Now, it is itime to go back

Post a more chilling movie. you fucking can't

Calling it "Hellraiser in space" doesn't do it justice. The original script was even better, but proved to be much too blackpilled and esoteric for audiences in 1997. It's been in my head for the last few days, there's something hidden in this movie.

A friend of mine hyped this movie up to all high hell about being one of the scariest movies he had ever seen, and I was honestly disappointed with it.
Don't get me wrong, I still loved it, I just had such high expectations for it.
I would like to see the lost footage, but we all know that will never happen.
youtube.com/watch?v=H_xI-inhxdg

I aint gonna read that. Gimme a tldr of the original script

Just another sad case of a film being neutered by it's producer and focus groups. The token black guy wasn't even in the original script, and what was left of the crew ended up actually being taken to hell.

>I would like to see the lost footage, but we all know that will never happen.

yeah. sigh

I'm not reading this whole god damn thing, give me a rundown on why the original script was better.

You realize you have to be 18 to post on this board, right? Only 12 year old's thought this was anything other than a shitty Alien/slasher movie ripoff. You have the kino taste of a retarded orangutan.

its a bad recycling of The Shining and Hellblazer

In what way is it a fucking alien ripoff/slasher movie? Do you even know what a slasher movie is? Event Horizon went way over your head.

Attached: it is time to go back.png (1911x811, 571K)

>Event Horizon went way over your head.

OMG that might be one of the funniest things ever posted on this board. Somebody screenshot this.

>"OMG"
>"screenshot this"
>having the nerve to call me 12 years old

Was this the first instance of the "Poke 2 holes in paper and fold it together" meme to explain wormholes?

the design of the ship
>in what way is it a slasher rip off
the crew is pick off one by one in different an gruesome ways

Hey pal, you're the one who thinks this turd is a good movie, nothing you say about me is going to change your retardation level. But have at it.

It sure was the first for me. It was fun drilling normies about this when Interstellar came out.

The ship's design came from Gothic cathedrals.

>the crew is pick off one by one in different an gruesome ways
Apocalypse Now is a slasher flick, huh?

Attached: 1530826369114.jpg (710x594, 127K)

>It was fun drilling normies about this when Interstellar came out.
lol how pathetic are you

This movie has not aged well at all. From the dumb as fuck characters to the awful fucking 90's techno soundtrack. It was fine 20 years ago but it just doesn't work anymore. The set is pretty cool tho.

Attached: 1553209525481.jpg (347x395, 32K)

>guy I watched Interstellar with keeps referencing the scene over and over
He had it all coming. Also, what the fuck is even the purpose of knowing shit if not to make fun of others?

if you don't see the blatant alien influence you are completely dense

>calling someone "dense" as an insult
I like literally can't even right now. OMG.

Attached: reddit.jpg (1080x1080, 51K)

Did you never read A Wrinkle in Time gayboi?

now i completely understand why you love this shitty movie. nice thread, dipshit.

Oh yeah real scary movie you got there...
youtube.com/watch?v=Wyrqd63j4dc&t=0m30s

Epic funny black man wasn't in the original script. Did you even read my post?

It's a good movie. I saw it in the theater.

But there's nothing "hidden" in it. Stop trying to find a hidden meaning in things.

>he doesn't know
One day, you will.

Shitty cheap looking sets. Boring camera angles. Phoned in performances. Boring Dialogue. Garbage exposition.

>BUT IT'S LE EBIN SCI FI GENRE XDDD

No wonder pleb Yea Forums shitheads like this pile of shit. Critically panned, for good reason. Fuck off.

I wish.

Is this the movie where the girl has 3 boobs?

>Shitty cheap looking sets
(You)

most of them do nowadays

Total Recal

it's warhammer in space you dumbfuck

YOU HAVE FAILED!

Why was he so obsessed with his paper thing scene?

*puts pen through folded paper to illustrate Einstein-Rosen bridge*

Literally r*ddit. Fuck you and fuck Warhammer. Event Horizon is about something so purely evil it even dwarfs the devil.

Attached: over_your_head.png (625x237, 18K)

Event Horizon is kino but I think Pandorum is the superior space horror movie

Attached: Pandorum.jpg (337x500, 57K)

says the rabid fellator of capeshit
holy shit go back to watching captain marvel lmao

i warhammered your mom 40k times

>Pandorum
>better than Event Horizon
KYS

>Pandorum
I've never seen it, what's it about? The vaguely biblical themes that somehow made it through to the final draft are what drew me to Event Horizon.

Good premise with a few shreds of great imagery sprinkled throughout. As a whole its a lame cheesy film that even has the wacky sidekick hijinks of its time infesting in. Wasted potential.

It's fucking stupid and doesn't have anything in common with Event Horizon except that it takes place off-Earth.

Two crewmembers on a generational ship wake up from hypersleep to perform their duties as part of the rotation to discover that the ship is barely functional, the rest of the crew are missing and something else is aboard. I don't want to spoil it but I think you'd enjoy the, if not biblical, at least religious themes which emerge later in the movie.

Pandorum is shit
Guy wakes up in tube on colony spess ship. Turns out everyone of the human race is ded, the ship was supposed to take 100 years but it's actually been 1000, goblins have taken over the ship and they do all kindsa ritualistic sadistic hunts on the humans who wake up from failing hibernation systems, they're descendants of humans who have evolved into goblins, the hero is actually the villain, all kindsa dumb shit. Girl in it is top tier hottie and that's all I can recommend about it.

You're a sad little man and your suffering is just

YOU ARE ALL. COMING. WITH ME.

I get more of a haunted house in space feel from it than hellraiser
Movie's plot also reminds me of system shock 2, another "spaceship comes back fucked up" plot

The only thing wrong with the film's presentation was the soundtrack. They needed to drop the generic orchestral and 90's techno, and go with something like this instead.

THE REALLY BAD ENCODING ARTIFACTS AND MACROBLOCKING ONLY MAKES THIS PICTURE BETTER

lmfao literally every cronenberg or lynch movie is more chilling than this, even the lighthearted ones. You only like this because you never outgrew science fiction

He thought it was cool and found ways to insert it when we would talk about scifi shit in general.

Nah, those still aren't heavy enough.

THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING

BRB DOWNLOADING SOME BITSTARVED 1CD YIFY ENCODE OF EVENT HORIZON TO TRULY EXPERIENCE THE MOVIE

WARHAMMER IS PRETTY BASED

A HELL DIMENSION IN SPACE IS COOL
CUS SPACE IS COLD BUT HELL IS HOT

>CUS SPACE IS COLD
Brainlet, the temperature is entirely dependent on whether or not you're facing the sun. Space has both extremes.

Fuck off with the Warhammer 40k nonsense. Event Horizon is about something terrifyingly real.

Attached: icon.jpg (430x550, 121K)

Actually, space is cold because there's no medium to absorb heat within it, being near the sun warms you up because your body absorbs its radiation, but the ambient temperature isn't any different to anywhere else unless you're in a nebula or other form of atmosphere which can be warmed up.

I like it

dude that was so fucking epic

Black hole goth ships and devils are very real.

youtube.com/watch?v=IQYAA7Bl94E
>rip mp3
>open in audacity, slow to 0.85 percent speed
Fucking filthy, absolutely heavy and evil. Up until the drums started, this is the kind of music that would have fit Event Horizon perfectly.

>implying the Devil isn't real
I'm afraid I have some very bad news for you, user.

this sounds like Greg Bear's "Hull Zero Three", to be honest.

I watch it once or twice a year one of my favourite movies desu
Such a shame there isn't a sequel that shows us the hell footage and going to hell
Braaap

I heard the warhammer thing before reddit, and Yea Forums for that matter, even existed.
If some leddit faggots have thought the same thing then they're just late as fuck and as unoriginal as expected or are just parroting shit they read off the old warhammer forums.

They should have just taken the first film further and stuck closer to the original script. I'd never want to see a sequel, they would ruin it somehow.

Did they go to hell in the original script?
Always wondered why le funny black man was in the movie

In the original script Weir in the finale was acting as a vessel for the devil, or what Miller thought was the devil at first. It actually turned out to be something far more ancient and purely evil. There were also more Hell visions and we were supposed to get glimpses of bizarre landscapes. The blood orgy scene was also supposed to be longer.

>A vast field of stars. The gas giant Neptune slowly spins into view.
>Brilliant and blue and cold against the void.
guy who doesn't know shit about how filmmaking works here
why do scripts have these kind of flourishes in them? like what's the point of having them? isn't the goal of a script to show the dialogue and at most to give a utilitarian description of what is happening in the screen?

As long as I'm not chained, this could actually be nice. After death I'm going to travel a lot by foot in afterlife.

To give the reader a feel for the tone it's supposed to have.

So, if Reddit says the sky is blue, are they wrong?

Hollywood science was used to increase mutation rates in people so that they would adapt to the environment of the target planet faster. Stuck inside the ship, we got the goblins as a result.

w40k version of hell and demons is still more believable than the christian one

i was more scared of my moms slipper than this fucking movie when i was a kid

what a fucking nigger holy shit

Instead we get two weak doom movies and no warhammer/doom/event horizon kino
Fuck this gay earth

its referencing this

tl;dr hostile intelligence exist past Planks length of vibration of matter and we can communicate with them. Alex Jone's rant about clockwork elves is unironically true

cia.gov/library/readingroom/document/cia-rdp96-00788r001700270006-0

jesus christ will metalfags ever grow up, that shit would be so fucking corny in this movie and so are you and your shit fanbase of pretentious fucks all trying to one up each other on how much of a fucking look book poser queer you can be

based

this shit sounds rad af, point me to the parts of the document i'll find what you're claiming

Its just a movie where it turns out one guy had nightmares when in cryogenic sleep. Woop woop.

i'll cap the section. heres something from it i did months ago while you wait

Attached: waves.jpg (1338x630, 272K)

Event Horizon was butchered in editing, it's just not very good.

neat
what you said about hostile intelligences existing past something or other reminds me of something currently happening in a sci fi book i'm reading but i'm not sure if that's it yet

okay i forgot that i couldn't ctrl 5 on the pdf, i did a quick scan and there is a direct referance to the inteligence gather application of the technique and lamenting that while they could prove that subjects had remote viewed documents on the other side of the US, they couldn't get the whole document correct and that it required mutliple viewers to pull off enough to form a basic outline. they then speculate that this is due to time being distorted form past and present co existing and thoughts being a frequency that effects this, the creation of thought forms happens and distorts the perception of the out of body viewer.

ironically this is very similar to how western hermeticism interprets thoughts and how it views the devil and supernatural figures in general and makes sense since these unseen forces would be above the dimension of time.

don't have time to find the exact quote but if you read it you will find them talking about encountering "interference from other intelligences" they talk about them like their either a nuisance or generally indifferant

Attached: 1524726743116.jpg (1027x991, 137K)

Fuck off, this is premium boomer sci-fi horror. I bet you never actually watched it on VHS.

That's not the original script.

>or generally indifferant
well hopefully it's this if anything
i get enough malevolence on my daily commute
i don't need it vibrating at me from some other plane of existence too

>the script is even better than the movie, the black guy wasn't even in it

Attached: 1553558763704.jpg (378x378, 31K)

tl;dr thoughts create thought forms which create entities all their own, there also exist entities that are too low or too high a vibration for you to physically see or directly effect you unless your thought pattern is moved closer to their frequency.

>okay i forgot that i couldn't ctrl 5 on the pdf,

No, you didn't. There's nothing like that in the fucking pdf. The closest it comes to what you're claiming is a collective notion of some "other" giving them kind and helpful knowledge, but it states this could very well be nothing more than hallucination from the subject.

Now this is one movie I wouldn't mind getting a remake with the original, uncut script but yeah fat chance of that happening in this age we live in

>spoil the whole movie
stop being a niggerfaggot

>Post a more chilling movie.

Came out more than 40 years ago and still untouchable to this day.

Attached: large_uU9R1byS3USozpzWJ5oz7YAkXyk.jpg (400x600, 102K)

I'm 99% sure I watched some kind of uncut version of the film in my theater. When I downloaded and watched this again many years later I saw none of the worst scenes and gore I remember.

Is it right to say that Alien invented true scifi/space horror? Not counting vintage stuff like any War of the Worlds derivatives on 50's TV.
I mean, before it wasn't space scifi for the most part an uplifting thing? Like star trek and star wars and shit.
There was 2001 and HAL though, but by the mid 70's space and aliens were humanoid silly looking things in star trek and wars.

Alien came along and freaked everyone the fuck out.

I watched that movie last week and the scenes of the first crew and the visions of hell were pretty disgusting. But that the satanic overtake of the crew just happens like that and you cant see it coming or escaped it was unsettling.
The worst part about that is after seeing this video
youtube.com/watch?=_pqp33cVkIE
i nearly couldnt sleep 1 night, because they are researching the same things. Lightspeed, faster than light travel, wormholes, black holes, acceleration by magnets. Is the movie what they hope to find?
Also that ending was typical Hollywood shit with white woman and nigger, who survived getting flung into space, surviving it all. Pretty stupid

>Morpheus
>a nigger
fuck off faggot

the other one

wrong link: youtube.com/watch?v=_pqp33cVkIE

>Satanic Ritual at CERN
that was a hoax, some fags were aware of all those crackpot tinfoil theories around CERN so they staged this shit

It doesn't have Jason from hell showing up at the end or Laurence Fishburne looking straight into the camera to explain the plot.

yikes, did you just get bent out of shape about the n word without even having seen the movie?
maybe you should go back to ribbit or at least leave this thread. this is a thread for anons who have watched the movie

y-yeah guys they like totally fell for it el oh el
you can't fool everyone you glow nigger

you are a dumb nigger
you are the blackest retard gorilla nigger to post itt
laurence fishburne is not a nigger
but you are
you dumb nigger

I first saw Event Horizon oh VHS and spent forever trying to advance the tape one frame at a time to see what was there

Reading through the script has reminded me of something the last time I watched this film:

At the beginning, when they're just approaching the ship and the pilot initiates a bio-scan there's that ominous moment where they can't detect where the crew is; if they were in stasis they'd all be in one place, but the bio-scan can't get a lock on location implying that the ship itself is alive or something.

"Bio-scan" already is kind of a vague sci-fi thing, and silly to nitpick it since there's no explanation on how it would work, but I'd assume it'd be registering I dunno, thermals, motion and presumably a heartbeat or something to do with organic beings, right? Regardless, it's not as if they portrayed the ship at any moment as being organic, with fleshy walls and innards and shit inside. It's just metal.

Now that would've been something.
A moment of clarity where one of them sees how parts of the ship have become an organic being and "alive" rather than "alive" in the haunted house entity sense, with pulsing arteries and slime and shit.
Though perhaps that'd be too much.

>researching acceleration via magnets

Oh no not the magnets

>t. deprived soul that's never played with neodymiums near his balls
magnets be scary yo

How is it chilling? There was nothing remotely scary or unsettling

Well it's better than the actual Hellraiser in space, that's for sur.

>tfw you'll never be 14 again buying this movie on VHS blind, loving it, telling your classmates about it, borrowing it to them and they love it too, and all your friends talk about it for weeks

I was surprised at this too. Though I've read some pretty bare bones scripts too. Guess this is why the director is so damned important.

One of the best children's scifi ever made.
I will never forgive the kikes at disney for butchering the film adaptation in the name of diversity.

Wouldn't soijack be pro-diversity?

Reading through the script to the part where Weir/dark entity and Miller fight:
Dunno what the formatting's going to be like when I copypaste this shit, testing out:
Weir slowly approaches.

MILLER
What are you?

WEIR
You know.

MILLER
You want me to believe you're the
Devil, well, I don't, that's bullshit!

WEIR
I'm not the Devil.

MILLER
Then what, what are you? Tell me...

WEIR
Better if I just show you.

okay it corrected itself without any fuckery. more and the whole bizarre landscapes thing that other user mentioned:

Weir's hands reach down and he grabs Miller by the skull.
Miller GASPS as he sees...

SERIES OF SHOTS

Faster than the eye can see. More than mind can accept...

INT. EVENT HORIZON - BRIDGE (VISIONS FROM HELL)

The ORIGINAL CREW writhe naked and bloody in carnivorous
frenzy...

INT. EVENT HORIZON - SECOND CONTAINMENT (VISIONS FROM HELL)

Peters' bloody grinning child, devouring his mother...

INT. EVENT HORIZON - SECOND CONTAINMENT

MILLER writhes in Weir's grip. His hands flail out to the
sides. One hand brushes a long steel cannister sunk in the
muck. A CO2 scrubber...

THE VISIONS CONTINUE:

INT. EVENT HORIZON - MEDICAL/SCIENCE (VISIONS FROM HELL)

DJ's dissected body, except that here, DJ looks up, and
smiles...

EXT. SPACE - MODEL (VISIONS FROM HELL)

AN ALIEN SUN, red and bloated and dying.

EXT. ALIEN TERRAIN - MODEL (VISIONS FROM HELL)

AN ALIEN TERRAIN; a sluggish, oily, black sea. A hand reaches
from the oil...

INT. STUDIO APARTMENT (VISIONS FROM HELL)

CLAIRE floating dead in a bathtub filled with the thick black
fluid...

INT. EVENT HORIZON - SECOND CONTAINMENT (VISIONS FROM HELL)

INT. EVENT HORIZON - SECOND CONTAINMENT (VISIONS FROM HELL)

Justin, Starck and Cooper, crucified upside-down upon the
Third Seal...

INT. EVENT HORIZON - SECOND CONTAINMENT

MILLER
NO!

His hand closes on the scrubber and he swings it across Weir's
head. Weir reels back, stunned.

Miller gets to his feet.

MILLER
You can't have them!

He hits Weir again. HARD. Blood gushes from Weir's skull,
filling the runes on his face.

Weir staggers. Miller attacks. Again and again and again...

This time Weir is ready. He catches the scrubber and tears
it from Miller's grasp. SMASHES Miller to the floor with a
single blow. Miller GROANS.

WEIR
I'm not the Devil. I'm much, much
older. I watched the Beginning and I
will see the End. I am the dark behind
the stars. I am the dark inside you

and then, after miller denotes the charges like in the theatrical version and the blackhole sucks the engine part of the ship away, we get this
STARCK
Miller...

FADE TO:

SPACE - MODEL

Black planets silhouetted by a dying red giant. The
Engineering Containment of the Event Horizon drifts in the
eddies of gas that swirl and spiral into the bloated star.

MOVE towards the ship until its shadow consumes all...

So he is an alien

I like this ending a more, as it doesn't have that cheesy
>but in fact it's not over!
horror movie zinger that's oh so tedious.
There's no fake out, the statis room bay doors don't ominously close by themselves etc., no bullshit.
Who the fuck decided to change that?

The little bit of exposition from the weir dark thing was all that would've been needed. I'm annoyed that all of this was left out of the theatrical version.

Also, at least this script explains how weir/dark thing re-materilizes back on the ship after being blown out of a hole he made on the bridge:
The ship reforms him from scratch.
Gruesome.

It does kind of do away with any other theories.
I mean, there's a star system with weird planets, and a red gas giant. So the ship when somewhere and not NOwhere that the weir entity keeps on harping on about in the script.

MILLER
...not the Devil...

Weir kicks Miller savagely. Miller slides through the coolant,
comes to rest beneath a walkway. He attempts to rise,
collapses back into the sludge.

Weir slowly stalks towards him.

WEIR
There is no Devil. There is no God.
There is only... NOTHING.

MILLER
You're lying...!

WEIR
I'm not asking you to believe me.
You'll see for yourself... and so
will your crew. You're all coming
with me.

-------------------------------------------------------
Wait.
>so he is an alien
Now that you put it like that, so simply. Now I don't know what to think.

A good kids movie (albeit softish on science) is City of Ember. Wikipedia tells me there's a book, which I never read; I must look for it later.

What about the The Angry Red Planet?

Book was garbage even as a kid. Reading it felt like watching a cheaply made sci-fi movie from the 1950s. If you read Clarke, Bester, Lem, Aasimov, Bradbury, or any of the actually great sci-fi writers, they don’t have stunted imaginations. Their work holds up even today.

The movie is actually more occultic than you think.
Bear in mind, Satanists actually believe the Bible and that they will eventually lose.
Event Horizon is a metaphor of their future plans to essentially save themselves from Hell.
>a machine that can travel to hell via dimensional gateways and then scoop up those trapped there bringing them back into normal reality.

It's kinda like Satanist last resort of a plan in other words, if they do lose the battle of Armageddon with God (which spoiler alert they will).
Also keep in mind that people who rule the world actually believe in this stuff not because it bonds them together, but because its the truths of reality.

it's not actually hell in this film
it's just some other dimension

>I'm 99% sure I watched some kind of uncut version of the film in my theater. When I downloaded and watched this again many years later I saw none of the worst scenes and gore I remember.
Based acclimated brainlet

>Bear in mind, Satanists actually believe the Bible and that they will eventually lose.
lol imagine thinking Satanists are devil-worshipers

>know absolutely nothing about the subject he is talking about
>confident
>assblasted
typical Yea Forums poster

>Bear in mind, Satanists actually believe the Bible and that they will eventually lose.
Depends which ones you're talking about.
Actual "Church of Satan" Laveyian types, what people are usually referring to when they say "Satanists", don't; they're just trolls that exist because of America's evangelical Christian tradition.

I'm sure there are some legit crazies that unironically worship the devil, but they didn't get he memo that the modern, established movement is more about frustrating Christian interest groups by exploiting the same loopholes they use to their advantage rather than any actual religious mumbojumbo.
Usually teenagers that fall into it because of overly religious parents in small communities and they want to act edgy.
They usually grow out of it.
If they don't then that's just all sorts of pathetic.

Reminder that the director is a hack and Event Horizon is wasted material

>DUDE IT'S A METAPHOR LMAO

Did anyone else read the whole series?
It literally turns into biblethumping scifi and it's honestly fucking stragne

That would be a bit like Mormon's religion.

One of the later books has the twin brothers accidentally get sent back in time to the days of Noah, (I'm remembering off the top of my head so I might be off), and they basically fight Nephalim and Seraphim and it's fucking crazy

Appropriate music for this film is pic related. This whole album is one 47 minute song that feels like Event Horizon feels.
