also learn about ourselves. If that sounds cheesy, good. It's meant to be a little bit cheesy! New Trek is just soulless. They got a big budget, they got actors that can scowl appropriately and look incredibly serious, but they don't understand the spirit of Trek. No matter how much money they throw at the problem, they will never make a real Trek until they bring in writers that get what Trek actually is.
Apparently it's not Paramount's fault. IIRC:
* Star Trek is owned by Paramount
* Paramount and CBS merge
* CBS and Paramount split, and somehow CBS takes Star Trek from Paramount
* CBS doesn't know shit about how to utilize Trek
* Paramount is pissed off and wants Trek back
* CBS doesn't give a fuck and basically licenses it back to Paramount, as long as it's different enough such to not "confuse audiences"
Paramount didn't run it into the ground, CBS did. Imagine back in elementary school and some "friend" of yours said "I'm gonna borrow your favorite video game", and before you have a chance to say "fuck no", they've already got their sticky popsicle fingers all over it, ruined the label, lost the manual, bent the box, and then said "if you want me to give it back you need to give me $20"
>Cancellation imminent
says increasingly nervous Midnight's Edge shill for the 9001st time.
>bashing Midnight's Edge
says CBS shill for the 1000000001th time
>muh shills!
You're both mentally ill.
something doesn't need to be cheesy and/or campy to be idealistic and adventurous. The main issue is trek stopped being idealistic or adventurous at some point. if not entirely because most people don't like idealism in any capacity. Because it makes them feel like shit for just meekly accepting all the shit that's been dumped on them.
But how can it be cancelled if gays and strong PoC of Color wombyn who don't need no captain?!?!?
People have been bitching and whining about the death of Trek since the first DS9 ferengi episodes aired
And now Trek is dead. Hope you're happy, nog apologist.
Yes and no. It's important that a main character have a certain "everyman" quality, and not be too indoctrinated or set in their ways. The extreme of this - see Rey, Michael Burnham, fucking Triss from Divergent - is that you end up with a complete blank slate of a character. A whiteboard for the audience to project their own feelings and characterization onto. You can get away with it for perhaps one half of one movie but not two seasons of a show.
Fake news.
>legally
>requires it to not be canon at 25% different
how does this work?, how do you meassure a 25% difference over an intellectual property?
In other words, why would you come with such bs in an anonymous board?
Why are you reddit spacing and writing like a black kid?
>in an anonymous board
This site is for native English speakers.
what's "reddit spacing" and how do you know about it?
deal with it incel, it'll be around for a while yet.
in the real world
I know about it because second hand knowledge exists. Why do you ask stupid questions? Is it because you thought it was going to be a "gotcha" but you weren't smart enough to anticipate the answers that would be given by someone smarter than you, pavement ape?
seething
It's formatting used by learning disabled people because they assume everyone else needs double spacing to read simple blocks of text reliably.

Keep digging, Michael.
The white man asked you a question, boy.
Damn, STD is the new BvS for baiting.
Seriously, what is it with you types and your incessant Strawmen attacks.
Both Eves and Burnet stated clearly what happened and the evidence is there for everybody to see.
But of course we need somebody who graduated from the CBS/Paramount Trek University to even DARE believing his words.
WE NEED ROCK SOLID CREDENTIALS for our Trek trivia.
Either start thinking for yourself or shill better.
Nice digits fucktard.
Are you allergic to paragraphs? Did single mom tell you that dad used paragraphs or something?
shhhhhhh
youtube.com
this was pretty cool tho
DISCO is too advanced for modern audiences.
MEMBER THE CAGE?
like how they announced Star Trek 4 was totally happening with both Hemsworth and Pine
Trek is the gayest shit. You retards are more cringeworthy than the capeshitters.
They'll probably have some sort of STD season 4 but it might get delayed with all the restructuring.
It is nice and it helps, but in Rome, do as the Romans. user should not use it here.
I don't know. I really enjoy the parts where Spock shits all over Micheal. It's a bit overly sentimental, but Pike, Saru, Spock, and the Section 31 people make it watchable.
Anyways, I'm only halfway through the e10, and I'm seriously thinking about dropping it now that Burnham is the red angel. The only saving grace would be if Burnham goes back in time and saves her parents so that none of this shit ever takes place.
Your spoiler is incorrect. Don't worry, reality is way worse.
It's Mirror Mike and after this season there will be 2 of her on the show. Plus she'll be on the georgiu & picard shows too.
In you absence, I have made a Star Trek: Discovery.
>tumblr writes trek fanfic
>surprise, it sucks
studio execs are mentally challenged
So if normal Mike is so hateable, what are the chances that Mirror Mike is incredibly based?
0%
Writers couldn't manage a single personality for normal Mike what's the chance they can write a second one?
im so sick of seeing niggers in everything.
and refuse to watch forced multiculti shit that ultimately has bad casting
Casting in aidstrek is fine. Everyone was fine, except george. Yeoh can't speak english good and shouldn't be allowed on any american show BUT she's a big enough name to leverage for more money so it's more studio fuckery than casting issues. Also she was supposed to be dead.
I had zero problems with Yeoh, and race has nothing to do with how bad Burnham's character is.
It's literally the most popular show of all time in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Bigger than Game of Thrones.
It's going to have infinite seasons.
last week
It's not her acting, just her speaking. She gets a lot of villainous monologues to chew through and she's not good at english diction.
>google Michelle Paradise
fucking hell
That's just one of the things that Midnight's Edge listed that's probably bullshit.
They also said that there won't ever be season 2, and yet we're getting season 3.
They said they can't use anything from "main timeline" Star Trek unless it's 25% different and then they literally lifted footage from the original series.
Why believe everything you hear on the internet? Especially from people who were proven to be attention seeking liars again and again?
I think only Lorca survived after the Mirror Discovery was destroyed.
I believe she was asked to keep her accent in the show.
syfy.com
It's not accent, it's diction.
I was cautiously optimistic during this season until Kurtzman decided to throw all the progress they could've made out the window with more family shit.
He might kill the gays again.
These are literally false
Why do people complain so much about a show they obviously don't even watch?
You can't.
Better question: Why does your faggot ass watch bad shows?
ebin comeback
I think this show could be improved if they just had Pike invite Saru onto the Enterprise and just followed Pike, Saru, and Spock around instead of the disco crew.
>can anyone explain to me what the point of having nuNumber One was? That's because the writers don't know how to write for these characters, she only appeared for nostalgia points. One of the original plans for the show was to have a new Captain for the Discovery each year, these captains would be the iconic ones (Pike, April, Decker etc.). It made no sense other than playing the nostalgia card, like Bad Robot does everytime.
The problem with Michael Burnham is that she's the only main character. The show is all about her. She's written as a self-insert, people all around her stop what they're doing so they can validate her, she's allowed to talk back at Pike for no reason. As the viewer they expect you to like the character.
>5th showrunner in 2 seasons
Holy shit.
just answer user's question
>ENT S1
>glorious
If you enjoy complete shit.
user is right, no trek since TOS has had a good S1. ENT had a different show every season, as much mood whiplash as aidstrek was planned for.
DS9's is kinda decent if you ignore Move Along Home and that fucking Rumpelstiltskin episode. It gets saved by having some good episodes to even out the shit.
TOS > DS9 > ENT = TNG > VOY
Just need to point out that's not a tier list for the shows themselves, that's a S1 tier list. Although TOS is still the top and VOY is still the retarded uncle-dad.
Nobody argues they have 1+ great great great episodes in S1. The pilots tend to be pretty great as far as pilots go too. DS9's was not so much.
>Kira solo eps
Were worth it in the LONG term for characterization but that is not a strong point for S1
>Q punching ep
>Move Along Home
>Storyteller
>Rumplestiltskin
>Cakehole based finale after based Duet
There were many major flops alongside the average+ and the great.
>the ship is upside down
Also Progress might legitimately be my favorite ep of S1, even above Duet. Kira as primary focus of S1 was really disorienting but not bad.
Yeah Kira's eps are fucking nice, and become even better on a rewatch, but you're right it's still a pretty weak S1. I totally forgot about "FUCK YOU, Q, I'M NOT PICARD" as an episode, though; that one's a real stinker.
>get a Jew
>it's just the greedy moneygrubbing kind that phones it in and not the autistic attention to detail kind
it's not fair bros
still disappointed no Tellarite or Andorian bridge crew. The best we'll ever get is Shran and Tellarite never ever
>shran
based combs
What the show really needs is Jeffrey Combs as a captain
He's a reddit meme.
I want Combs playing a real bad guy. None of this "he can be redeemed" shit, just a straight-up monster.
why didn't she say anything to anyone, when she was clearly knowing there was something wrong with her, that takes away her control over her actions, she could have gotten help cause she clearly had some phases where she was still in full control
why didn't she at least say something when she was going on a dangerous mission
why didn't they beam her back on the ship when she started going rogue on the mission and put her in a cell
why didn't they beam her directly into sick bay to save her life in the last minute when she was blown out of the airlock
why was that episode so super shitty
Try again, Jamal. This time in white people script.
because muh spock muh girl powa muh fuck continuity
>why was that episode so super shitty
...and written by the new showrunner.
They’ve already fired Pike so s3 is dead on arrival.
Maybe Orville can hire him.
when they ship him off back to Enterprise is he taking his cute security girl Nahn?
I dont watch it but that would be hilarious.
How is it that The Orville feels more like a real Star Trek show than a "real" Star Trek show? I was expecting Family Guy in Space and I got a genuine sci-fi show with soul.
It would be 100% trek if they could get rid of seth
>Burnham is the red angel.
she isn't, it's her mom
I am no Seth McFarlane fan but I find him pretty tolerable in this show. This is the least Seth McFarlane-y thing he's ever done.
The Orville seems a lot better than it is because STD is such unrelenting drek
ENT had fluctuations from greatness to utterly shit all throughout the series
Pretty sure studio mandates some% of it being family guy
If the Orville was the new official Star Trek show I think people would be pretty critical towards it for the bathroom humor and cheap production values, but the fact that there is an official Star Trek show that's utter garbage running at the same time as The Orville, the latter becomes much more appealing.
Orville just has fairly independent episodes whereas Discovery is all about one larger plot.
At least the other treks had independent episodes with a larger plot on the side
Toilet humor > toilet writing.
Is this Rebecca Romijn´s awesome boobage?
And they STILL push annoying Micaela in this ´tard show??
Jeez, that´s almost sad.
Seth is the only reason it's as Trek as it is though
Well, at least thanks for admitting your hate of this show has nothing to do with the writing, plotting, pacing, effects, or all the other valid reasons for disliking a show. Stay angry!
Yes, but he's still Seth. He needs to learn to separate himself from his projects to save them.
Except for the whole interracial kiss thing.
Oh, and except for the multiracial cast.
Oh, and except for the anti-war episodes.
Oh, and except for the anti-nationalist episodes.
Oh, and except for the anti-racism episodes.
But yes, TOS never forced ideology on anyone. They just built stories around progressive ideals. Whereas Discovery ... builds stories around progressive ideals but it a totally different way. Yep.
Why don't queers understand that they invalidate their positions by acting like catty, condescending faggots all the time?
Not that fag but it's very different in that they can't just say "Welp we did the racism episode" and pretend it never happened cause episodic structure like TOS did. Also TOS era politics were accurate to the time of their show and not problems solved decades in the past.
>Whereas Discovery ... builds stories around progressive ideals but it a totally different way. Yep.
This is completely accurate. TOS builds good stories and characters around progressive ideas. STD builds shitty stories and characters around progressive ideas.
The only difference between TOS and now is you're a miserable adult that supports retarded shit now and you weren't then.
>Whereas Discovery ... builds stories around progressive ideals but it a totally different way. Yep.
You're actually hitting on something here. Discovery really does jack shit with ideals, it's just a shitty action show with no substance. Even the church episode amounts to Burnham being a cunt and Pike saying she should be less of one. The sum of what's Star Trek in Discovery is token references to canon and Pike tut tuting at Section 31
WILL SOMEONE FUCKING TELL ME IF TILLY GETS INTO A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP IN SEASON 2? IT'S LITERALLY THE ONLY REASON WHY I WILL WATCH IT.
I wasn't anything then. The progressive stuff works fine in an episodic structure though because they can completely abandon it when they need story instead. That's a successful star trek device in most of the series'. Even DS9 was only mostly continuous.
i tried watching an episode but they just talked about being gay and fucking some asian chick. i dont get what this show even is, its like the anti thesis to star trek.
No she doesn't, she has a brief friendship with an alien but is mostly comic relief
its alright but the plots feel pretty dumbed down and the larger plot takes way too long to progress. whre is my kreylon conflict man?
context?
B plot with bortus and his partner getting addicted to cigarettes had me in stitches
Context: Kira burns down a poor cardassian refugee farmer's house.
More context: This is the A plot of the whole episode. It's Kira being torn between her duty and her old anarchist rebel lifestyle
Even more context: It's really really fucking good, watch it. DS9 S01E15 "Progress"
i actually havent watched any ds9. will do
We already heard that one, bud. Get new talking points.
>We
>talking points
Who is "we?" And those aren't talking points, those are my opinions. Stop using memewords and pretending to be retarded.
>Who is "we?"
Anyone who saw you post that shit yesterday or the day before, numbnuts. You're regurgitating that opinion in nearly identical fashion day after day without alteration or embellishment. That's a talking point. Stop being an autistic robot seeking validation for your painfully shallow observations and you won't get called on it. Can you do that for us?
they could have made them cool bit now they look like xenomorph orcs :(
>Can you do that for us?
No, because I wasn't that user and I wasn't in any Trek threads yesterday or the day before. What do you even imagine the "talking point" in this post is?
That STD is shit? I bet anything you come to these threads and repost the same "talking points" every time, guilty people always think everyone else is doing exactly what they are guilty of.
Have a dollar on me, trips amigo, it’s the least I can do.
>No
Then you're a fag. Settled. Also, I'm not the other guy you quoted, you gigantic retard. Kind of wondering what type of brain damage would lead you to believe we'd be the same guy.
I lost all interest when I saw a photo of the cast doing a Kaepernick kneel-in with Captain Nigard giving the black power salute.
>I'm not the other guy you quoted, you gigantic retard.
I know that, retard. Read the reply chain. I really can't tell if you're pretending to be retarded or if you're just desperate to have an epic internet argument. Either way, you're a twat.
>i'm just going to start crying about "talking points" to some other stranger
Seems like you don't know shit, fuckboi. Cry moar about getting found out for being special ed. This is your last chance, so you'd better make it count.
Hold on, typing a comeback. You're about to get rekt kiddo.
Glad to see you're not going to just lay there and take it, like your mom.
I’m the guy that quoted the wrong post by accident and you’re both retards, along with me.
>TAS isn't canon
Pleb opinion.
S1 Bajoran arc was the best. Shame the series turned into actionbabby pleb bait.
>TOS builds good stories and characters around progressive ideas. STD builds shitty stories and characters around progressive ideas.
This and it was the same thing with TNG, you could see the liberal politics from space but it didn't matter because it was a well written and acted show which respected and expounded upon the previous material.
Yeah, we're collectively done talking about the robot's post now, newjack.
All of DS9 too. Who needs the wormhole? Basically the premises of DS9 and Voyager are invalidated.
On the other hand, the spore drive is obviously going to be tossed down the hole of forgotten tech at the end of the show, no matter how stupid that is.
>Not listing the Voyager games
Why you got to hurt me like this?
Fuck, I didn't even make that connection with the wormhole. You're right, the station would no longer be important at all. Now I'm the meme man who dislikes something even more than previously believed possible.
s1 was fucking boring
>So, who would you like for your elite crew, Lorca?
>I'll take that Vulcan who beat up her last CO. Just get her out of prison or whatever.
Paramount is uniquely incompetent it seems. They lost so many assets for dirt cheap.
Discovery is an objective cinematic trashcan, not even Pike and Saru can save it. It's like the people behind it don't even understand the basic concepts of good filmmaking.
CBS/whatever is also going to re-merge after Les' retarded wild ride. They might solve their licensing problems but it won't unfuck their trek shit.
STD was kino when he was onscreen
unironically best male lead in star trek since kirk
>It's so weird to see /pol/ faggots trying to pretend Star Trek wasn't always liberal socialist propaganda.
really now
midnights edge is right about almost everything though. sources and leaks cant always be accurate. i also dont think they said no season 2
i love those enterprise uniforms. if we could have a show with pike and this lady i'd be happy
